Service was exceptional and food was so very tasty.
Both Kenise, our server and Tony, our busser were fantastic. They went above and beyond on menu selections and refilling our glasses.
Delicious food, service was a bit slow but they were busy. Our appetizer was brought out late so they comped it.
The food is always great -- consistently tasty and interesting. Service, however is uneven. We've had great service and bad -- this time was bad. Our server was sweet -- but rarely around when we needed her. It didn't totally ruin dinner, but it sure didn't help.
Way too loud
Fun and lively place. Super loud inside but had a great outside table.
Kazim served us and was outstanding in customer care. Super personality and a good model for The Smith waitstaff
Busy weekends in DC for graduation. Choose Smith and our first of three group meals during the weekend.
Place was happening and very loud, but not unexpected.
Service was solid but not exceptional. Occasional gaps due to volume of clientele.
Food passable but i expected better flavors.
We had a group of 8 so conversations we're between adjacent guests sur ro the noise level, but again utter was a bust weekend. I would go back with a smaller group.
Biscuits are very good ca nice treat to get them when you come for breakfast. Food is always good.
We were a large group and they handled it seamlessly. The food was delicious and well priced. I will be coming back!!
Service was awful. Had to ask 3 times to get them to take our order.
Grilled chicken sandwich was 90% stale bread. Ugh.
Dessert menu sub par
I brought my staff of 10 here b/c I thought it would be a treat. Not so much.
Nice place but service was poor. Didn’t seem like we had a server.
Cocktails were perfect and the Salmon with spring onion and pea shoots was out of this world!
Great service, restaurant was a bit noisier than I like but not unbearable. Mac and cheese excellent!
Ok place with pretty good food. Only had lunch without alcohol so can’t speak to libations. Seems to primarily be a poor value.
I was disappointed with brunch. This was my second time here, first time was fabulous, wonderful service and great food. This time food was very bad, service was OK.
Nothing was really good or really bad - just ok. We were surprised that there is not a dedicated Gluten-Free menu. Shame on us for not knowing that in advance however having a GF menu has become a normal in everyday dining. We asked and a server (not ours) told us how we could make several items GF. So, if you need or want Gluten-Free dining, go elsewhere like we will until The Smith comes up with an appropriate menu.
Mother’s Day brunch with my son was GREAT. My services Krystal was amazing. Despite the volume of customers, Krystal was very attentive and offered tons of suggestions with it being my first time at The Smith.
This is a fabulous restaurant. We visited for brunch on a Saturday and loved the food. I can't wait to go back. We visited the Penn Quarter location so were able to walk to the Renwick afterward and see the exhibits. We will definitely go back.
They sat us 30 min later than our reservation at a outside table when we wanted to be seated inside
A shadow of its New York siblings. The service was so poor we had to (twice) alert management that we were not being taken care of. Wrong orders to table. Repeatedly having to ask where our waitress was. None of thjs is excusable even on a busy night, but the restaurant was barely at 75% capacity.
Won’t be going back. Too many decent options in the city to waste time there again.
I call this high end bar food in a nice clean atmosphere. Wine selection was not great, but most folks around us had beer or cocktails. I would go back again.
The overall experience was good, but the noise was very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation. The crab bites appetizer was good and the entree was a good portion and delicately seasoned. The lemon cake strawberry dessert was all whipped cream and air -- not worth the $10 price tag. We will try another D.C. restaurant next time.
Perfect classic urban dining.
Very good and will come again next time
Food and drinks are great but it is sooooooo loud.
Excellent for early dinner before Ford's Theater - loved our table at the edge of the open door and that they were fine with us splitting our dinner. Great drinks!
We, a party of 4 arrived at noon for our reservation. We were seated upon arrival and did not see a waitress for at least 10 minutes. Once our order was taken it took another 35 -40 minutes for it to arrive. Another table that was seated after us, had their order taken by the same waitress had their food arrive 10 minutes before us. When our food finally arrived, we received no apology from the waitress and she never checked back to see if we needed anything. When she did finally stop by it was to drop off the check, never asked if we wanted or needed anything else and when asked why she seemed to ignore us, she was rude.
Perfect place to host a team breakfast. Staff was polite & professional. We never waited for anything.
Stopped in for brunch, but found it to be average. Food was ok... drinks were so so and the service was extremely slow.
Wife and I ate brunch there on Sunday. Food was interesting although part of my meal came out cold. She liked her meal more than I liked mine. Service was not good. Resturaunt is VERY loud. Prices weren't too bad. Might be fun at night.
All around nice place to go but it was a little loud and hard to hear.
We love the Smith, it’s our go to anytime we visit DC. I love the interior and the food. It’s such a good vibe you just feel cooler having entered the space. I recommend it to anyone new to DC who wants a cool, fun space. Just beware that big booties don’t sit too comfortably on the small bistro seats. The booths though are perfect for sitting and taking your time!
Great place that I’d revisit and highly recommend. The menu, while not extensive, allows you to find a delicious and nicely presented meal to please any taste or need.
Service was excellent from a very pleasant and friendly young man named Kaseim.
The only thing that concerned us was the fact that a man begging for money was allowed to meander through the café tables outside and through the open-air doorways seeking a hand-out. The management needs to address that security lapse. That’s not something one should have to deal with when dining.
This was a great place to eat right beside the portrait gallery. The windows and doors were open and it was perfect weather. The waiter was awesome and he charged our phone for us as we ate and brought it back to us. We had the smashed chicken. It was to die for. Tender and crisp and juicy inside. We had a great time and it was reasonable in price. My spouses last name is Smith so we had fun with taking photos by the tile floor that said Smith!
First time there.
Tables are too close together, but food is very good.
Food was cold. A friend had to send her entree back because it wasn’t cooked properly. Service was super super super slow. Appetizer and entrees came out at the same time. One of the worst dining experiences I have had in recent memory.
We sat down and our server stopped by to get a drink order. We didn't see her for another 20+ minutes. After asking for a manager twice I will credit the manager as he came right over took our order and we had our food in 10 min or less. He saved the experience but the server continued to just disappear throughout the meal and was probably one of the worst server's I've ever had in my life (and I used to be a server so I'm pretty open minded when it comes to bad service). But this was top 3 worst ever in my life. Again credit to the manager for stepping in but then they didn't even comp a round of drink or anyone's meal which was not expected but would have been a nice gesture.
The staff is very attentive at The Smith-especially the bus person. He was very personable and most helpful.
