The Sea Grill Ratings and Reviews
Terrific destination restaurant with wonderful view of skating ring and much better food and service than needed for such an iconic restaurant. Everything was wonderful and I've been going here for years. I highly recommend it and the $49 prix fixe is an excellent value.
This was my 82 year old mom’s Christmas wish... to see the tree and decorations ...since 26 years ago my dad died and immediately after my grandparents as well and she had been reminiscing how much she enjoyed them and missed those days. I told her that her wish would be her Christmas gift!! She loved the restaurant, said, “I feel so rich!”... I told her she is...view of skaters perfect, loved spaced out tables, enjoyed the food immensely, waiter was a gentleman and professional in every way as well as genuine, ... we followed with a tour of the city and she’s been talking about the evening ever since!! Thank you!
We visit NYC once a year and always choose the Sea Grill for dinner. The excellent service, outstanding food, and exquisite location/ view cannot be beat! It is always a special experience, and we have many happy memories there!
I was a lot let down by New Year’s Eve at the Sea Grill. I was alerted of the Prix Fixe but not that the ice skating (a really imperative part of the dining experience) AND Christmas three would be turned off before my reservation began. I would expect this kind of consideration on an important date like this from as nice a restaurant as they purport to be!
The Sea Grill has the best seat in the house to enjoy the scenic view of the Rockefeller ice skating rink and Christmas tree! Our server was very kind, welcoming, friendly, patient with young children, and highly professional. The food was great from start to finish. It is a special treat to enjoy the view of the Rockefeller Center holiday festivities from this restaurant. We saw two marriage proposals on the ice rink and it was heartwarming when all of the guests in the entire restaurant started clapping each time. Dining at the Sea Grill made it a wonderful and special evening!
We chose Sea Grill for our Holiday week trip to NYC. Our table afforded a fantastic view of the famous Rock Center skating rink. We even saw a marriage proposal. Beyond the great views, we enjoyed choosing from the special pre-fixe menu. Lots of choices for both fish lovers and meat eaters. The food was outstanding, worth the $125 pp tab. Service was good but could have been a bit more attentive (had to request water refills). Overall, no regrets .
Reliable holiday favorite. The draw is crowd watching at the Rockefeller Center ice rink.
Prix fixe menu for the Holidays was pricy but you know going in that it’s a tourist spot.
Our server was attentive but failed to offer a cocktail menu until we asked. The silver salt and pepper cellars were lovely but useless without a spoon. Water refills were on request.
Food was good - not great. Fresh seafood, classic desserts ; not groundbreaking cuisine, but delicious.
Excellent, excellent, excellent!
The holiday menu was excellent.
The food was excellent.
There was a wait for the wait service to begin; but we politely asked about the server. After which the server was sent and he as EXCELLENT!
The dining experience and view to the Rockefeller Center holiday skaters and the Plaza Christmas tree as the perfect holiday backdrop.
I loved it and will be back next Christmas.

Everything about the Sea Grill is wonderful. We had lunch there during Christmas Week and had a table near the windows overlooking the Rockefeller Center skating Rink and the Christmas tree. The meals were perfectly cooked - we both had fish - and the service is wonderful. The lunch is priced fixed and is not inexpensive, but it is worth the experience.
Was not sat by window as had previously requested. Fillet was flavorless and lobster mealy. Desserts were best part of meal. Load noise level. Server seemed interested in serving us, often going great lengths of time without check ins. No silverware at one course until asked. Port arrived halfway thru dessert course even tho ordered before.
Great service .
Christmas lunch fixed menu .
Enjoyed the lobster and oysters . My daughters truffle dish was delicious as well.
Highly recommended to anyone for a special occasion. Great view of iconic ice rink at Rockefeller centre with Christmas skaters.
My husband and I were here last year during the holiday season. We loved it. I thought it might be fun to try it with the kids (21,14) on Christmas Eve. While the ambiance was nice, we were very disappointed with the food. Appetizers were great, but the main courses were terrible. We would never go on a holiday again.
Got lucky to get a reservation for Christmas Eve. There was a price fix menu and all the options were delicious and beautiful presentation. The waiter and staff were on-point. Very knowledgeable, charming, and didn't miss a beat. Water glasses always full. Food arrived for everyone at the same time. And watching the people ice skating made it it extra scenic fun. It was our first time and we loved it. It's expensive, but for the special occasion it was well worth it.
We had an INCREDIBLE experience at The Sea Grill. View of the ice rink and Christmas tree is lovely, to start. But beyond that, the service was IMPECCABLE. Our waitress, Nichole, went above and beyond to engage us, make sure everything was perfect, and treat us well. Despite the fact that it was very busy during the holiday season, she seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself, too. And no one tried to rush us, allowing us to enjoy each course fully. And the food was AMAZING. The prix fixe was expensive - but the food was delicious and it was really such a treat to get such an exquisite meal right in Rockefeller Center. Treat yourself - and ask for Nichole.
We go here every year at Christmastime. We have made it a Christmas tradition for us for over 20 years. It is a unique dining experience with beautiful views of the Rockefeller Ice Rink and the famous Christmas tree. The food and service are always wonderful. Summertime there are special dining events that are always fun and worth attending. A New York gem.
I had a really fantastic time this evening but none of it had to do with the food --Very disappointed in the food--especially for the price. Had a regular salad, a bland bouillabaisse and a stale-ish dessert and a lukewarm cappuccino. A life long Manhattanite I thought I would do the touristy thing and go to the Sea Grill at Christmas time. It was still worth it for the ambiance was electric!! Watching all the ice skaters and Zamboni come and go while dining was a real thrill even for me! The service was very friendly and I met nice groups of friendly tourists as well. They really should improve the food to make it an excellent repeat-worthy event, but I don't think I'd go again. But to do once!! Yes!
