The pub is in a beautiful setting with a fantastic garden. The restaurant is very nice with well spaced out tables. The service was excellent and the Sunday lunch was great. I would definitely recommend.
Great food, really lovely friendly staff, will certainly be going back for another amazing Roast!!!!
Beautiful pub with exceptional food and the service is excellent.
Great views. Little stream running through. A welcome escape from the madness and noise. The staff were very friendly. Much recommended.
Love the pies, they are always outstanding, cabbage and jus also excellent.
Delicious food, and friendly staff, but unfortunately I asked for a glass of gris Blanc rose wine, which I had previously really enjoyed at this venue. After at least 10 minutes I was given a white wine and on rejecting that a further 10 minutes elapsed. I was then given a glass of red wine. Thus was taken away and when another staff member approached I explained the situation and by then had finished my meal - with no wine! This is reflected on my scores
Friendly welcome. Beautiful setting. The food was fine but not particularly hot.
My favourite pub in the whole of Sussex. Beautiful hot day. Arrived for 4pm slot. Order taken 4.10pm. They forgot the order. Eventually arrived 5.15pm. Food not as good as it used to be. Will go again. Hopefully will have returned to their normal high standards.
It was great and an abolsutely gorgeous setting.
I had a burger -which was delicous!!! BUT lacked anything else on the plate bar a huge mound of chips.... no salad, or anything extra creative one might imagine for £17?
AND.. although perhaps roasts just arent my thing - and apparently tasted delicious which is all that matters the meat looked a little like a carvery option, and not 'pink' as described on the menu.
Beer was great too....
We arrived to find all dining was outside.which was difficult because my 97 years old mum had steps to negotiate. If we had been prior notified of this we wouldn't have kept our booking. The staff were brilliant could not have been more helpful.Unfortunatley our experience was spoilt by the food. The fish and chips were over cooked batter dark brown and hard ditto the chips and absolutely tasteless. Beef and lamb advertised as pink but came well done. Obviously it was very busy but that is no excuse for bad food especially at the prices being charged. Very disappointing as it was a rare chance to get together as a family.
Such a nice setting, all staff are really friendly and on such a hot day to be brought water without even asking was really thoughtful, the food was amazing.
Lovely pub! Super garden. Delicious food. Friendly staff.
Awesome menu and even better beers and nice friendly staff
Such a stunning location. The garden is idyllic, staff lovely and food outstanding. Well worth a trip. Highly recommended and will definitely return. A really special place!
OK overall, but they seved the worst hummus I have ever tasted, basically roughly crushed chickpeas with no flavour whatsover and the the texture of sand. Also the Ploughman´s Lunch came with three, half slices of dry bread and, when I asked for more bread, they charged ~$4 for one more slice of bread. It was itemised as "bread selection" which sounds far more appetizing than the actual sad offering. Pity because it´s a lovely spot
A beautiful location , and friendly staff . Our food was good but the lack of a children’s burger meant each child had to have an adult one . This was expensive and too large a portion for a 5 and 9 year old .
I enjoyed my meal very much. But a friend and my son thought that the burgers were rather small.
Tasty, well priced food, excellent garden space and service. Rather full of kids and dogs but then it was a saturday.
We had a lovely relaxed evening... music playing added to the chilled out feeling. Gorgeous setting at the foot of the South Downs. Food was yummy and our waitress was really friendly!
Beautiful place, friendly, prompt service, good food. nearly went to the Royal Oak, but this was much nicer.
Love this special pub. Perfect setting with a stream to dip your feet in.
Super service super food cannot wait to return for a tasty Sunday roast
Very good roast, especially the sides. The lamp could have been a bit better/pinker. All in all very good and would recommend to others.
Amazing service and beautiful roast! Love it. Can’t wait to to get back there soon
We had a lovely relaxed evening ..6 of us …fantastic food, wine and beer …everyone had a great time and we will definitely be back
Really good food. Excellent customer service. Lovely location.
Lovely place, great food and nice staff. Picturesque location. Recommend ! Will defo go there again
Enjoyed a lovely meal. Staff were really helpful and courteous.
We would have liked to have had our meal in the garden away from the road but it wasn’t available… didn’t spoil our experience though and we will return. Thank you
What lovely staff! Felt looked after right from the moment we entered. They looked after my partners dietary needs perfectly, helping us to share a starter. My pie (pork and cider) was absolutely delicious and the roasted garlic mash was probably the best I've ever eaten in a pub/restaurant. My partners gluten free fish and chips was also fantastic. We were very happy with our whole experience. It's a lovely pub in a great position. Next time we visit we'd love to sit in the garden.
The food is excellent but when we went the service was not great. This was mainly because we had to wait too long to have our order taken, but once the order was in the food came reasonably quickly and was of good quality.
Amazing food, great service. We had a roast which said it came with roasted beetroot but neither of us had it, maybe if something has run out an alternative could be offered!
Also I had two large glasses of the same wine, one was £8.25 on the bill the other was £12.25, this seems a lot for a glass of wine when most pubs would sell a whole bottle for that.
We will definitely be back but maybe won’t have the wine
Best roast we've had in a long time and on noticing I am heavily pregnant, managed to move us to a more roomy table. Great meal and we shall be back!
Loved the food, best roast we had!
Fantastic Sunday roast! Very impressed! Will certainly be back!
We had Sunday lunch, Lamb and Beef we're great, quality well cooked meat. Lots of nice fresh vegetables and good size portions.
A real treat, great location, food and service was much better than expected, will definitely return
Food was good, very overpriced and the service wasn’t great at all. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly just very sarcastic and came across rude. It ruined the experience.
Food was nice, table was sticky but I guess it’s an old type of varnished wood. Chair was not comfortable (indoor dining)
My new favourite pub!
Great location, great food and lovely people.
Superb menu and quality of food.
Lovely friendly staff.
Will be coming back!
