The Sheridan Room
Coffee looked like weak tea.
Replacement was gracious and much better.
No option for gluten free substitution for bread or bun and chicken cooked in beer meant my only choices for dinner were salad and grits.
Sadly, although am a salt lover, the grits were so salty they were not edible.
Website may as well say that this is not your restaurant if you cannot eat gluten.
Staff were helpful and kind but I left hungry and frustrated.
Great place for a pre-theater dinner. We went with their specialties- chicken and the pastrami sandwich and were not disappointed.
It wasn't too busy, and was relaxing. The food is tasty and unpretentious with decent sized servings. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!
It was our first time at the Sheridan. It's a nice neighborhood cafe. We really enjoyed the special vegan week menu, which was what drew us there. The regular menu has vegan options too, so we plan to go back again.
Always love going during Vegan Week! Great way to bring forward some new options. Burger on Wednesday was a bit on the soft side, but good flavors. The VLT is awesome and I am looking forward to trying the Vegan Mac and Vegan Pastrami Sandwich that are on the every-day menu.
We went for brunch and ordered what feels like 1 of everything. I can honestly say we were happy with all of our choices. The donut holes were very yummy (not greasy at all). The pancakes were delicious and the 2 different scrambles were both equally tasty. I was also very impressed with the sausage gravy that came with the Dougie sandwich. A+
My only critique is the booths are really hard to get in and out of if you're stuck on the inside. There isn't much space to work with. Also, and you can't help this, but the wooden benches are REALLY hard, so after a half hour or so, I wanted to get up and take a lap to get the blood flow to return to my backside. Overall, we will 100% be back, most likely for brunch again.
we were here for brunch on a holiday weekend 2 or 5 of the group were vegan. The clear plus was the availability of vegan options. Food was OK, but the service was very slow: 1 hour from seating to delivery of food; space was half full.
Interesting menu but much had spice which we had modified
Very good service and good value
We used to frequent this place when it was The Modern Cafe and always had terrific service. We have been to Sheridan Room a couple of times and found it to be a bit loud, but decent food. After our last visit, we will not be back. We (two of us) were seated well before two tables around us that each had three people. We didn't order anything that would have taken additional time ot prepare yet we waited 45 minutes before we finally asked our server how much longer it would take. Meanwhile, the other tables were well into their meals. We finally had to request she make our orders to-go as we would have been late to an event.
The food was fine, which we ate the next day. The music in the place is too loud. The servers seem really disinterested, though ours was polite when she brought our bill. Will definitely not return.
This place was stumbled across... I'm elated we find it! Everything's immaculate!
Casual atmosphere (we sat outside) and menu with tasty soups, salads, and sandwiches. Great place for dinner before a show at Latte Da.
Cool little place with a chill vibe, a great selection of canned beers, and a killer menu. Great vegan selection alongside their omnivore menu.
Food was ok. Everything was overpriced and the bathrooms were gross
I was pretty pleased with my dining experience. The atmosphere wasn’t what I was expecting based on the photos I’d seen, I felt the interior was a little unfinished looking. My bf and I chose the Sheridan Room because they offer actual vegan options, and not just salads. I had the VLT which was incredibly good. I ordered a side of the vegan creamed corn, which I personally think should’ve had a disclaimer about the spicy-ness. My bf had the chicken sandwich which he described as an “8/10.” I would definitely eat here again.
We had one of the best meals we've had at the Sheridan. Can't beat their reuben and beercan chicken. I also tried a new warm salad. Highly recommended.
Sam our server was worth a million stars. Great attitude. Followed quickly by great food. We'll be back!
Wonderful environment, great and creative food options, fantastic drink selection and incredible staff!
Really impressed with this place. Good happy hour, the food was delish and a great selection of ways to imbibe!
Sam was simply amazing! And the food was phenomenal! Thank you!
When we arrived at the Sheridan Room, I was very pleased with the ambiance. I liked the music playing and not knowing anything, I heard the whir of the milkshake blender. That's where the joy ended.
No one greeted us, rather just a shout to sit where ever we wanted. Normally, I would have no issue with this, but we were 3 of 6 people in the entirety of the restaurant. The shout felt rude and brash.
We sat down and were actually greeted nicely by a waitress. This was the first and last time we spoke with her. She grabbed us water and that was our only interaction. The bartender came out from behind the bar and ended up being our server.
My sister-in-law wanted to order the reuben with just different bread than rye. The bartender told her that was impossible and did not offer a solution. My sister-in-law then ordered the club which came on white. Had the bartender allowed her to have the reuben on the same bread as the club she would have been happier. I ordered the Cry Baby Chicken Sandwich, but received the standard sandwich. I didn't mind this as I enjoyed my first bite, but this plays into the lack of service.
I make a point to say thank you for our service whether it is good or bad. It seemed that every time I thanked the server/bartender he would brush it off. His attitude made it seem like he had no desire to either help us or be present in the restaurant.
While the food was good, I will definitely not be going back. Often called the service industry, The Sheridan Room offered some of the worst I have seen in a long time. Very disappointing, but my hat is off to the chefs because the food was good. The food just couldn't make up for poor service.
