Fantastic happy hour menu! We were thrilled to be able to eat the Shuckery’s delicious food in the fun atmosphere of the hotel courtyard.
Amazing experience. The service, food and ambiance were all incredible.
The service and food were excellent. The outdoor seating was cute and each table had their own heater.
My favorite restaurant in Petaluma! Amazing food, ambiance and service!
Food was amazing. Unique dishes with lost of choices of fish. Small place with open kitchen so very very noisy. Not a place for a romantic date or soft spoken group of people. Weird is they do not bring you a bill. They read it off to you and then you agree to it and then they take the money. We wanted to see the bill and they said we had to wait until AFTER we paid it. So we get home and look at the bill in mor detail and find out they had added a 4% surcharge. So you now have tax of 9% plus 4% surcharge. Now time to tip. Hang on to your wallet for this experience.
Great outdoor ambiance. We enjoyed tacos and a beer on the patio. It was a great date night
Outstanding food marred by terrible, hamfisted service. I really wanted to like The Shuckery — the space is beautifully designed, the courtyard set up is lovely, and the food was delicious. However, the dining experience left us deeply soured — our server was inattentive and slow, the food was delivered haphazardly with starters arriving after the main (set expectations if food comes out as it's ready), and silverware had to requested twice (and was cleared but not replaced, despite a request) — we had to eat our main sharing a fork. By the end of our meal, we couldn't wait to leave, and took our remaining wine home rather than finish it there. Given the prices, the pride of place they hold at the classy Hotel Petaluma, and the attention to detail evident in their design and covid precautions (the whole staff is vaccinated), I expected far better.
Other reviewers report wonderful service — the tables across the courtyard looked to be receiving wonderful, friendly service (from a different server) and the host staff was great — but consistency matters.
The food was very good and the service would have been to except for the fact the whole fish arrived as a whole fish and the only help offered, even when we asked, was to give us what looked like steak knife. In our efforts to debone the fish we literally mutilated it. For whatever reason a nicely fileted piece fish tastes better than a ragged hunk hiding a bit of bone. There was very little evidence of distancing being practiced. The table next to us seated 4 people after the two of us were seated and for me to leave the table the gentleman closest to me had to move his chair to let me out. Every seat at the bar was in use. As far as masks go they disappeared quickly after people ordered. I am hesitant to return until life moves closer to normal.
We had a great time ! Food was excellent/oysters ! Service was lovely.. highly recommend...
Made reservations for 7pm on a Saturday night and got seated immediately. We got waters right away however it Took our server about 15-20 mins to greet us. By the time she did greet us we placed our drinks, appetizers, and meals in.
As always, the food is delicious. Oysters are fresh. We got the garlic oil and bread basket. Also the buffalo cauliflower appetizer. The trio taco bar and seafood Del Mar.
They got the patio set up very comfortable. Spaced out. And space heaters for each table.
Great job Shuckery!! Keep up the good work.
We had a very nice time at the Shuckery! Food was very good! Service was excellent! The only problem was being outside under the tent, the wind was blowing a little and it was reasonably cold!! They did have radiant heaters setup which helped a lot. But when seating moves back inside it will be great! My only food complaint is the happy hour oysters are very small, very good but very small.
But we forgot to take any pics to show the food we ordered, darn!
Food was amazing.... a little cold even with the heat lamp, but so worth it.
Really lovely evening. Great food, accommodating and helpful staff.
We enjoyed our dinner last weekend and decided to have a repeat Friday night dinner. It was an awesome experience once again.
Food was great, service slow and confused, they couldn't find forks for oysters, then the bread took fifteen minutes to table, it seemed to be first night for the staff.
I'm glad you enjoyed our fresh foodie-driven menu! You are 100% correct after a year of furloughing our employees and reopening our restaurant for the 5th time we reopened in Feb with a new staff. We are training as fast as possible to get everyone up to speed. As much as the government like to flip a light switch to re-open business restaurants are not like retail and it just doesn't work this way. Please visit us again soon and update that review - we are know for our customer service.
Celebrated my birthday with my husband. We share the Catch of the Day dinner for 2. Presentation was spot on
Thank you! We love birthdays.
Lovely and warm outdoor dining. Excellent gluten free menu options. And the best oysters of course.
yay! thanks for the review.
Food was great and the server and host helped get our table a heat lamp. Very friendly service and quality food. Clams and muscles were great!
Had the fish for two and it was delicious! Highly recommended for date night!!
The Shuckery was a deluge of seafood from start to finish and once we were done drowning in it, we left as happy as a clam.
During Covid, tables are outside by the entrance of the Hotel Petaluma. Get the fish for 2. It's served whole like in Europe and it's served with salad, veggie and smashed crispy potatoes. Staff are quick and efficient.
Excellent, friendly and welcoming staff, fresh oysters were wonderful, we ordered the fish for 2 which was cooked to perfection and the salads and sides that came with it were delicious and generous. The owners did a great job of creating outdoor space in the adjacent hotel courtyard with heaters to accommodate guests. Highly recommend.
Excellent on all levels, thanks for making my birthday dinner special in these challenging times!
Such a unique setting for a restaurant, it should be on everyone's must try list. And the food does not disappoint either :)
Fabulous food, wonderful service. Very knowledgeable waitress who made excellent recommendations.
Excellent service, beautiful and quaint and the food was spectacular!
Excellent service, fantastic food. Beautiful ambiance.
Fantastic! Crews are amazing! Will definitely come back.
Can’t say enough about this little gem of a place. Even with the limited seating they surpass expectations. Great menu, attentive service and charming location.
Very nice under the Covid circumstances the staff was very cautious and paid attention to details.
The food was amazing and the service was outstanding!! The seating in the hotels beautiful courtyard made me feel like I was back in Europe. Highly recommend!
Wonderful service and excellent food! Every dish was delicious!
We really enjoyed our experience. Beautiful venue. The food was very nice.
However, we are in the wine country and the wine list was weak to say the very least. I suggest they have a wine professional help them. We had a Matthiasson Chardonnay which was very thin and un-interesting and with all the good chardonnay's out there!! I would suggest they ditch the foriegn wines and replace with our own lovely california choices.
I might add that we appreciated that the wines were affordable....thank you for that.
Food is expensive and small. Chips they give you were very greasy. What saved the rating was that we got there doing happy hour. We were told 1.50 for oysters. We LOVE oysters so we bought 40. Overheard manager say to the waitress when did we serve more than 2 dozen oysters than happy hour. Btw we were 2 short lol.
I ordered the steak and fries. It was warm and smallllll.. wife had mussels and clams. They were ok. I probably wont eat there again.
Love this place! Very fresh local fish!
Had a very nice dinner. Service was solid and the food was great
This is NOT Mr. Doug Patterson's email address!
You have apparently accepted a membership for your reservation service and NOT checked/confirmed the applicants information.
exception service, beautifully presented but somewhat underwhelming taste... just lacked the punch to be first rate.
This was my third time in probably 1.5 months going to the Schuckery!! This time I brought my mom. Per usual it was the most spectacular meal!! The seafood is so fresh and delicious!! My mom was so utterly impressed and wants to go back ASAP!!!! I also must input that last time I went, they had their Fish and Chips available and it was BY FAR the best fish and chips I have ever had in my entire life. This place is my absolute favorite restaurant! Also, once again, the staff is so kind, helpful and just enjoyable to be around!!!
Nice outdoor setting and excellent meal as before the pandemic.
