Limited menu but focused on quality. Service pretty lackadaisical.
It’s was just ok for brunch, not a great menu but I would be curious about dinner.
Great look and feel. This was my first visit - met some friends for brunch. Food was delicious and there was plenty of it. I'll definitely be back.
We tried the Sheridan Room as a recommendation of a friend. We liked the home made and authentic menu offerings. The ambiance was nice and quiet but the food and service were nothing I'd rush back for. I ordered an omelet and the eggs were bright yellow and rubbery looking. I'm not sure if they were an egg substitute or if I accentially ordered vegan eggs, but they weren't good. We ordered the "donut holes" after eating breakfast and they were just dense biscuit dough and we were unfortunately disappointed. The service was less than impressive as well. We were one of two parties for a long time in the place and I ended up bussing our dishes for us as our table was a mess. At the end of the meal I had to walk to the counter to pay as our waiter never came back. There were three wait staff there and only one seemed to be waiting tables.
The waffles were rock hard and hard to eat. The fake chicken wasn’t worth the 40$ because the only good part was the seasoning. Wouldn’t not recommend, the quality of the food did not match the price.
Our food took more than an hour to arrive and our waitress not only didn't seem to care, but was irritated when we asked what was going on. We had theatre tickets and ended up having to get the food to go (which she was also irritated about) and then it turned out that the kitchen had gotten our order wrong. The food itself was incredibly greasy and over-salted. I don't expect a burger to be healthy, but it was almost inedible. The service here has always been inconsistent, but the food used to be better. I certainly wouldn't go back there which is too bad because we live nearby. I also think that the waitstaff needs to be trained better. Or maybe just replaced? Our waitress didn't say what her name was, but she had curly hair. This was the worst dining experience I've had in a long time.
Loved the loaded mac and cheese. We ordered the rosemary truffle fries (?) as an appetizer - super good.
We had a great pre-theater dinner and didn't feel rushed at all to get to the show.
Delicious brunch, great service. Such a great place for pre or post meal before enjoying a play at the Ritz Theater.
What a great neighborhood spot. Great food. Great atmosphere.
The three of us had a very nice dinner and got in right away as we had reservations that were easy to make on OpeTable app. This was our very late Christmas get together and we were able to converse without a lot of noise around us in our very spacious and comfortable booth. We had the chicken burgers which at first were fantastic but then got a bit salty, but it didn't ruin our visit. We would definitely recommend and visit again. We're so glad that the Sheridan Room took part in The City Tins 2020 Twin Cities Restaurant Edition as that is how we heard about them.
This was the very first time I've been to a restaurant and been aware that the recorded music was way too loud. I was literally the first customer of the night & they had the music cranked at the same volume you'd want for a packed crowd. Really annoying when there isn't a lot of voices competing with the tunes. Also, why do restaurants always give bad seats to the solo diners? I get that we're taking up valuable real estate and I try to come really early so I can get out of there before the bigger crowds arrive, but it's annoying to be seated right in front of the door (on a cold night) or in the dark corner or right beside the kitchen door. The location of the restaurant was perfect since I was seeing a show next door. And finally, they won me over with the Loaded Mac & Cheese. I'm really picky about my mac & cheese and was expecting to be disappointed. Very nice! The house wine was really good too and the waiter knew just the right things to say in order to upsell-- smart guy. Overall, it was good. I'll just remember to ask to sit away from the door next time and, I don't know--- wear earplugs.
Thank you for all the vegan options! It's great to have a solid, home-cooking/comfort food restaurant in the neighborhood that is so thoughtful of dietary choices.
Donut holes were raw. Odd but true. They were taken away with little apology or attempt to compensate. Music is louder than it needs to be. Brunch was ok, but the the Dougie Nachos were missing the fried chicken, or it was as minced. Either way after the donut experience it was worth the bother. 😥
Drinks were ordered and received in a timely manner, but when our food came my hash browns (all I ordered were eggs and hash browns) were very burned and dried- visibly- it’s surprising they were served. Then once we asked for our check it took about 15 minutes for them to come back to pick up our card and run it. This was our second time there and unfortunately we haven’t had an overwhelmingly good experience either time. Probably will not return.
Celebrating Christmas with friends.
Love this place!! Relaxed and friendly.
Took a long time for the food to arrive. Liked the portion size. Reasonable. Not too big.
Beer can chicken was over cooked and very dry with no moisture left! Extra gravy was $2.00??? It was needed!
Chicken pot pie crust was horrid! overall not the caliber of a good restaurant!
