The SHED at Glenwood Ratings and Reviews
We went for brunch on Sunday. The place was completely empty. The host sat us at a 2 top table, but when we asked for a 4 top - we got attitude. He said, "If that's what you need." There's no one here! Lol I got the good morning sunshine or starshine breakfast. The potatoes were not good; it's like they were made when they opened & sat there until someone ordered them. The eggs and bacon were ok & the biscuit was dense but I ate it cause I was hungry lol And the guys in the kitchen were so bored they were damn near taking a nap on their station. Not a good look.
Came for brunch... The food was overall good but a bit skimpy. The service was also lacking - we got seated fast but were slow to have anyone bring water or ask if we wanted drinks, etc. Grits are so cheap and I only got a shmear on my plate (got the shrimp and grits). When I asked for more grits, I was charged $5 for a bowl and we were finished eating before they came out. I told the server I'd already finished my meal so I didn't need the grits anymore, and she reluctantly got the manager to take them off of the bill. Wished the experience had been better but not sure if we will try it again.
We visited this restaurant for Father's day. It was quite loud, crowded and waiter looked stressed and overloaded. My husband stated they did not give him enough grits even though the dish was shrimp and grits. My daughter was not happy to receive only one French toast. I was satisfied with my brisket dish but not having to summon the waiter for a refill on coffee.
Ate at the Shed this past Saturday. The restaurant was pretty empty. We had a great bottle of Rose which was on special for $20, good value. The fried okra appetizer was delicious but the meal went downhill from here. We ordered the kale Caesar salad which was just okay. I had the scallops and my husband had the redfish. The scallops were a little salty and the portion was really small. My husbands fish was also just okay. Service was good. Probably won't be coming back here.
I always have a great experience at The Shed. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about their food and drinks. We have attended several of their wine classes and they have become a tradition. This particular visit was to partake in the Scoutmob deal of a kale salad, 2 cocktails, 2 burgers, and their homemade ding-dong. OMG, it was a tasty and indulgent line-up. They barrel age their own bourbon and tequila--a must try. The burgers are juicy and pair well with the bacon jam. The ding-dong is not your store-bought bore, but a decadently rich chocolate. You won't go wrong with The Shed.
Our server, Rick, was very pleasant and always around when we needed him.
Our timing was bad as unfortunately a delivery hadn't made it and two appealing entrees weren't available.
We asked about the gazpacho and heard there were 3-4 pieces of shrimp in it. We ordered and were so pleased to find 4 large shrimp in our soup. Unfortunately the soup was a bit too spicy and vinegary/tart, so we quickly tired of it after the initial interesting bites.
The beet salad was very nice!
The food was very good - I had salmon (cooked just the way I like it) over polenta with cherry tomatos. What was nice, everyone was so personable - our waiter, Chris, made my cousins feel so welcome. It was my cousin's birthday and it felt like we were being entertained by an old friend. They recently moved from San Francisco & said The Shed would definitely be on their list to come again.
The food was okay---heavy dressing on the kale salad but it tasted fresh. We ordered the carrot cake for dessert which took 30 minutes to arrive. After much apologizing, and exposing that the kitchen had lost the carrot cake (?!!), the server took the charge off the bill but did deliver the cake. I gave a low mark for overall service but our server was very good.
