Family trip to NYC
Excelent food and service. We sat near the window and that was very nice because we coud see the view.
Final family lunch at Sea Grill before it closes. We have enjoyed both winter and summer lunches for decades. Many happy memories. Best wishes to staff.
Only hooked this so daughter could ice skate. Restaurant lacked ambience & atmosphere. Tourist rip off
Average food at ridiculous high prices. So many GREAT restaurants in NYC & this is not one
This was intended as our last hurrah at the Sea Grill, where we have been dining for decades. It was especially festive at Christmas, though the prices are jacked up at this time. We began with the always outstanding sea food chowder, and crab cakes, which were a little drier than usual but tasty. For mains we ordered crab cakes, scallops with truffle mash (delicious and a favourite) and dover sole. The latter was rather skimpy on the brown butter, but tender, and the rough potato mash beneath was good. Desert was the famous key lime pie, always good, but a little too much cream on top for my taste, and blueberry tart which was excellent. As usual the service was friendly and unhurried , although cocktails arrived after the food, which they were too sweet to go with (we saved them for desert). Very sad that this restaurant is now closed!
Each course was without much taste and underwhelming. The waiter who took our order was attentive enough but the crew delivering food to the table was rude and awful. Having dined at Sea Grill numerous times over the years, today was a completely disappointing experience.
We had a great experience. The food was excellent, service also. Our server kept things moving so we could make our theater time without making us feel rushed. We were seated right up against the glass by the ice rink, which was great.
Wonderful food, service, and ambience. We will certainly miss this classic holiday spot.
Unfortunately, this gem of a restaurant in Rockefeller Center lost its lease and is permanently closed.
The prices were high, but the food and the service were unexcelled, and the vie of the skaters on the rink was priceless.
Horrible. Took to long with my order and drinks. Seem like the waiter wasn’t really caring about our dishes and the food wasn’t even good. Them chefs need help with their cooking because for the price it is not worth it at all
Outstanding experience especially with exemplary service by Nick
We enjoyed the staff and the food. It is closing this week and we are so sorry to see it go because it was part of our Christmas tradition!
Christmas Day. The service couldn’t have been better. The food was fabulous and the view of the tree and the skating rink was wonderful.
El servicio fue estupendo, la comida exquisita y el lugar, mágico. Totalmente recomendable.
Outstanding service, food, location. Can't fault this restaurant which is located on the edge of the Rockefeller Ice Skating Rink with perfect Rink viewing. Great options on their fixed Christmas Day menu. My favorite was the Scallops, where you can request truffle to be added - had both black and white truffle shaved table side. Well worth a visit.
Christmas Day lunch with a three course meal was superb! Really recommend it for families that want a treat for this special day.
Wonderful service and great food. Fun setting.
Too bad that this legendary place is closing and to be replaced by a food court! What a stupid idea!
Food was uninspiring. The BILL was exorbitant
Nantucky scallops were served chopped up in pieces rather than whole, seared and juicy.
Great Staff and Great Food, I will miss this place!
Another wonderful Christmas tradition lunch. Too bad the greedy landlord is closing them down
Devastated that Sea Grill is closing at the end of December. The food, service, and attention to detail are bar none. I will seriously miss this restaurant.
It was my birthday...location is spectacular but food was nothing great and definitely too expensive for the quality of food and wine provided
The Sea Grill is one of New York’s best. If you haven’t been, go before they close permanently in early January 2020.
You need a reservation, or you wont get in. Great place for lunch.
Had such a nice meal and wonderful waiter. So fun and so nice to be seated to see the skaters. Thank you and merry Christmas to all.
Food was good but very expensive. The portions were small considering the price. The location can't be beat but wasn't really worth the price.
Our waitress was helpful and sweet. The food was great!
A lovely place to eat and watch marriage proposals on the ice rink..
We had been coming here every Christmas for the past 4 years, but tonight there was too much lacking and we’ll be changing up our traditions. The oysters, which we bought separately from the prix fixe menu were terrible. Watery, tasteless and $24... when a restaurant is called The Sea Grill, poor quality oysters don’t seem very acceptable.
The service was also terrible. It was obviously packed and waited 20 mins past our reservation to be seated. Our waiter - who individually was wonderful, understanding and attentive - was clearly overloaded and wasn’t able to attend to us in a timely manner. We don’t blame him at all, we feel the venue was understaffed.
The food itself (aside from the oysters) was absolutely delicious, though portions are fancy small.
Really disappointing experience overall for such an expensive dinner.
The atmosphere is lovely but disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food for the price we paid. We didn’t pay for the food but rather the location. Will not visit again or recommend.
The atmosphere cannot be beat especially at the holidays! Service was top notch the food was very good I certainly wouldn’t complain about it only reason it’s not 5 stars is for the price I wasn’t “blown away” by the entrees but aside from that everything was amazing! Highly recommend for the holiday season you literally watch people ice skating at Rockefeller Center highly recommend for date night in the city! We even saw two people get engaged on the ice !
We have a lovely waitress who looked after us so well but the severs and support staff were very grumpy and kept opening cupboards onto my friends chair with no apology. Also which was wholly unacceptable, we split the bill between 2 credit cards and the whole sum was put on one card Mrs Laura Cooks. I have no idea what happened with my card details Mrs Pamela Green. I would like an explanation as to why this was done. We had lovely food and enjoyed ourselves but when paying $135 a head I did not expect to be have to raise such concerns
Please can someone contact me
Thanks
Pam
It was so incredibly disappointing! The service was awful as was the food. The food was ice cold.
Restaurant looking on to the Rockefeller ice skating rink. Special holiday meal from Thanksgiving to New Year’s is a little expensive but well worth the meal. Wait staff couldn’t be more helpful. I would recommend the scallops, my favorite. Unfortunately the restaurant and its sister restaurants in Rockefeller Center are closing in the new year.
Fantastic time to eat at Sea Grill during the holidays
Not at all what we expected for a special holiday meal. Very disappointed. Two out of three of us left hungry because they didn’t care for their food and we didn’t get served any good vegetables. Selections were too limited. Unfortunate because we were so looking forward to a wonderful meal. Not every day we spend $85 per person on a meal and leave hungry.
Unfortunately this iconic beautiful nyc restaurant is being shut down and replaced with a food court? Rockefeller center will never be the same. Soo bummed - whoever made this decision is
Making Rockefeller center an attraction into a cheap franchised amusement park
One of the best meals we've had. Our waiter Kostas was one of the best. We didn't realize it was a prefix menu this time of year, but really enjoyed the options and quality of food. Being able to watch the skaters in Rockefeller ice rink was an unexpected treat. Too bad they will be closing in Jan 20. The chef and team should be followed!