I will definitely be back. The vegan pastrami sandwich is incredible! The server was the best combination of funny and attentive. I really appreciate the record player!
We were here for brunch with friends and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The food was great, the drinks were great and the service was fabulous. Sam was a great server and really made our experience memorable.
This is a wonderful place with great food, expansive drink choices, large tables, and not too loud. The servers were very fun and personable with a sense of humor. It made our pre-show at Theater Latte Da very enjoyable while waiting for the show.
Great place for vegan and vegetarian food. My friend had a chicken sandwich and said it was fine. The pumpkin and chick peas and roasted cauliflower was excellent. Very fun unusual dishes.
Our waiter Sam was THE best! Saucy and sassy, but enough about Sam, the food was a party in my mouth! We’ll definitely be back!
The food was OK as was the service. The Sheridan Room obviously is geared towards the millenials. Very loud background music with a tin ceiling and ceramic tile walls makes it way too noisy for this babyboomer. It was telling that when a softer rock/folk song was playing the crowd noise got noticeably quieter--when the boom-boom song came on the "people trying to talk over the music" noise level went way up. From my perspective, people come to a restaurant to: 1) eat good food; 2) socialize with friends mostly by talking to them; and, 3) carry on a conversation. The background music should be at such a level that it doesn't interfere with any of these goals. The music at this restaurant was too loud to enjoy the food or carry on a decent conversation, at least for this person.
We had a large group of 10 adults, 3 infants, 2 toddlers, and a kindergartener for Saturday brunch. I made a reservation a week in advance and they had no problem accommodating us. The service was great, food was wonderful, and the total bill, with drinks and 12 plates was extremely reasonable. They were able to evenly split the check 5 ways without issue. I will definitely return.
Service was awesome !! We enjoyed our food, and had a good time.
I ordered a hamburger and a beer and my husband ordered the pastrami and a coke. The bill was more than $40 which seems very high even thought the sandwiches were fine. There is no ambiance.
Perfect place to eat before going to the Ritz Theater. Food was very tasty. Not a lot of options, but the basics to please almost everyone. Loved the ambiance. Private yet festive. Great bar!!!
I am really excited to write this review. I don’t live in MN anymore (just visiting), but if I did live here The Sheridan Room would be a regular place for me. The service was outstanding!! Every interaction with every employee was genuine and fun. Super laid back and friendly. They have extensive drink options outside of wine. A few good options, but not a ton. The music is great, super fun to have vinyl playing and to see all the records on display. The food was really good as well. They have great meat options and excellent vegan/vegetarian options as well. They do BOTH well, neither is a “menu afterthought”. Bathrooms are downstairs, so be aware of that if injured or if accessibly is an issue for you. I will RAVE about the staff and service to anyone. Great spot! (And parking was good on a snowy Saturday night, much better than downtown).
The hostess was lovely, our waitress pretty unfriendly and inattentive.
Bar was loud. Food was casual but fun.
Had a Galentine’s brunch at The Sheridan Room. Reserved a space for ten people, which was perfect. Had a nice table in the back of the restaurant. The space is intimate and low-key. Everyone loved the food and cocktails. I thought the portion sizes were ideal as well. It was my first time trying this NE spot, and I will definitely be back.
It is sort of a bar with really good food and engaged wait people. They play vinyl through an Audio Research amp. The music is loud, but still easy to converse. Quirky, casual, hip and fun--with really good food. Prices are reasonable.
If you're looking for a more intimate/quiet area of the restaurant don't sit at one of the tables in the bar. There is something about the wooden walls that make other people's voices project. Otherwise this place is great!
Wanted to let you know about my experience at Brunch this morning. I had a reservation at 11 for 10 of us for my birthday. The table was all ready and waiting for us which was great. I’m very much appreciative of you accommodating my family. However, the rest of our experience was not so great. It took over 20 minutes to get coffees (just drip), and juices. We were offered a small carafe of coffee for refills and that was never refilled or checked upon again. It was very difficult to get our servers attention as she never came to check on us. Our food was delivered cold and in two instances the ham on the Nordeast Cristo still had ice crystals in it. Because our server wasn’t to be found and that we had already been at the restaurant for more than an hour we just let it be. We were never offered water refills or asked what we thought of the food. We spent a lot of money at The Sheridan Room today and were very disappointed.
Good menu. Creative, good quality and quantity.
Birthday celebration. No offer of dessert to share.
Is great place to eat when going to the Ritz theatre next door.
Food was good but our server was just soooo slooooow. Was just our individual server, as people that came in 20 minutes after us had their bill paid and were leaving as we got our food. One suggestion. There is nothing in the place to absorb noise. If you have a loud group in the room ... they might as well be at your table... shouting at you! Please put in something to deaden the noise!
The service was lacking. Total attitude problem. And please use your tip money to buy a new shirt that covers your stomach. If I were at a nightclub I would expect it. Not at a restaurant.
Food is always good. Bathroom is gross...so hold it until you get to a gas station...probably cleaner.
