Server - I believe her name is Joana - MADE the evening!
Great service. Everything else was not even passable. The room looks like a convention center. Food was probably exciting at some point but the preparations are super dated, doused in fake truffle oil (fake truffle oil on sashimi is a bad idea), and generally very poorly executed. Out soft shell crab was completely raw in the middle. They comped it and brought us some truffle fries, but they had so much of that nasty truffle oil on them it smelled like a gas station. Not what you want to be smelling when eating black cod, even if the black cod is mushy and not broiled properly. Amuse bouche was some unrecognizable cold fried lump. Clam chowder tasted like heavy cream reduced with bacon. The “fried clams” may as well have been clumps of fried panko as the clam completely disappeared into the heavy breading.
As always, excellent food and service. We will be back...
Great food and great service
This is our fifth special occasion celebration at the restaurant. We liked the variety of appetizers served and it changes from time to time. Food was fresh and taste quality is good.
This time we felt service was sub-par. We have ordered variety of appetizers and entree to share. On all our previous occasion, we have the entree split for us. This time we did not. I felt the dining experience was rushed. We noticed other tables were offered complimentary drinks for special occasion celebration but we were not. This was disappointing.
This place is amazing. The food, the staff and the cocktails were amazing. If you don’t find something on the menu just ask they may have it. The bar staff is also very knowledgeable about all their offerings.
The food, presentation, and service was outstanding! Particularly our server, Maria. Not only does she know the food and can speak knowleably and passionately about it, she remembers all my preferences. The Hamachi shots are always my favorite. The only negative is the side room has a lot of hard surfaces, and if you get a loud party of people in there, it's hard to converse over the noise. Pricey, but worth it if you appreciate good food and excellent service.
They asked "Is everything ok?" too many times, which kind of interrupted date conversion
It was recommended to us by a friend and we decided to go for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant setting is modern and very pleasant. We settled on the tasting menu which includes a good variety of dishes. The service is impeccable and our server was very patient in explaining the items on the menu. The food was excellent and quite well prepared. The presentation is worthy a top rated restaurant. We stayed there a long time because of the tasting menu, but we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We definitely will come back to try the standard menu items, especially some very intrigue seafood dishes.
Phenomenal as always. Upped the game this time with providing our party a private room. And of course the Tomahawk was just unreal!
Food was amazing and service was wonderful...
It took 15 min after we were seated for our server to appear and another 5-10 min to order our cocktail. After that delay we had great service on great food.
One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time! Delicious food, well presented!
Great service and food! Must try hamachi shots and lobster rocks!
For fairly high-end price, even for Bay Area, the food is the only thing that measures up to the name. Sad because it used to be my favorite place to take customers there.
The big eye tuna was fantastic! Everyone in our party was extremely pleased with the entire experience.
What a wonderful place to celebrate my 2 yr wedding anniversary! I would come back in a heartbeat!
Food is WAAAAY overpriced for what it is. $100 steak came out warm and looked like a supermarket cut.
This time I felt quite disappointed. I don't know if it is because it is too late and chef has gone. Or some other reasons, the food is not as good as I had before.
The food was just sub par, for 2 people we went with the tasting menu and wine pairing, total was $538. I wouldn’t mind paying this much if the food was great but it really wasn’t great, out of the 5 course menu (1 desert included), only 1 was good which was the wagyu and was served last, because of the wine I was so full that I only ate half of it. The rest of the meals were either not good tasting, it was cold, didn’t look/ taste fresh.. I would recommend going with the ala carte - they might me doing a better job of cooking everything fresh.
I loved the white and clean interior of the restaurant. The servers where all very attentive and informed us well about all our dishes as well as the wine. Every dish was so delicious and well executed.
The food and service were outstanding!
Service is attentive; both food and wine taste great; presentation is wonderful too.
Superb service and a yummy meal!
Birthday gift to ourselves!
The appetizers were superb. I had the tuna tartare and my wife had the soft shell crab. I had the black rock cod for dinner with a side of green beans. The piece of fish on top were nicely cooked, however the piece at the bottom was over cooked. My wife had the salmon and enjoyed the dish. Fortunately, the portions were good and we didn’t have room for dessert.
This is the third time we celebrated our wedding anniversary, the food (my wife had the Black Sea Bass and I had the Wagyu Ribeye) was super delicious and the service was exceptional as usual.
It’s pricey but worth it. We were celebrating a birthday so it started with a happy birthday card and free half glasses of champagne. Then two free sushi bites. The bread was amazing. Had lobster and I was stuffed after this meal. Perfectly prepared vegetables. Free cotton candy and a small brownie dessert also free for the birthday girl. Bill was $167 for 2 with no salads or appetizers but it felt like a celebration.
We always have a great experience at The Sea. Tonight the service was just outstanding for my parents’ anniversary dinner. The people make all the difference and The Sea continues to prove that.
The best steak I've ever eaten ... Also the most expensive. Great for a special occasion, just save some money before you go.
Birthday celebration. The tasting menu was excellent and chef was will to accommodate for substitution. Friendly and attentive service.
Incredible food, beautiful restaurant, impeccable service... but prices
were over the top ridiculous. Most likely would not eat here again
Good food and service. Really expensive
Great & abundant choices. Somewhat overpriced. Service above average.
It was warmer inside than it was outside. We were all sweating
We ordered fish and steak with two appetizers and dessert, but eventually realized the $135 per person tasting menu would have saved us some money! I’d recommend the tasting menu if you want everything!
The steak is larger than I imagined =]
This was the best dinner we’ve ever had. We came here for a birthday and the food was amazing and the service was top-notch. We ordered the black miso card, bigeye tuna, hamachi shots, the shrimp scampi, and a few drinks. We were given complementary champagne and dessert for the birthday. I highly recommend this place I will be coming back again.
If you have the $ than The Sea is great. For three of us with two not drinking alcohol it came to $400. Service was outstanding, food was great and the drinks fantastic. Just wish it wasn't quite so expensive because we would visit more often.
My experience was good. They check all of the boxes as a high end restaurant. The Hamachi shooters come six to an order and it is a bit overwhelming for one person.
Perhaps they should make each of the shooters different
