Can’t wait to go back! My new favorite place! Service was amazing. The patio was lovely. Food was excellent especially the Antipasto Platter. How awesome to have the BYOB with no corkage fee.
I ordered what was supposed to be grilled shrimp-it came in a bowl of overcooked angel hair pasta, about 5 shrimp in all, tough and also overcooked. My friend ordered the lemon chicken-it was served on a tiny little plate, like a salad plate. Every time she tried to cut into it sauce and vegetables over flowed all over the table. Our server was very nice, but no one ever cleared our plates. There were flies everywhere swarming over the food. So, no. Would not go back. Would not recommend.
The worst experience, period.
So FYI, I'm not one really writes Opentable reviews, but once in a while, one visits a place that is so good (or bad in this case) that it warrants 10-15 minutes out of my day.
Enjoy my rant.
After noticing this cute restaurant on melrose I decided to make a reservation for my girlfriend and I last Sat night. If this place stays in business for less 6 months, I'd be shocked. Keep in mind, they are only in month 3.
I would say 20% of the items listed on the menu were either not available or the waiter claimed that the restaurant did not carry that item. This game of "do have and don't have" continued back and forth 3 times. My girlfriend is lactose intolerant and I made sure that nothing we ordered had cheese on it. Of course, the menu said they had had vegan cheese pizza, "but that was a mistake that is going to change", according to our waiter, "it's just a pizza, with no cheese". I asked if the meatballs had cheese on it and he double-checked with the kitchen and said no. After asking for lemon for my water for the 4th time, I decided to go inside and track down my server. He apologized (was on his phone by the bar) and handed me half of a lemon. I started walking back towards my table he said "meatballs will be out in a minute, but don't worry I double-checked, no cheese on top, however, there is cheese inside"....the incompetence of both the staff and kitchen at this point had no bounds.
To wrap things up, our food was only served 30 minutes after the people who came after us, our appetizers came at the time our meal....and the icing on top the cake, they screwed up my girlfriend's order.
Coming from a family in the food and hospitality business, I'd be mortified to have guests experience what we did. I do not recommend "sitting down" at this restaurant. The name is very misleading.
We been a few times and it better each time. We always get the same waiter whip a nice guy. Food has always been good. We love it.
The second time around was much better. We really enjoyed the service, the food was great, and my GF loved the experience. We will be back! Highly recommend!
I'll be honest: I only went to The Sit Down because I wanted to book a 1000-point table and it was in the right area. But I really enjoyed myself and am planning on going back. I met up with a friend there and we split a ceasar salad while I had the penne alla vodka and she had gnocchi. The portions are very generous and the food is great. I really loved the vodka sauce. We were also given fresh baked bread which was delicious. Our wait service was very friendly and conscientious but they oddly brought out the pasta before the salad (I think they forgot to get the salad made) and, when they did bring it out, neglected to bring out salad plates. We still tipped well because, overall, they were very nice and welcoming.
Know before you go that this place is a BYOB place and there's no corkage. If we had known, we would have brought a bottle with us!
This was a new place for us and The food was real good. Our main order was messed up due to a slip up by kitchen which reflects on Wait staff. We will check it out again and see if they can get it right the second time around. The ambiance was romantic and quiet my girlfriend loved it.
Once we had sat down the waitress told us that the pizza oven was not working. Considering this is a mainly a pasta and pizza place that meant that have the menu was not available. They didn't have their alcohol licences yet so we had to walk down to CVS to get a bottle of wine. We asked the waitress for some pasta suggestions and went along with her after she praised the buccatini carbonara for the great shpae and texture of the pasta and another pasta with shrimp and mushrooms and a bisque sauce. When the pastas came, firstly the carbonara was not made with the buccatini but they had substituted in penne. Then the sauce had no pancetta, the main ingredient in a carbonara and instead had spinach?? It didn't have the usual egg flavor either. Then on tasting the shrimp pasta we realized that they had put the carbonara sauce on that one and not the bisque sauce. Even the waitress agreed it was all wrong. She tried her best but the kitchen let her down at every turn. Even the cappuccino we ordered at the end was just a shot of coffee and a cup's worth of scolding milk. Will never go back
It was a great experience except they charged my credit card 2 times.
A nice find off Melrose. Robust flavors. Excellent customer service.
Very cozy and friendly!
WE ARRIVED AND WERE GREETED WELL, THE WHITE SAUCE PIZZA WAS GREAT! TRIED DIFFERENT DISHES, I RECOMMEND THE CHICKEN PARMESAN WITH GRILLED VEGETABLES , THE HALF ROASTED CHICKEN WAS GREAT ALSO ALONG WITH THE LAVENDER LEMONADE...
I love the Sit Down in Los Feliz so was excited to see one opened up in West Hollywood near me! It's has such a fun, low-key vibe and the staff is so friendly. All the pizzas I've tried are delicious and so is the ensalada mista! Oh and it's BYOB! Dream!
