Service was very good but found it a very limited menu on Sunday for someone who didn’t eat fish or roast dinner. Roast beef dinner was delicious though a little but cold and gravy was rather watery and not much of it. The crumble was lovely though a tiny amount of custard and for £7.50 was not very good value for money. Left soon after we finished as there was a large group of young males in the marquee (obviously breaching COVID rules) and made an awful lot of noise which was very off putting.
Would be good if the menu was on the website as all it said was Sunday lunch: coming soon. Would come again but would hope to be seated in the garden next time away from other people and the noise
Brilliant place food was lovely I will 100% be going back
Great location with a covered marquee for diners and outdoor bench seating for drinkers. Porta loos available in the car park. Food was tasty but the portion size compared to the cost was way off. I would return for a drink but not for a meal.
Very welcoming and nice food. Due to current restrictions we were in the marquee which was freezing. No heaters in use for some reason!
Met our son here for lunch outside before London went into tier 3. The pub being convenient for the A12.
The food was excellent with great service and the heated marquee was a pleasant surprise.
Booked a table for 2 persons. We had to move tables initially because there was a group making a lot of noise next to us. Two other tables relocated to the other end of the pubas well.
Once we had moved they then seemed to forget our order as we had to wait over an hour for the main course. The food was very nice once it arrived which we had chosen off their Xmas menu. Finally they managed to give us the wrong bill which we rectified with the adjacent table.
We had dined before at the Ship and it was very nice, service was good but this time they seemed to be having an off day!
Excellent service, excellent food , overall perfect evening
Second visit, but 1st since COVID. Food great, good value, table service only. Bit quiet even for Friday, but good reason for it. Will definitely return.
Lovely meal
Quality food and service as always
This was the third time we had Sunday lunch there in six weeks. Every time has been excellent. Great service, delicious food and friendly staff. Love the decor and the welcome you get there. Will be back again soon I hope.
Traditional pub with better than traditional pub grub.
Read the reviews and was happy to go on a Sunday for a Sunday roast. I was disappointed the meat was satisfactory but no taste to food very bland . One carrot one parsnip teaspoon of peas. The roast potatoes were adequate. We ordered a berry crumble and it wasn’t . Frozen berries with a shaving of crumble on the top and custard was ambrosia definitely not home made.
Best roast I've had in a long time....crispy potatoes are a must along with crackling. Wine was awesome too
Excellent service provided. Great food in a lovely atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the speed at which it was served.
Amazing outdoor table with a fantastic roast!!! Best pork I have had in ages. We shall be back again soon
Busy bank holiday and last day of eat out to help out
Nice food
Very attentive waiter. Lovely food. Children loved the garden.
Very good quality food with a wide choice of menu with excellent service and nice surroundings
EOTHO gov discount made this a bargain meal. The T bone steak meal is huge, you get a very man size steak at 17 oz and very nice homemade skin on fries. Cooked to perfection, juicy tender beef definitely worth the wait. This is not just pub grub, but some serious food. There is clearly quality and pride in the cooking.
The ales were a let down as they were not in good condition possibly due to being towards the end of the barrel, but thankfully our waiter acknowledged the problem with the casks and quickly rectified the drink with an alternative.
I think as a general improvement, just keep an eye on the beers on tap that they are in top condition for drinking.
Other than that, I think this place deserves credit. Great food, ambience, lots of outdoor seating in greenery, a rather cool shipyard hipster feel to the seating. Good levels of service for a pub inn.
Staff and service amazing!!! Lovely roast with all the trimmings. The best roast potatoes I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Highly recommend
This was the first time we had been here for a meal and we were made feel welcome and very attentive service with a good choice menu and quality of fuel. We will go again. John & Marie
First visit to The Ship since changing ownership and we were very impressed. The decor was lovely, all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was delicious and well priced. We all had the seafood linguine which was fantastic. Highly recommended.
