Not my first time but my last, food was cold and very small portions of meat. Service was slow felt like an inconvenience not a guest. No one on desk at arrival no table prepared. Waited 6 minutes for a menu another 10 for or order to be taken. Drinks l lost count. Meal was warm not hot portion of meat were clearly designed for profit overall meal was very disappointing. Service was very poor clearly not staffed properly. Only positive a lady that served the desert was the first time we were treated with the respect a guest deserves.

Such a stunning location especially on a sunny day. The food was tasty and good value. The staff could've been a bit more attentive in clearing the table and a little more friendly.

Disappointing Sunday dinner. Reserved table was only partly set when we arrived and had drink spilt all over one side. 2 of us had the heritage tomato salad to start which was pretty tasteless, pate - but no bread for another. For mains 2 roasts dinners were fine and I had fish of the day with boiled new potatoes which was under seasoned and the potatoes tasteless. The bill was incorrect when we came to pay and took ages to get sorted. The location is beautiful but we wouldn’t go again.

The food was good, but not exceptional and to my mind a bit overpriced. The waiting staff were excellent: most welcoming, friendly and helpful. The option of being able to sit in the quiet spacious restaurant,on a very hot day when the garden was busy, was very welcome.

I ate with my family in the bar last Saturday night. I'm honestly reluctant to leave a bad review but there were a couple of things that just shouldn't have happened. Firstly the waitress clearly did not like the barman and made that very obvious, which was awkward. I cannot speak for everyone else's starters but I had the 'heritage tomato salad' which was three tomatoes, quartered and served in a small, steep-sided bowl. I really don't want to sound mean but I absolutely despair at what must go on in the kitchen - the tomatoes had been extremely chilled and had developed that unpleasant, fluffy texture and the flavour profile had been destroyed. Why they could not have been stored at room temperature, nicely sliced and presented on a plate is beyond me - it would have looked so much nicer and been so much easier to eat (not that I ate much of mine). My partner has the 'sweet potato and lentil dahl', which really as ANYONE knows should have a soupy consistency. Alas, it was served as a stiff and utterly unappealing dollop on the plate. It is absolutely not what a dahl should be! When it gets thick let it down with some stock! it's not hard to make food appealing and tasty, and it's disappointing and frustrating that in a professional kitchen these sort of errors are occurring. We would have complained at the time, but as we all know sometimes it's easier just to get through dinner with one's family without adding to the stress ; ) And in the interests of balance I have to say that the cod I had a main course was very nice!
