The service was slow- it took 30 min to get a drink; had to ask multiple times for a refill or items requested at the time of order. Although the restaurant can’t control what people do- the table next to us listened to YouTube videos out loud and then had multiple phone conversations loudly for all to hear. For those of us trying to enjoy the evening it was a bust all around. The value was not there.
The Sea Grill is always a great experience. From the greeting at the front desk to the end of the meal, it is a first class experience. The food never disappoints and the ambiance is amazing.. We really enjoyed watching the skaters tonight.
atmosfera molto gradevole , tavolo con vista sulla pista di pattinaggio , ottimo cibo e servizio
Great menu and ambience. A place where to held meetings or to go for great fish.
Fabulous birthday dinner. Wonderful fish dishes, crab cake; everything ! Enjoyed watching skaters. Terrific service. All in all a special evening.
We have eaten often at Sea Grill during the day and this was the first evening visit
We were surprised how quiet and uncrowded the place was, giving us an unhurried time with our guests, and focused attention from the waiter.
It was very tasty but extremely small portions for the money and honestly not worth it. The service however was outstanding and the setting overlooks the Rockefeller skate pond so that was kind of neat.
Always enjoyable, good food, intriguing setting, friendly, professional service
The food was mediocre at best. Dessert lacked flavor. On the whole, a huge disappointment.
The food was amazing. The staff was so friendly. Our server was accommodating and even gave us information about the Rockefeller area as we had never been there before.
We dine regularly at the Sea Grill. It is always an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is terrific and the staff is always very welcoming.
One of my favorite places to dine in New York. The staff always does a tremendous job of making its guests feel welcome.
wonderful food, lovely setting overlooking the skating rink at Rock Center, and wonderful service, including their lovely birthday greeting to my dining companion!
Fish always perfectly done.
Service could be more attentive
Staff was knowledgeable, friendly but not pushy . Watching the skaters was a nice attraction . Portions good . Husband stated best crab cakes ever . Creamed spinach and cod very good .
Not crowded atmosphere lovely .
Prices not bad for NYC Rock center !
Excellence in every regard.
Great Valentines Day menu and excellent service all around. Nichole, our waitress, was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Seafood Platter $38
Crab Cakes $12
Filet Mignon $95
It seems that for Valentine's (holidays it says), everyone who is dining at The Sea Grill was opted-in to a prefixed meal for $95 per person. Waiter let me know that there was an email that I should've received. When I checked the email I got from Open Tables on January 17th, there was nothing written. Then I checked my email from February 13th, which I used to click the link to confirm my reservation, I noticed that when I scrolled further down, there was a "What to know before you go" which indicated "On this day, The Sea Grill will serve a special prix-fixe Valentine's Day menu ($95 for dinner), in lieu of our regular a la carte menu." I didn't even understand how we were able to order outside of the $95 meal that costed us extra. Or is the phrase "in lieu" being misused?I gave a call to The Sea Grill next day hoping that the management would understand my frustration. After all, they're a reputable, up-scale restaurant. Today being the 19th, I've still haven't heard from the General Manager. The host that I spoke with, had all the details and the reason why I was calling. But "as per the General Manager," she offered free desserts during our next visit. Sea Grill has admitted that their staff failed to inform us in detail about the prefix menu and the extra charges, but "cannot" do anything except "comp desserts." Honestly, the money isn't the issue here-it's the principle. Sea Grill says they've failed to do something and admitted that they are making corrective actions, but they are having their guests pay the consequences of their mistakes? This is an experience I'll never forget. Every time I hear complimentary desserts, unfortunately I will no longer have an appetite for it.
Food was so-so. Table was small. Valentines Day so understandable. However would have taken my business elsewhere.
What a great easy going delicious ambient place for a Valentines date right before the ANita Baker concert. Loved every morsel--even the bread and butter.
The evenings dining experience was absolutely exquisite. From top to bottom Sea Grill is a must do for a date night.
