The food was very disappointing. We had the Korean chicken in a bun. The sauce was over powering and too rich and you don’t expect frozen chips when the food coat £18. Maybe we were just unlucky and ordered the wrong thing

This is a wonderful old pub tucked down a long winding lane in the lee of the South Downs. It has beams and fireplaces, all that you would expect and hope for. The car park is small so you have to park along a narrow lane which might daunt some. The menu is very simple and not extensive. The staff were friendly but service was very slow - one hour between us arriving and receiving our food. My chicken Kyiv was very tasty and as was my wife’s chicken pie. The pub only has small windows on one side which means on a cool day when the fires aren’t lit, as they weren’t, the pub is cold, and we were cold so we sat in our jackets, as did several others. There is much to commend this pub but on a warmer day with faster service and a better menu it would be a more appealing prospect.

Food was decent as always but the veggie wellington roast was sold out and after paying at the bar, I had a call asking why I had not paid for our lunch. I explained that I had and they accepted that but not sure how they had missed my payment. So a couple of slightly disappointing factors this time. Hopefully next time will be better.

Always great outside area, But the fence needs fixing, the food was good but not hot enough. Also loved the fact they give you a jug of gravy with the roast

I had to chase up my drinks three times. The food was mediocre, at best. For a country pub, you'd expect some good produce cooked well, but it was really underwhelming. And when I went to the bar to pay (no bill was presented to us), they tried to overcharge me by £25. When I asked how two burgers and two drinks (one half) could possibly come to £65, they had to go and find a manager so I had to wait even longer for this to be resolved. Clearly the staff need more training and more attention needs to be paid to the quality of the food.

Lovely experience here on Sunday 1st June for my mums birthday. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, served quickly & good size portions. The staff were all very friendly & polite & attentive. We couldn’t fault it. Thank you. We’ll definitely be back.

I’m not clear whether the pub is a pub or a restaurant - very confusing atmosphere. The vegan sharing plate very varied in types of flavour; Korean tofu with olives and Mediterranean cold roasted vegetables and Italian focaccia and pickled onions and gerkins - all flavours clashing. The staff were lovely.
