Lovely garden in lee of Downs . Food good pub grub and lovely local beet. Service could be better as got order wrong and other items and drinks had to be requested twice - waiters need to concentrate more! having said that as a good will gesture we got one free meal for them getting our order wrong so they made up for it
Thought that £12.50 for a glass of wine was very steep! Surprised we weren’t told and that a bottle may have been a better value option?
Brilliant service socially distanced outside dining- staff were super friendly and working hard
Food was great pub grub and beers went down a treat .
This was our first visit and we thought the garden area was lovely. Plenty of seating and Parasols. A lovely peaceful area. Due to our ages we are not lovers of table and bench seats a few tables with normal chairs with backs would be appreciated.
I know we will come again and possibly bring a cushion.
The staff were excellent and friendly and my husband enjoyed his desert plate with a Happy Birthday message written in chocolate - a nice one.
We look forward to visiting again when when all systems go inside and outside.
The pork and silly moo pie was excellent.
Everything was amazing. Will definitely be coming back
Great Sunday roast in an amazing setting. Would highly recommend
Our Sunday roast was delicious! Will definitely be going back again.
Very nicely cooked roast. Meat succulent and seasoned well. Very good section of veg. Cooked excellently. Lovely garden tables, ours overlooked the play area which was great as we could see our son on playing and this kept him entertained while we waited for our food to arrive.
Great food and lovely garden! Service was fantastic even with being busy
Great garden meal for a great pub. We were there for the Sunday roast. The servers were super helpful and well informed. Would eat there again.
Lovely roast lunch. Lovely setting. Staff all very friendly.
Such a special setting at the foot of the downs, idyllic stream, tucked away in Fulking - my new favourite pub
Lovely pub, well looked after, the most beautiful setting at the foot of the South Downs. Our first family trip back.
The garden looked tired and not much appeared to have been done to clean it up which seemed a shame as it’s such a beautiful location. The choice of stout, traditional ales was zero, craft lagers only. A real shame. The food was good
Stunning setting, great food and nice selection of beers, quick service despite being busy and friendly staff - can’t fault a single thing.
Amazing beer garden and a great selection of food and drink! Ticks all the boxes for an English country pub.
The staff were great and I like the location but both meals were sadly disappointing
We came to sit outside for lunch and it was perfect. There’s plenty of space and the setting is very beautiful. Definitely will be coming back again.
Very good service. As outside dining only, the seating is not comfortable as tables and seats are very low. My lamb was very fatty & covered in some sauce/gravy. When I had the same dish approxmately 2 weeks ago it did not have this gravy and was very nice. Our guests fish & chips was very good.
Great flavours, amazing scenery and outstanding hospitality!
Lovely setting and managing Covid restrictions very well. Good food and friendly and attentive service.
We had a lovely meal at the Shepherd and Dog. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the menu offered a really good range of choice, for both food and beer. A really relaxed, beautiful setting in the downs.
Great food & service! Also good covid precautions taken, all staff were wearing masks - highly recommend.
Really lovely place to eat and drink. Good service, great food and a decent pint of bitter.
A real treat. Great food. Great Setting. Friendly staff. Loved it.
Didn’t actually eat at the restaurant yesterday as we had booked a table for drinks only.
The umbrellas in the garden were very small and the seats were soaking wet after a downpour.
We had 2 drinks each . The service was very slow . When we eventually got someone over to take our money they started asking how much of a tip we would like to leave.
I always leave a tip but object strongly when asked to leave one . We are not living in the USA
Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious food and great drink selection. Such a beautiful, peaceful setting. Highly recommend this pub
Good food still in difficult circumstances. Garden area fine if weather is OK, but benches uncomfortable. Staff good and efficient.
Friendly staff who like dogs which helps. Lovely environment, garden etc. Bit cold they could do with some blankets on offer for the older clientele. My other suggestion would be some tables with chairs rather than benches for the older folk. I would also recommend heaters in the garden.
Food was great and service was very attentive. Table was positioned well with space for 4 dogs.
I had lunch in the garden with 3 friends, the garden and views are beautiful. I had the ploughmans lunch which at £12 I thought was poor value. The bread seemed a little stale and the cheese had not been brought up to room temperature and there wasn't much of it.... the pickles were lovely.
Sadly I think this is more style over substance and I found it disappointing as I had high expectations.
Staff were lovely and helpful. Took my elderly mother and unfortunately garden tables mostly up lots of steps but the friendly man welcoming customers sorted us out with a suitable spot and worked out very well. Lovely location overall with the garden of the pub tucked into the Downs. Many thanks.
Rather expensive and rude staff, lots of dogs and children,
We came for dinner with our friends on Sunday. Unfortunately my pork was dry and crackling was invisible. My apple tart came with vanilla ice cream where on the menu stated honeycomb, and our second lot of drinks never arrived although still remained on the receipt. I would not certainly not pay £17 per roast again.
Everything awesome. Maybe more variety of beers.
Great place been many times, good to see they survived and open again.
Excellent roasts. Lovley garden
Honestly so lovely and a tasty roast. Lovely area for a walk and very scenic in the garden area.
Nice outdoor garden area to meet your friends with kids
Lovely setting. Service was super friendly. A little slow but we really didn’t mind as the sun was shining!
As covid style meals go,this was wonderful
Felt safe as all restrictions addhered to
Will go again, especially if covid is over
