    We had vegetarian plates between us and they were lovely!! Service was great, fast and friendly. Restaurant is lovely inside with fairy lights and the cloud ceiling.

    We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a lovely meal. We both had the Chef's Selection, one meal/fish and one vegetarian. Everything was delicious and the service excellent from start to finish. Highly recommend!

    I was really looking forward to treating a fiend to brunch at the Selkie having eaten there before However a bit gutted that our lovely poached eggs were on 1 small piece of toast each ( I have given the cafe feedback about this ) Still think the Selkie is lovely but am unlikely to return for brunch as there are other places that seem to be similar food but with more toast !

    We booked The Selkie for a pre-theatre meal. The show was cancelled and staff at The Selkie were very accommodating with our request for a slightly later table. Servers were attentive and friendly. The decor and ambience were spot on. Food was tasty. Best dishes were chicken and chorizo stew and meatballs in tomato sauce. Will definitely return.

    The food was lovely but a bit over priced. £7.50 for 5 small prawns was definitely too much! However we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had and the staff you not have been more helpful and pleasant.

    We were given a voucher as a birthday present and although we could not fault the quality of the food the rather slightly embarrassing way the staff handled how we got the what was actually the receipt of payment not a voucher ( it did say gift card on the receipt) we even had to call our friend who gave us the voucher who then got embarrassed for us having to go through the nightmare of whether it would be accepted or not , the issue appeared to be the voucher was bought by cash in the restaurant and they could not find a record , if you have the time and date on the receipt I would have though that was rather easy. All ended well as the manageress agreed the would sort out later. Would I go back yes but buyer beware if you haveca voucher/receipt maybe bring to staff attention at the outset.

    Hi I'm glad you enjoyed your meal. Unless the gift card is presented then we can not accept it as payment. Unfortunately you were given a receipt with no gift. As you said that the voucher was purchased with cash then there is not even a digital record of the voucher and we can not reclaim the funds on it. I do feel that this review is quite harsh given that Meghan gave you the benefit of the doubt, and the voucher is still out there.

    This is a lovely wee restaurant. The staff are friendly and professional and go the extra mile. The food is very good. We had the Tapas, the portion sizes are just right. The prawns and the chorizo and black pudding were my favourites. Would highly recommend.

    Unbelievable! Booked last minute during trip to Dundee and so glad I did. The service and food were incredible. Meghan was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations. Stand out was the steak & salsa verde, and the chorizo stew - tasted like Spain! The cheesecake and white chocolate tarts to finish with were delicious too. Highly recommend and will be back!

    1st time we've been but not the last. The service was friendly, speedy but not rushed. Cosy and comfy inside. The food was amazing, not a crumb left. Fabulous place to eat. Highly recommended x

    Service was great. Staff were so lovely and helpful! Food was amazing. Potatos took a while to get out of kitchen, waiting nearly an hour for them. Only downside to a amazing night.

    The food and cocktails were delicious, but the service was lacking, we had to ask multiple times for things, and weren’t offered additional drinks with our meal, and were left waiting for 20 minutes to pay by card after we got the bill.

    First visit to the Selkie and definitely won't be the last. The menu selection was fantastic and we ordered 8 dishes along with bread, oil and olives. If I had to choose a favourite dish it would be the black pudding and chorizo or the spicy meatballs. The service was fantastic and the staff were very attentive. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

    Ambience wrecked during our visit due to adjacent two bad actors who found fault with everything. Hope Selkie staff has images of the aforementioned to help prevent future wastage of their valuable resources on the wholly unpleasable. We'll all be back though! Everything but those two curmudgeon customers was fantastic.

    We had an amazing dinner at The Selkie! My husband, son, and I were in town for a concert at Slessor Gardens (right nearby), and this was the best way to start the evening. Everything we ordered was delicious - the best vegetarian meatballs, awesome chicken skewers, and an incredible cheesecake just to name a few. Eat at The Selkie, you won’t be sorry!!
