Food was delicious and the service was amazing. Our server Sasha went above and beyond. The Brown stew snapper was 10/10.
Food was really good but the service was really slow. Had to ask for a waitor and different things several times.
So much fun , good vibes & great food!!!! The staff is amazing. For sure will be going back!!!
Excellent experience all around. Had a 6:45 reservation, arrived at 6:47 and we were seated immediately. Had drinks in front of us before 7 and food on our table by 7:15. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. We had the Jerk Chicken and the Fried Chicken and I don't know if I'd ever been more compelled to offer compliments to the chef. Not only was the food great the serving size was impressive. We definitely got our money's worth. Drinks were delicious and strong. Overall a top notch dinner.
My first experience at this restaurant was not great. My friends and I visited the restaurant before attending the Mary J. Blige concert. Service was horrible, but the little bit of food I did get to taste was good, so we came back the next day to get the full experience. It was a very pleasurable experience, the food and drinks were great. The staff was pleasant and service was excellent and the owner was apologetic about our first experience and thankful that we came back.
I had a 6:30pm reservation on the night of the Mary J Blige concert. Apparently the restaurant was not aware of the the event. They allowed overbookings of reservations that evening.
I checked in and was still standing there at 7:40 for my 6:30 reservation. The hostess kept saying she would go get a table ready for me. Then she wouldn’t return for a long time. The last time she said she would seat us she left us waiting for about 20 minutes. We got the message and finally left. We didn’t get seated. We didn’t eat.
I try my best to support black owned businesses, but what happened that night was unacceptable. Number 1, why didn’t the restaurant know about the huge concert happening that night?
Number 2, if you know the situation, hold a meeting with your employees for a plan of action. There was clearly no direction provided for the hostess.
Third, don’t tell patrons you are going to do something that you know you don’t plan to do. Why string me along and keep saying you will seat me when I overheard a waitress tell you not to seat anyone else?
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with dining out. I planned it well in advance and the simpsons restaurant disappointed in each and every way.
I’ve been to the establishment before, and the food is decent. But when I travel over and hour and plan weeks in advance, I do not expect that level of unprofessionalism. I will take my dollars elsewhere.
We went to celebrate my mother’s birthday. The staff was great and she really enjoyed their singing. For appetisers we enjoyed the coconut shrimp, salt fish with ackee and bammie, and codfish fritters. They were all delicious. The jerk salmon was moist and delicious. The brown stew red snapper was fantastic.
We were received with a smile and courtesy. The restaurant was appealing to the eye! We were served promptly and always with a smile. The food was attractive and very tasty!
Took my mother there for her birthday - the food was amazing - delicious, authentic Jamaican food. The wait staff was friendly, courteous, and treated us like family. I will definitely make more visits!
Celebrated my daughters birthday in nyc and we ate a great meal before flying back to Florida. You must try the Hennessey cheesecake order 3 to travel back home with. Always a great time eating here.
Met for Friday early evening birthday dinner at The Simpson. I thought the place was actually bigger on the inside however the seating settings were good. Overall we enjoyed most of the food and drinks. Some thought the food was a bit too spicy. The spice level was good for my taste buds. I would visit again and also recommend it.
Service, presentation and food quality was excellent! I am definitely coming back here
10/10, great food, great ambiance, affordable eats, delicious food and drinks, great service! Will recommend to others and will be back!
I had a reservation for 6:15pm. My entire party arrived by 6:22pm. The website states that there is a 15 minutes grace period for reservations before your reservation is cancelled. When I checked in, I was told that there would be a wait but was told that they could not specify how long the wait would be at that point. I was in town to see a show at the Barclays Center across the street from the restaurant.
I checked in with the host stand over four times (I lost count) and kept being told that they were seating reservations as they arrived as seating became available. At 6:55pm we were asked would a high top table suffice and I of course jumped at the opportunity to be seated (even if it meant being uncomfortable throughout my meal).
Upon being seated we were greeted by our server and ordered both our appetizers and entrees as we expressed to the server that we were late for the show across the street. Our appetizers came and were finished and we had not received our drinks. A busboy came and cleared our appetizers and told us he would bring us new silverware. The entrees came and no new silverware was brought. We have to wait another 5-10 minutes before grabbing some from the bar. A few minutes later, our drinks arrived.
The restaurant cleared out all at once, as apparently the vast majority of the crowd was also there for the show. I am happy that THEY got to see all of the show. Eventually a manager type came by and asked how things were going. I expressed to him our experience, he replied, “Yes. We try to get people to leave in a timely fashion when their meal is finished but there isn’t much we can do if they linger.”
I could imagine that it is a challenge to turn tables over under all circumstances. I have seen restaurants with written visible policies that state a time limit for the table. Of everything that made our experience negative, I think the biggest part was being asked and having nothing done. Even Outback would have comped my drink!!
Top notch, friendly service. Tasty, flavorful food. Large portions at reasonable prices. Delicious, strong drinks. Fun, relaxed vibe. Lively music. Everything one could ask for in a dining experience. Highly recommended.