We love to eat at The Sea Grill especially when seeing a show at Radio City . Absolutely love our server , Costas , he is wonderful ! Food is always amazing , do not miss out on their dignities crab cakes they are the best you can get anywhere .
Reserved on Valentine’s Day. Major Issues Below. Extremely disappointed due to the price value not matching the quality of the food & charged a full price instead of the supplemental charge stated on the pre-fix. Will not be returning.
- Charged the full price ($49) for the Shellfish Tower when menu stated $9 Supplement
- 2 glass of Prosecco $30
- 2 sides for $30+
- Ordered the Salmon & Filet Mignonette both were heavily under seasoned including its accompaniments
- Filet mignon ordered medium well sent to the table as well done, had to re-order
- Bill was $378+ for 2ppl
Loved it. Delicious meal with amazing views of the skaters at the ice rink.
The main attraction is the view of the Rockefeller Center skating rink which is a must see on a visitor's agenda. The food however is pricey but you pay for the venue and the view. The service is very good and friendly
Great food, done right.
Great food, good wine selection, impeccable service. Fun to watch people zoom by on ice skates right outside the window. The only asterisk was the $26 crab cake appetizer. As good as it was, it is quite a bit overpriced, considering its size.
Came here for restaurant week. Pro:Service was excellent! Other than the service, the experience was significantly underwhelming for the price. The potion size for the surf and turf was laughable. Would not return.
Arriving around 7:20 for a 7:30 reservation, we were recommended to wait at the bar since our table was not yet ready. The bar was pretty much a disaster. Messy and not nearly enough servers for the amount of people at the bar, plus they were making drinks for the tables as well. When I finally did order a drink I was charged $55 for a High West Prairie Bourbon, which was billed out as Pappy Van Winkle. When I told the Bartender, he said they are the same price. When I asked him to double check (any bourbon drinker and self respecting Bartender should know they are not in the same hemisphere price-wise), he came back and apologized. We were finally seated around 7:55 for our 7:30 Reservation. The service was weak. The food was good. Overall, the food was not good enough to overshadow the short comings. We won't be going back.
One of the best seafood restaurants in all of NYC. Everything creates a total experience from the moment you sit down (by windows overlooking the ice skating rink) to the moment you finish your last night cap. This is a great place. From the chowder to the pink snapper tot he chocolate cake it was excellent. And it was all complimented by great wines from an excellent wine list. I love this place.
Restaurant week experience. Stephanie the bartender really help make our experience memorable.
Location is perfect overseeing the rink. Food was of decent quality with fresh ingredients, but nothing stood out.
I had such a beautiful and memorable Birthday dinner. The waiter was so attentive and took several pictures for us. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend and I will be back !
Chowder was great. Downhill from there
Great food and service
One of my favorite spots. Conveniently located by my office, food has always been very good, excellent service. Perfect for either a casual lunch/dinner with friends or a business meeting with clients.
Very nice upscale restaurant.
We enjoyed our return visit to Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center, our first visit in several years. The food continues to be remarkably good, the service very attentive, the decor very pleasant but perhaps just a tad dated, and the view of the Rock Center busy ice skating rink very special.
Since two of us were celebrating our January birthdays I had requested a table with a view of the ice skating rink and that's what we got. Our table was a bit off to the side of the large windows framing the ice skating rink, and set back in the 2nd tier of tables. When the first of the tables at the large windows started to empty, I thought we would be moved there because of my several birthday requests in advance in making and confirming the reservation, but no one offered that move. I didn't ask for it since we were there on a Restaurant Week special - but still it was going to be an empty table with a great view on a relatively slow Sunday evening.
We had dinner around 7pm and the place emptied slightly after that. More window tables became open. We finished dinner about 8pm and by then the restaurant had started to get busier again since the ice rink had apparently closed.
Perhaps I'm focusing too much on table location, especially considering all the very poor located tables at New York restaurants, but everything else was top notch. This is a very good restaurant, importantly with very good food and attentive service The price for the two of us was $84 plus tax and tip, giving us a total of over $100. Again this was a Restaurant Week price.
