We were disappointed that there were limited duck selections on the menu. They were also out of chicken wings during our visit. But, more concerning, was that our waitress had her mask pulled down while taking our order.
Sue, you came in at the tail end of a busy Father's Day weekend; sorry that we sold out of wings. We are building our menu out while trying to manage rising costs after being closed for regular service for three months. Instead of leaving a review with your concern of a waitress pulling her mask down to breathe, wouldn't it have been more prudent to express your concern to a manager in order to have the action corrected? Restaurants are doing the best we can, given the circumstances.
Our Father’s Day dinner was great. Service was excellent
In one word FABULOUS- in two words UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. This was our and our friends first time here but we will definitely be back. For years we have been driving to Richmond for after church brunch We may not have eaten in every restaurant in Richmond, but I bet we hit most. The Shaved Duck puts them all to shame. The drinks were spot on - we had margaritas, “Wake me up before you go-go”, Mimosas and scotch/whiskey. With our drinks we had the bread plate, all freshly made, homemade and delicious. The chocolate “donuts” were amazing.For our meals we had duck hash that was moist and perfect, Nashville hot chicken (may have been Memphis) that was spicy, crispy and delicious (recommend maple syrup with it, and a custom omelette that was perfect. We all agreed the food was 5 star. The service was quick, on time, courteous and seamless. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable in their craft and made this a totally enjoyable dining experience. Can’t wait to try dinner and other meals. I often hesitate to recommend restaurants to others, but I recommend the Shaved Duck to everyone. Our new favorite place.
We love this restaurant! They really do a great job and it's still not overrun on brunch days, although it will be one day soon. That's what happens when word gets out that you treat people well and have great food and drinks. Try it, you'll not be disappointed!

Every entree is so spicy ... not my favorite. Nothing tasted terrible but nothing to go back and try again
Ace, I'm amazed that you were able to try all of our entree's this past Saturday. This issue wasn't brought to your server's attention, otherwise we would have fixed the issue and found something more suitable for your taste. We have plenty of options on the menu that aren't spicy and we are always happy to accommodate, if given the opportunity.
Amazing! Server was grwat
Wanted to special order something and was told I couldn’t because it’s pre-made. So changed my order and it wasn’t very good. Definitely not impressed with the food

To clarify, we assemble two of our sandwiches daily but in advance, so as to expedite the speed of service. Each is comprised of 6-8 house made elements, and to make every sandwich to order would increase the wait time. Great food and great staff
The menu rotates but a few items that are incredible are the mussels and the Chesapeake Crab Soup. VERY good. The wait staff was conscientious on safety and informed us of the menu in a kind way. Highly recommend.

Great staff. Great food. Dedicated to service and creatively working together to survive and thrive in these days of COVID. This was our family's first time trying out The Shaved Duck and we will absolutely be back. The drinks were creative and well priced. The food was a absolutely delicious...especially the duck burger with pimento cheese and duck fat fries. My husband had the rockfish special, really well executed, clearly talented kitchen. Really like the limited menu.
The Shaved Duck never disappoints. One of our favorite restaurants, whether it be for a casual brunch or a nice date night - it’s always wonderful. The staff is as incredible as the food (and the cocktails). Highly recommend to anyone who loves good food!!!!

This place has been our getaway place to eat for a while and we sure missed it. We did order carry out a few times, this said it was so nice to be able to sit down and eat. The food was excellent and of course the old fashioned....fabulous.

The food is outstanding and they have a great cocktail menu.
The Midlothian drink created by Craig is delicious. Food always wonderful our waitress was very attentive yet unobtrusive. Fabulous evening.
Food was excellent, we were 8 and we tried several of the brunch specials, duck was amazing so the chef's crepes. The service was absolutely great, we really recommend it.

Have been there 3 or 4 times on different occasions and the food is always tastes fresh and is presented nicely. Hidden gem in the area. Favorite restaurant around here, no doubt.
Really excellent food and broad selection without being overwhelming. Good starters and small plates. Upscale menu, yet everything is recognizable and understandable. Great service and attention. Convenient because it's between Brandermill and Short Pump if you want to meet friends from either place, and it's right off 288. Perfect for before or after a movie in Weschester Mall.
I liked that I could make my reservation online.
The food was excellent. For those who are a little less experimental, the burger was fantastic. The duck breast was delicious as well. Nice presentation and excellent food quality.

Service was great and friendly but everything we ordered was cold - from soup to entrees. Way over priced for the quality of food. Ran into friends the night we were there and they had the same experience
Marydith, Besides the service quality, this is very disappointing. We were unaware of issues with food temps or overall lack of satisfaction with your meal(s) Friday night. Our manager remembers your kids fondly (great manners), but didn't recall any negative feedback when clearing plates & dropping dessert. Please know we will always rectify our mistakes, if given the opportunity. Cold food is unacceptable & beneath our standards. We apologize we disappointed and thank you for your insights

Our server Ryan was spot on with his take on the meals we were in question over and the flavors we were questioned about. The meal was absolutely amazing and well worth the visit! By the way if you get an “Old Fashion” get it smoked!

This was our first visit and we really enjoyed it. The food and wine were great; however, their wine prices are a little on the high side. Luckily it was a Wednesday night and the wine was half price. Will definitely go back on a Wednesday night.

I brought my son and his family there for a birthday brunch. My daughter-in-law and I had the duck hash, my grandson had the duck waffle, my son had the duck burger and my granddaughter had the she crab soup. They are all foodies and we all "loved" every thing we ordered. The service was great! Will definitely go back! My one suggestion is to get a little jazz or acoustic duo to compete with the "other" brunch places near by. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience. The menu was quite interesting and we truly appreciated the chef customizing the side dish to suit my wife’s taste . We had a wonderful waitress. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back again .

I’ve been here a few times now and enjoyed each one whether with family or friends. It’s a great atmosphere, so pleasant and comfortable. The food is excellent. Fried green tomatoes are delicious as is the airline chicken and burgers. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to everyone .

As always, food and service were outstanding. Cocktail list is also great. But NO NO - they're discontinuing the oyster biscuit appetizer! This was one of our favorites. We haven't had it's replacement yet, and it could be equally wonderful, but we hope the biscuit has only a short "vacation."

Tried for a second time after a just ok experience the first
Food was amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable, but he was busy with multiple tables coming in at the same time. Wine options and choices were fabulous- they know what they are picking. There was a menu shortage which was odd considering it wasn’t completely full- but it could have been due to everyone arriving at once. We will certainly be back- the food and drink are phenomenal and creative!

Dad's birthday dinner was wonderful for our out of town family. Our California winemaker son & Richmond daughter really enjoyed the food & ambience. We were pleased to be able to show off our Midlothian cuisine.

Exceptional experience! I had been there before but as menu varies periodically, there were so many interesting choices, we had trouble deciding. All the food was outstanding but I must say, the bed of mixed veggies served with the salmon was the absolute best I’ve ever tasted, and the salmon itself honestly reminded me of a juicy steak! Our waiter was terrific and he knew every menu item and drink so thoroughly that we ended up ordering more than we could possibly eat because he made everything sound so good. Can’t wait to go back.
