Great brunch! The menu has a wide variety. The breakfast potatoes have a unique spice and crispy. We tried the sweet chicken sausage - very good! A couple of the men in the group ordered the eggs Benedict. They loved it. Will be back
Delicious steaks and cocktails. The pasta dishes are also to die for. Great for a special occasion.
Food is great!! The only improvement I would make is that they chill all their wines (Red and White). I would also check the quality of the wine if it was sitting in the bottle from the day before.
The Smith is a beautifully designed restaurant with excellent service at the concierge station and the bar (did not get a table). The dinner apps and entrees we tried were delicious, but quite small and so not the best value for the price. Dinner/drink service at the bar was outstanding. The Montepulciano selection was putrid, but kudos for having a very good Wilamette Valley Pinot Noir. It would be great if the bar could add more gin cocktails. Beyond that, the restaurant was clean, very loud, and quite busy. The bar area got extremely crowded making it hard to finish eating without standing patrons hovering over us for drinks. Advice: Drink at the bar, eat at a table, and order several apps with your entrees.
Brunch was delicious...the only thing holding me back from giving higher score was the temperature of my food. The potatoes were piping hot and crispy sooo good....the benedict could have been much warmer. My husband had the Texas toast dish and thought it was mind blowing...but also could have ben much warmer.
Food was great, service was great, people were super friendly, however the reason for the low rating was the wait for our table. Our party had to wait an hour and 15 minutes to be sat for a reservation which was pretty upsetting.
Nothing against The Smith! They were lovely, comped a round of drinks and was extremely attentive. Just seemed overbooked.
I was really disappointed they removed the spicy fried chicken from their daily menu.
The first time I went to The Smith it was outstanding. I brought a business associate here on my second visit and really raved about the place, BUT it was 180 degrees in the other direction. Steaks overcooked, poor service, and just disappointing all around.
A very pleasant evening.
This was the BEST Brunch I have had in years! Food and Service was amazing!
The food was wonderful, the free cocktail with a breakfast meal was a huge value. The biggest issue was the noise level was off the charts. You had to scream at the person across from you to be heard.
We had a great time at The Smith. We went for brunch and were pleasantly surprised to find that brunch entrees came with a cocktail or juice! The food was delicious and service was great. We will definitely be returning.
Emily the manager is simply amazing. By the way get the cookies.
Our first visit to The Smith for brunch. Noise level as usual --loud and not conversation friendly. Service was slow, almost 30 minutes to get food. Brunch menu good value: food plus alcoholic beverage included.
They have a really good brunch. I ordered the Benedict with the corn cake on the bottom....it was delicious.
Amazing brunch experience!
Great menu, were happy with our choices- steak and lobster dishes, but could’ve realistically picked another 5-6 dishes and been happy. Will be back!
Great food in a thriving urban hub of chic food, great wine and an ideal place to forge new friendships
The food was the highlight, I had the trout with curry and it was fantastic! The place was incredibly loud, so if you are sensitive to that, ask to be seated away from the bar. We went on Halloween, but my guess is that it is a popular spot because the food and service is top notch.
First time diner. Went on a cold and wet Chicago evening. Food was excellent and the menu made it hard to choose what to order. Service was excellent and the waitstaff provided insights as to the menu items. Had the Sticky pudding for dessert. They need to change the menu to simply have big arrows pointing to this item saying ORDER THIS! it was incredible.
Great place for a business meal- the ambiance is warm and the food was great. Generally I wouldn’t comment on this but the iced tea was especially tasty. I will be back and would recommend The Smith to anyone in the loop in Chicago!
The staff was great, the food was good but it was so loud! Perhaps it’s the tile all over the walls that makes it that way but we could barely have a conversation.
Celebration end of chemo for my cousin!
The best oyesters always
Went to the restaurant with a reservation. We were seated at a not so good table. Asked to change. We're offered another table but people were just getting up. Asked to wait a few minutes. While we were waiting, another couple walks in and promptly seated at a better table which weren't offered.
Finally, sat at the table. Busboy comes over with water and bread. No waiter. Lots of waiters walking around but no one comes to our table. Finally, after 15' give up and go somewhere else. Not recommended.
The list of food on the menu all looked amazing so it was hard to select just one brunch item. Everyone enjoyed their food as well as the cocktail that was included! Wonderful friendly service and fun environment - worth many return visits.
Really cool venue. Personable staff, delicious food and drink options. Very accommodating of our picky eater's meal request. On the noisy side but in a busy, fun way. We will definitely be back.
Wonderful Sunday brunch! Can’t wait to go back for another meal and try the raw bar! Best service by wonderful team!
Much like the Smith in ny, this serves a purpose of an average dinner in a busy atmosphere.
Very good service and the food was delicious. I recommend the duck wings! Old fashions were also perfectly made.
There are unique food options to choose from! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Only reason for rating 4 stars on Ambience is we were seated in a high traffic area so we always felt in the way.
Nice looking, fun place...only problem is it’s too loud, hard to hold a conversation. The tile walls/ceiling must reflect the noise. Besides that the drinks, food, and ambiance are great!
As usual the food was great! The Thursday pork schnitzel special was outstanding!!!!! The noise level makes it totally impossible to carry on a conversation. If you want a quiet dining experience, this is not the place.
We all ordered the chicken pot pie w/ different appetizers and sides. The pot pie had dark meat and a mushroom wine gravy which wasn't a good combo. None of the 3 people in my party liked it, but the mac n cheese, smashed potatoes a d hummus were fantastic. The manager took the pot pies off the tab a d offered a other entree, but we refused since the sides filled us up. She still sent us home with free cookies and apple pie. Fantastic service and based on that and the side would dine there again!
Great lunch/brunch spot. Large menu with solid choices for all. Food was very good -- though far too many French fries per plate, even for the 14 year old in the group. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Very good overall. Straightforward American grill.
It took a long time to get our appetizers, but there service was great otherwise.
Had to wait a long time even though we had a reservation.
The Smith offers a beautiful environment to dine in but we went in for brunch at 12:45p on a Saturday (with a reservation) and had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seated. We also had to wait quite a while to place our order. We, luckily, received our food relatively quickly and the food was good! We were there to celebrate a birthday and, unfortunately, the restaurant was not one where they give you a small dish for celebrations. Overall, a good experience and would recommend!
We loved the ambiance and the food and beverage. It just took a little time to get it all. Not a major factor for us for a leisurely brunch, but may be for others i.e. service/kitchen was really slow.
The woman greeting us at the door was very pleasant and provided frequent table status updates (we had a reservation) with a great attitude while we waited at the bar. This was very much appreciated! People in the service industry (much like myself) should take note of her demeanor!!
Regardless of slowdowns, we will definitely be back for future dining experiences!!
