The Sea Grill Ratings and Reviews
The view is one of the best, and most iconic, in New York, but the food is just as worthy of the visit. The service was, once again, flawless, friendly, helpful, and efficient, and the prix-fixe menu was not only superb, but an excellent value. Overall, it was one more exceptional special occasion dinner at the Sea Grill.
We spent a lovely evening enjoying outstanding food and watching the skating a Rockefeller Center. The dinner was outstanding, with fresh ingredients carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The happy birthday dessert was special. And the service was attentive but not intrusive.
As an avid diner I have to say this was the blandest unappealing food I've ever had and for that price. I was very shocked that no one had warned me... it ruined my dates's mood for the evening. We both did not enjoy our meal (cod and red snapper). I will say the waiter did try to give me something else (crab cakes that were OK at best) to make up for it so that was good but I found the food, appetizer (chowder) and entree underwhelming.
Overall this was a disappointing meal and far from the food and service I remember from a couple of years ago. Specifically, both of us felt the fish was dried out and over-cooked, catching the waiter's attention was difficult despite the fact the restaurant was not very crowded. I will say he was very agreeable each time we spoke with him but he should not have needed reminders to bring things to the table.
Start to finish, you'll find a well oiled machine in the heart of rock center here. Excellent fresh seafood, classic preparations and fun inventive dishes also. Superb service and ambiance, overall a big win, will definitely return !
As this was one of very few restaurants having an open table a few days before we needed the reservation, we decided to give it a try. The food was fantastic. The service was very good, and the price reasonable for the location. My only complaint, which I realize is somewhat out of the control of the restaurant, is that we were seated next to a table of four women that were very loud, and the music was quite loud as well.
Pleasantly surprised. We went here for a semi-celebration (which the restaurant did not acknowledge), and were pleased with the attention and detail that was put into the meal. Since this is a well-known restaurant that attracts tourists, it was very nice to witness the details of the meal.
We surprised my wife’s best friend for her birthday. My wife and I did not tell them we were in town and surprised her and her husband with dinner. The staff was very nice and helped us surprise them. The food was great and they decorated her dessert for her birthday. Great place!
It all started with the attentiveness of our waiter and the wait staff. We knew we were eating at a first class restaurant, but they went above and beyond to make the dining experience special. It was restaurant week so we did take advantage of the pre fixe offerings and were not disappointed. The Cod entree was cooked to perfection and flaked apart with precision. The desserts were flawless, with one of us getting the Key lime pie and the other the strawberry shortcake sundae. The imagination and creativity that went into making that outstanding dessert was evident in every detail down to the shortcake croutons.
I would highly recommend The Sea Grill and plan on returning in the winter months to indulge in the incredible view of the ice rink.
Me and my friend went to this restaurant for last day of NY restaurant week. Half of the special menu had additional charge on items, which would add up cost of the meal by $10-15. We didnt like that much our server- she wasn't smiling, she wasn't enthusiastic, she was talking like reading from a board. And she brought to me not a dish I asked, however I didnt make a big deal out of it and accepted, but if server doesnt need to assure me that i ordered what she brought. Everything tasted good though, except the bread that was brought to us prior to appetizer- baguette was very dry and cold.
This was a business lunch at peak time 12:15. The waitress was very friendly and the food tasty. We set outside very nice vibe. However the service was very slow. Understanding that it was very busy, however management should have planned accordingly. Took very long for the main course and Just as long to get the check. Still would recommend
