The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Over priced. Service is good but special instructions on drinks and food are either ignored or forgotten. The very expensive filet was small. I could have driven down to Paul Martin’s on San Antonio Road and had a bigger steak, just as good, for a lot less. The drinks are just as good there too.
This was our first time at The Sea - it did not disappoint. We were there to celebrate my husband's recent work promotion. I called ahead to let the restaurant know we were there to celebrate a special occasion - I wasn't sure what they'd do to mark the occasion. When we arrived, they seated us right away, and handed my husband a card congratulating him on his promotion. When our waiter came, he brought 2 glasses of sparkling wine (which was DELICIOUS). We had the 4-course tasting menu - it was SO GOOD! Portions were good, but not too large, and the food was excellent. For dessert, they brought a beautiful plate with yummy chocolate cake with a candle and "Congratulations on your Promotion" written in chocolate. It was a beautiful presentation and really helped mark the occasion. Love the cotton candy with the bill - makes it sweeter? They also offered us some more cotton candy to go. The Sea is wonderful, top notch. We'll definitely be back.
The food was amazing. Tasty, beautiful and creative. The restaurant is attractive and the tables are far apart so it was lovely to be able to hear the people across the table without shouting. We were celebrating two birthdays and they made the evening extra special with a champagne toast and a lovely special dessert customized for the birthday people. They also gave them each a card.
Besides the items we ordered, there were delicious treats throughout the meal. There was an additional appetizer, yummy breads, and some tasty morsels for dessert including berry flavored cotton candy and a fantastic lemon tart. Overall it was a fun and delicious evening. I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion.
There were four of us for yet another birthday dinner. We brought two special bottles of wine and paid $35.00 each bottle corkage fee. The hamachi shots and lobster rocks were delicious appetizers, one cold and one hot. We love the mero, it is our favorite fish at The Sea. The salmon was also very well prepared. Overall a fun, delightful experience. A bit pricey but perfect for a special occasion. See you same time, next year.
Had my wedding reception here and came back for our one year anniversary! Get the hamachi shots and mero :) I also highly recommend holding a reception here as well...they are so organized and easy to talk/plan with--they have everything you need for a reception (mic, projector, table cloths, dishware, A++++ service). My wedding guests said it was the best food they have ever had at any wedding.
As the name suggests, i'd love to see more seafood menu items.
Food in general was good, but for me, it was overpowered by butter on everything. After half way through the dinner course, i only smelt and tasted butter.
Also, for more intimate settings, i'd suggest a separate area where 2 people can sit and enjoy dinner without having to speak loudly to be heard.
Excellent food very well prepared. Very high-priced and service doesn’t match the caliber of food or the price. Service was aloof and not demonstrating the level of professional attention that you would expect at this level of restaurant. Every dish we had was outstanding And attention needs to be paid on how to provide more attentive service. Our water glasses were not refilled. Our wine was not poured. We had to ask for additional bread. It was a birthday and that was noted in the reservation and while a birthday card was provided which was very nice other diners had candles on their desserts and we did not.
Once again, we had an amazing birthday celebration. There were four of us, two with birthdays. We all had the Tasting Menu. I'm the only one who doesn't eat meat so The Sea served me delicious substitutions for those two courses. Our waiter, Cash, stayed on top of things and was fun to be around. THANK YOU!
Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and left very happy with the choice. The service from our waiter and the rest of the staff was excellent. Felt like they went the extra mile for us. The food was very well presented and tasted great. Would definitely come back and recommend to others looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.
Dining room was very noisy. Could not converse with each other because the table of 4 was so loud & rude. . . Another group of 4 was louder. .. the next table over of 8 raised the noise level to a higher level. . . took 35 minutes to served our main dish. Meanwhile, the table of 2 sat down 10 min after & their meal was served before we were served. What’s going on? Checked your other dining room & would have loved to be seated there... less rude patrons.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal and evening. Tasting menu was top notch and we enjoyed every bite. Service was impeccable. The open kitchen is a really nice touch and you can see the attention and care that goes into preparing the meals. Food and presentation were exceptional! Chef is outstanding and is recognized for using quality local ingredients. Will definitely return again and again...
The Sea delivers what it promises, a fine dining experience. The staff are professionals and well trained, available and attentive. Our serve, Donna, was most helpful in suggesting wine pairings as well as entries that are chef's favorites. The menu is informative and we received each course promptly - no waits.
The food was well prepared, attractively plated, and full of flavor. The only small portion plate was the dessert which we shared, a bit skimpy. In addition to the regular menu, there was a tasting menu on offer
The Sea is a large establishment, accommodating many diners. And it has the professional staff to support a full dining house. Add in the superb food, you have a fine dining experience. And you pay for it. The place runs like clockwork. We will definitely return for one of those special occasion.
The food was exceptional. I had the lobster which did not come with your typical melted butter and I did not miss it for a second. There were other items to scope up with the lobster and every bite was delicious. They do hit the wine list hard.
Our server also tipped our wine glasses and water which drenched one of the guests. We received 2 wine glasses and free desert. She never did ask how our friend was and if she could get her towels. And, we never did see a manager. She was tipped very well and appreciative.
The food was amazing. This is the type of food you would see on a food channel. The sea bass was perhaps the most perfectly prepared fish I've ever had in my life. There were also some fun touches and surprises that added to the experience.
The dessert I had ("Pretty in Pink") tasted good, but it was a little too sweet, and it was a bit strange. But, of course, it was perfectly prepared and did taste amazing.
This restaurant is great for special occasions or, if you have the money, a super-nice date night.