You probably already know this is a great place to visit…Delicious food and great atmosphere.. one of the best staff encountered….Excellent services.. the music volume was just the right tone to have a great afternoon … I was able to have a conversation with my family without shouting . Already planning my return visit ..Thank you Mr Simpson & Anthony for a great first experience --
Too pricey for the quality of food. The presentation was great but jerk wings was burned.
Amazing! Great service! Food delicious!
Food is ok - the ambiance is great
Took a while to get my order taken at the bar. The Spanish female bartender with the long black ponytail had a terrible attitude. She kept saying she's the only one doing the servers drinks she's too busy. Ahhh, sounds like you can't handle it & we were trying g to figure out "why ate you complaining to us?, confused". She should not work busy nights She was the WORST! the guy that was back there with her was trying to do damage control from her wrecking ball attitude.
Managers and staff are very courteous and professional. You are given a warm welcome upon entering which is nice. The place is clean and has a nice ambiance. The food is good and the drinks are also good. I recommend the drink called "ULTRA". The curry shrimp is also very good.
The only drawback is that the menu is limited and there is no substitution for the sides. I wish the majority of the seafood dishes came with potato or some other choice than rice and peas. If you want to substitute a side you have to order it separately.
All in all, it is a nice place to have dinner with family, friends or your significant other.
Food and service was amazing
My experience was awesome (due to the time of day it was early evening) - server was super helpful!
It’s was good everything was perfect the food was delicious and drinks very nice
Food and ambiance was great. Service was a little slow.Overall the food and drinks were good. Will definitely return
I was really excited to try out this restaurant as it was shared with me by multiple persons. My excitement dwindled quickly upon arrival to the restaurant. I requested standard seating and was told that there was only availability in the bar area on the high stools although I saw open seating on the other side of the restaurant. While sitting there the owner/chef of the restaurant passed right by our table and didn't say a word. You would think since this is a new establishment that he would at least wave or say hello and thank you for coming but instead he looked and turned his head. We saw our drinks sitting at the bar as staffed carried on conversations and no one made an effort to find our server or bring them over. So much for teamwork. It appears our waiter was busy serving others and this continued throughout the night. After having our appetizers we waited at least 1 and a 1/2 hours to receive our meal. During this time the waiter continued to pass by but would not make eye contact and eventually after beckoning him and inquiring about our entrées his response was oh you guys didn't get your food. The manager then came over and said he would look into it. We received our food a few minutes later and he explained that perhaps another server picked up my dish which was the stuffed snapper. He tried to rectify the situation by comping 2 drinks but it still didn't make up for the inconvenience. Our reservation was 4:45 and we never left there until after 8 o'clock not by choice but because of how long everything took. We ordered the codfish fritters, stuff macaroni & cheese balls, the oxtail, and the stuffed snapper. The food was subpar and not worth the wait. I will not recommend this establishment nor patronize it again.

Experience was very good
The meals were delicious! The staff was polite and helpful plus the service was very good. Classy setting with great music playing at just the right volume. I will definitely revisit to sample other dishes on the menu!
The food was great, Jamaican Caribbean...Very tasty and good portions. The atmosphere and ambience suited our moment "bday celebration", the dress code was casual chic, an upscale feel. The bar area is definitely ample and well appointed. Will visit again.
Beautiful Resturant… I love it
Very good vibes and food
Good was great. Our server Tasha was very helpful. I would recommend this restaurant.
This was My 2nd time there. We Had a great time! Service and food was amazing
Great food and service. Been here before and it never disappoints. Will be going back
Great food and close to Barclays center. Very happy we chose it.
Definitely had a great time. I appreciated them accommodating my family and I. Well be returning.
To start our wait time to be seated was 20-30 min. Not sure why when i reserved my parents bday dinner a week in advance. Also, the restaurant was practically empty. Food is good. Restaurant needs to make sure they have the basic beverages available to customers . Seemed like what my guests wanted, they didn’t have.
Service could have been better. No excuse to wait 25-30 min to receive a bill. I’m guessing it must have been an off day for the restaurant. I picked this restaurant based off good reviews. I might try to dine here again.
Very excited to try The Simpson. Hadn’t had authentic Jamaican food in a long time. The Honey curry wings appetizer was delicious! A very unique flavor, fried to perfection.
This was my first time at The Simpsons and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the ambience was nice and classy, the server and host were gracious and very helpful. I had the oxtails with butter beans with a side of macaroni pie. My sister went for the bone-in ribeye. All of the food was very well seasoned and flavorful while cooked to perfection. You could tell the ribeye had been marinated because the flavor was throughout the meat. The drinks were also on point - not watered down. We even ordered food to take home so we could try more of the menu. Let me just say the jerk wings were superb. I have already recommended this place to several of my friends. It would also be a great, convenient location for events and fellowships. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was fantastic poor service. Chef was fantastic
