The oysters were delicious, the halibut was dry. Overall, I thought the meal was overpriced for what we got.
Great dinner! As always. My wife and I live in Petaluma and always love eating at The Shuckery.
Birthday & Anniversary
This was an amazing Open Table find! It was great - in an amazing hotel in downtown Petaluma. They even made me extra bacon wrapped shrimp for desert (since I don't like sweets and everyone else got something! :) GREAT FIND!
Lunch was disappointing....calamari was oily with the batter not on calamari but at the bottom of the bowl.
Had good meals there before but not Saturday lunch.
Loved the modern industrial decor and acoustic music playing while enjoying a nice wine blend and seafood dinner for a date night.
Great menu, fantastic food and even better service. Go and enjoy!
The noise level made the restaurant a one time experience for me and my guest.
Food was just ok and over-priced for what it was.
Waitress was great. She admitted she worries about her hearing working there.
Good food and great service, parking is tough but available with a couple of loops around the block
The waitress was so friendly, fantastic service. My friend is hard of hearing so as the night went on and diners got louder it was hard for him so the waitress suggested we move through to the hotel lobby for our desserts and coffee. What a great idea! Food and wine was great, halibut was excellent.
The oysters and appetizers were outstanding, and the service was exceptional, but the main dishes were disappointing. The crab cakes and shrimp were overcooked and dry.
I am very disappointed with my dining experience at this restaurant. I came here with my parents on Saturday for a lunch. Was really looking forward to having some oysters and fish dishes, however, I was less than satisfied by the quality, quantity and overall cleanliness of the place. It smelled fishy when I walked in and flies were everywhere - that should have been my que to leave, but I decided to stick it out. BIG mistake. We ordered the so called $48 sampler of all the "raw" stuff to start. The dish came out on a 2-tier iced display with literally 9 of the SMALLEST oysters I have ever seen in my life, and I eat oysters on the reg. (I have no idea where one would even find such teeny oysters, it seemed as though we got left-over bottom of the barrel shells. I mean they should be ASHAMED and EMBARASSED by that display.) The other items included in that sampler was a gazpacho, which was ok, some bits of smoked salmon, a SINGLE tostada with fried shrimp, and... another 3 poached shrimp...?? OK, please tell me how exactly it justifies a $48 charge? I was in shock. For the entree we all ordered the fish sampler, and again, the amount of actual fish on the plate was less than adequate, the taste was bland. We got three small little bites fish (that warranted exactly 3 bites,) and a very confusing salad on the side. I mean, nothing went together, the dish had ZERO taste, the fish was clearly not fresh, and I mean I cannot explain how awful the whole experience was. AVOID AVOID AVOID. For a $120 bill we left hungry, confused and quite frankly kind of disgusted, both with the food and the overall greediness of this establishment. You gotta be crazy to give this place more than one star. Take your money elsewhere. P.S. Someone should tell them the carpet on the way to the bathroom stinks!
Excellent clam chowder!
Great local place in downtown Petaluma. Fresh seafood, locally sourced. Excellent service and small, intimate atmosphere. A little noisy but they were very nice about lowering the music volume.
Was looking for a seafood place in town and this is the perfect place. Food was simple but delicious. Started with oysters and then had lobster roll (delish) and mussels and clams. I would totally go back for the whole fish next time 👍🏻
The food is really well done. The main restaurant is pretty crowded and noisy. We were given the option of eating in the lobby at the bar which was just great. Much calmer and beautiful service.
Food was fresh and delicious
There was not a single positive with regard to our visit. The food was marginal at best, the service was disappointing, and the ambiance was just okay but not reflective of the price point. How this place gets such high scores is beyond me.
It’s always an amazing time. Excellent Food, the freshest seafood in town, fantastic wine list and the service is always spot on. I have a wonderful experience every time. Worth the money. Go there.
Our server was outstanding. We appreciated her attentiveness, kindness, and excellent service.
We ate dinner outside on a slow but warm night. Outside resulted in the low noise rating. Warm nights in Petaluma are becoming more common regardless of what Trump says. Good seafood.
good food, knowledgeable service, gluten free options for those with gluten intolerance
We enjoyed our dinner very much. From the oysters to the ceviche to the pork, it was all excellent. And the service was perfect, attentive but not too much.
Was first time here and the food was great and service outstanding. The only complaint was the noise level.
Amazing place, food was excellent, oysters were mouth watering, It's a perfect place for a quite night dinner in a small town...
Food was just OK. My wife ordered muscles and 3 of them weren’t even open. We brought it to the waiters attention but nothing done about it.
Very good service and food, nice wine list, oysters that were perfect.
Fresh oysters, nicely presented. Lobster roll was full of lobster! Excellent service. We will return when in the area.
Really interesting place. Wonderful flavors. Everyone in our party enjoyed their choices.
Look forward to returning. Only complaint is the noise level is very high.
My husband and I went there for a last minute date night on a Saturday night and we were really happy with the whole experience! The food was fantastic, I couldn't believe how much lobster meat came in my lobster roll...and my husband loved his oysters. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because the scallops entree only came with 3 and they were so delicious, my husband wished there had been more of them to enjoy! The wines we tried were all delicious and we also got the crab cake appetizer, which was one of the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back!
Let's start with the good. The restaurant itself was very nice. The Clam Chowder was a WINNER. The Basque Stew we ordered was a BIG WINNER. The bacon wrapped prawns were great. The Fish Taco entrée, we ordered as an appetizer, was the only let down. They were just unremarkable and I wouldn't recommend them based on past experiences of better tacos.
The other "disappointments" were the wine list and the fact that the web-site menu was not up to date, so was somewhat misleading.
If we lived nearby, which we don't, we would certainly go back.
It was our sons Birthday
The food and service was absolutely amazing!!!!!! We will definitely be back!!! Zero complaints!
Great menu, variety of seafood and some fusion Asian / American. Great wine and bubbles list as well.
My friends and I were on our way to a concert at The Mystic and dined beforehand at The Shuckery. We started with Happy Hour oysters, very fresh and yummy! Our meals included halibut, scallops, and fish tacos. Portions were just right, and very tasty! Our service was lovely, overall a great dinner!
The Shuckery did it again, amazing food, great service!
The Shuckery our performs each visit!
The food is really lovely at the Shuckery! We have never had a bad meal there. We went to happy hour for the first time and it was great. However, it is really really noisy -- the music is too loud and does not add anything. But even without the music it would be uncomfortable -- Pleas add some noise deadening baffles or banners from the ceiling. Also, it tends to smell like disinfectant cleaner when you first walk in. Kinda of gross given how fresh and tasty the fish is.
Had Father's Day dinner. First visit. Food was great and service exceptional and very helpful. The noise level was quite high. We sat in the center of the room and had a hard time hearing each other. I have seen reviews that claim "intimate and romantic" but I wouldn't use those words. It is a great place, just not for a "quiet" dinner. Wine list is decent and cleverly written. Beer selection is limited but creative. Cost was about $50 each with drinks (2 glasses of wine and 2 beers) and tip.
Oysters were good, but on the pricey side, po- boy sandwich/ shrimp sucked, dry, not enough sauce. My wife didn’t like her meal also, service was slow, overall not worth the 139 dollars not including tip, won’t come back.