Drinks were ok and service fine!
Price was fair!
Not a good experience! We won’t be going back!
Good food, nice variety of adult beverages, hip, energetic feel.
The Sheridan is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with very fine food in a funky setting. Real food, well prepared.
We had dinner before play it took a long time to get a waitress it took even longer to get our order in. Food was tasty but expensive compared to other venues. My burger was the size of mcDonalds. I’ll pass next time.
Of the five of us, four had great food. The fifth was disappointed in the fried chicken. We had a wonderful server but didn’t catch her name because it was so loud in there. We were a little disappointed that there was no dessert other than shakes or ice cream ( but I guess you don’t have to have dessert?). We ended up going over to Erté for after dinner drinks and quiet before going to the Ritz theater. Overall, it was a good experience.
Great brunch here. Had the fried chicken sandwich on the biscuit with gravy and a fried egg - delish! The Bloody Mary is one of the best I’ve had in town. Service was perfectly good. I’ll be back!
Food was delicious. There were 8 of us and we all found something that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Coffee looked like weak tea.
Replacement was gracious and much better.
No option for gluten free substitution for bread or bun and chicken cooked in beer meant my only choices for dinner were salad and grits.
Sadly, although am a salt lover, the grits were so salty they were not edible.
Website may as well say that this is not your restaurant if you cannot eat gluten.
Staff were helpful and kind but I left hungry and frustrated.
Great place for a pre-theater dinner. We went with their specialties- chicken and the pastrami sandwich and were not disappointed.
It wasn't too busy, and was relaxing. The food is tasty and unpretentious with decent sized servings. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!
It was our first time at the Sheridan. It's a nice neighborhood cafe. We really enjoyed the special vegan week menu, which was what drew us there. The regular menu has vegan options too, so we plan to go back again.
Always love going during Vegan Week! Great way to bring forward some new options. Burger on Wednesday was a bit on the soft side, but good flavors. The VLT is awesome and I am looking forward to trying the Vegan Mac and Vegan Pastrami Sandwich that are on the every-day menu.
We went for brunch and ordered what feels like 1 of everything. I can honestly say we were happy with all of our choices. The donut holes were very yummy (not greasy at all). The pancakes were delicious and the 2 different scrambles were both equally tasty. I was also very impressed with the sausage gravy that came with the Dougie sandwich. A+
My only critique is the booths are really hard to get in and out of if you're stuck on the inside. There isn't much space to work with. Also, and you can't help this, but the wooden benches are REALLY hard, so after a half hour or so, I wanted to get up and take a lap to get the blood flow to return to my backside. Overall, we will 100% be back, most likely for brunch again.
we were here for brunch on a holiday weekend 2 or 5 of the group were vegan. The clear plus was the availability of vegan options. Food was OK, but the service was very slow: 1 hour from seating to delivery of food; space was half full.
Interesting menu but much had spice which we had modified
Very good service and good value
We used to frequent this place when it was The Modern Cafe and always had terrific service. We have been to Sheridan Room a couple of times and found it to be a bit loud, but decent food. After our last visit, we will not be back. We (two of us) were seated well before two tables around us that each had three people. We didn't order anything that would have taken additional time ot prepare yet we waited 45 minutes before we finally asked our server how much longer it would take. Meanwhile, the other tables were well into their meals. We finally had to request she make our orders to-go as we would have been late to an event.
The food was fine, which we ate the next day. The music in the place is too loud. The servers seem really disinterested, though ours was polite when she brought our bill. Will definitely not return.
This place was stumbled across... I'm elated we find it! Everything's immaculate!
Casual atmosphere (we sat outside) and menu with tasty soups, salads, and sandwiches. Great place for dinner before a show at Latte Da.
Cool little place with a chill vibe, a great selection of canned beers, and a killer menu. Great vegan selection alongside their omnivore menu.
Food was ok. Everything was overpriced and the bathrooms were gross
I was pretty pleased with my dining experience. The atmosphere wasn’t what I was expecting based on the photos I’d seen, I felt the interior was a little unfinished looking. My bf and I chose the Sheridan Room because they offer actual vegan options, and not just salads. I had the VLT which was incredibly good. I ordered a side of the vegan creamed corn, which I personally think should’ve had a disclaimer about the spicy-ness. My bf had the chicken sandwich which he described as an “8/10.” I would definitely eat here again.
We had one of the best meals we've had at the Sheridan. Can't beat their reuben and beercan chicken. I also tried a new warm salad. Highly recommended.
