Hands down the best clam chowder I have ever had. All the food was beyond excellent. I have found my new favorite restaurant.

First time here. Food was excellent and creative. The three dozen oysters we had were very good. Unique chowder, wonderful calamari and super trout tartare.
Highly recommended.

Carly was an amazing server. She went above and beyond her duties; also super energetic, friendly and helpful. The food was all amazing and we ate every little bite of it. We will definitely be back again.

Other than the noise factor, we loved everything about the Shuckery. We will go back but, there should be something that can be done to muffle the noise.

Need to be careful in what is ordered. Chef needs to be trained up a few notches. Their signature clam chowder was gummy, rather bland and appeared to have been prepared the day before. Ceviche was strangely prepared in an untraditional way. Thick and overly spicy with unrecognizable vegetables. The relatively small amount of fish was overwhelmed by the thick and dark sauce. I tried the dungeness sandwich, which was accompanied by french fries that were limp and not at all crsip. There was a very small amount of crab meat which was mixed with fillers. Would not recommend this anyone who loves fresh dungeness crab. Oysters, however were wonderful. Fresh, presented well and tasty. Sea Bass entre was nicely prepared and ample in size. Wait staff properly decanted our aged wine selection. Difficult to carry on conversations due to the high noise level.

The oysters are fresh, the food is delicious. I loved the Rose wine I ordered and the service was wonderful. I do recommend getting a reservation as it is a small place and gets busy!

Such a cool place with amazing seafood. Took our daughter here for her 21st birthday because she wanted fresh oysters and Champagne. And this could not have been a better pick! Will be back for sure!

The oysters and both of our entrees were outstanding: fresh, well prepared, delicious. We also had a first rate wine at a reasonable price. Service was excellent; attentive, but not at all fussy. A real find.

A restaurant called The Shuckery should have a larger choice of excellent oysters and sparkling wines. Our choices were limited and the wines were disappointing. The wait staff is well-intentioned, but too quick to ask how the food was and to remove plates. The ceviche was overwhelmed by the tomato sauce. The smoked trout was delicious.

Food and service was really good! It took a little longer than expected to get our meals, but it was made up for with the extra oysters we were given when they had made too many. The oysters were our favorite things we had! They were very accommodating, as we had young children with us. Our server was very helpful and it’s obvious the owners take great pride in their restaurant.

Most of the food was excellent. I had complained twice to the waitress that the calamari was like rubber and left most of it uneaten. I was still charged full price and $2.00 for 4 small pieces of bread . I thought charging for an inedible dish and charging for bread was a bit cheap. for a dinner for two, including only one beer and one glass of wine for $130 + tip. The rest of the meal was pricey and with small portions but the service was great and the food was delicious.

We LOVE the Shuckery! The food was delicious as always...especially enjoyed the fish tacos and the clams and housemade sausage. Our server, Jenny was delightful. Can't wait until next time.

Just stopped in for small plates and beer, so didn't get to try the great-looking oyster selection or any of the specialties. Day-boat scallops were wonderful; crab cakes were pretty good, but I'm a Marylander so I'll probably never be satisfied with West Coast crab cakes. Nice beer list. The room was lively but not overly loud, service was prompt and friendly, and the kitchen staff were really working hard. We would definitely go back.

The Shuckery was quite good when it opened. In fact, it's been good every time we've gone, except the past two times. This last time, the service was extremely mediocre- we felt when we walked in like the woman was NOT happy to see us -- and then she continued to behave as if she was slightly put out that we were there. The food, was also mediocre. In the past I've loved their clam chowder -- the best in Petaluma. The past two times -- not good. In fact this last time I ordered a bowl (for $9 or something) and it came in an oval bowl that was literally filled about 2 1/2 inches deep with chowder. It was also too thick and clumpy. I also ordered the fish tacos which had almost no flavor (I was NOT expecting that), but seemed fresh enough. My mother ordered the seafood stew, which though good, seemed as if it had too much flavor (both of us agreed on this) or too much going on in the bowl. This was a disappointment, as I have been to the Shuckery perhaps 6-10 times in the past few years. I don't think I'll be going again. The expense was way to high to have mediocre food and mediocre service. The ambience continues to feel cosy.

Excellent food and service. I have been meaning to go there since they opened (3 years ago now) and it did not disappoint. Fresh and creative seafood dishes and oysters. Great wine (at good prices) and got to say hello to Jazmine, one of the owners (and part of Oyster Girls). Definitely worth a visit to Petaluma for some outstanding cuisine and experience.

Great service as usual. Killer Oysters one from BC one from Seattle. Both different. Both great. My bride had crab cakes “I thought they were very good. I really did like the crab cakes.” I had the fish tacos. The insides were great, they were on a double taco. the outside one was hard. I removed it and all was well. And the chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert was dandy. We had good wine recommendations. I had a light red from the Loire that was very nice.

We were a party of four so we had a wonderful assortment of different seafood dishes to share. The seafood was amazingly fresh and perfectly prepared. The presentation was lovely and enticing. Service would rival many very fine dining restaurants. One thing to remember is to save room for dessert. We shared four different desserts that were delicious and quite inventive. Our overall experience was excellent and we will be returning.

They need a better wine list, and a couple of the appetizers are too small for the price. But the service is always fabulous and the food is good.

We shared the crab salad and the scallops. The quality of both the crab and scallops was very good. The crab salad was unusual, not bad but not great. Endive and cream cheese. The scallops were prepared nicely but the marinade taste was a bit heavy. I'd try the restaurant again but would try other dishes.

We usually sit at the bar but this time we made a reservation for a table. Good thing we did because every seat at the bar was taken by 5:15pm. We come for the Happy Hour Oysters. During tonight's visit, they were the best we have had yet. We always get the buffalo cauliflower which is always delicious.

Second time to shuckers. The food is delicious and fresh. The menu is pared down for lunch, which was a disappointment. They were out of the oysters that were on the menu, but they recommended an alternative that was nice. It wasn’t busy, but for some reason our waiter was very distracted. He was nice though. It was freezing cold in there, I am always warm, but not in there! We kept our coats on the whole meal. The NOISE was horrible! The dishwasher is practically in the dining area and the music was very loud! I probably wouldn’t go back unless I read of improvements. Thank you

I made a reservation for brunch birthday celebration based on the Sunday brunch menu on line. Unfortunately, their website was out dated, when we got there our party of 6 was informed they didn’t offer brunch any longer! ( for months!!!!)
We were all disappointed and the lunch menu was pretty boring, the food was dry, but the service was good.
I won’t be going back. Unwhelmed, and it was over priced for what they offered. I suggested they have their website updated soon. I tried to call a few times to check on menu, but never got an answer back after leaving a message.
