The Schooner Restaurant & Lounge
The service and courtesy were very good. However, the noise level from the kitchen was very loud, with them banging pots and pans. I, also feel the prices are a little high. The food I had was excellent, but $27 is a little costly for mac and cheese with crab. But I would recommend it for special occasions, not everyday type.
The Schooner is a most excellent restaurant in Netarts which is about 8 miles from Tillamook, and this place has offerings on the menu which are unusual and satisfying; clams with chorizo, crab and cheese dip with not only bread, but fruit as well, broiled oysters with a wonderful sauce, and an excellent choice of wines. Will I be back? Absolutely, and will bring friends there again and again.
James our waiter was absolutely phenomenal. The most attentive service I have received in a long time. The restaurant was super busy. We sat outside with the fireplace and heater on. The food we had was amazing. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Again best waiter!!!
Great food, go again for sure, that crab dip with crudites and toasty bread was excellent, the clams with chorizo sublime, and the oysters broiled were some of the best I’ve had!
We had the clam fettuccini and the Dungeness crab mac and cheese. Truly the best of each we have EVER had. The use of herbs in the fettuccini was amazing. I only wish I had the recipes!! The only oven they have is this cool wood burning pizza type in the wall by where we sat. That makes every dish that much more special. Keep the fans on for air circulation though 👍
Waited over an hour for our dinner, and got the wrong food. Disappointing and not worth the money. Food was just okay.
very pleasant staff, good food & service!
A lovely location. We enjoyed our fresh fish and chips and the big local salad topped with fried oysters! This place is a gem. Worth the detour on our drive along the coast. Supporting restaurants that source from local farmers, fishermen, and businesses is something we seek out.
Great place for lunch or dinner! Being able to make reservations so easily made it exceptional.
We got there about 2 PM when the lunch crowd was finishing up. Initially they said 45 min for food but it came out in ten min. It is a beautiful place so we would have been happy to wait and sip their great selection of craft beers.
We ordered clam chowder and crab cheese dip and they were the best I’ve ever had. My wife ate most of the dip even though I ordered it!
We made reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was friendly but inattentive. I don’t know if she was in the weeds or what? Once she took our orders she rarely came by and everything from her came very slowly. Either they need to staff more waitresses and waiters or hire more experienced staff because it was verrry slow going.
My food, on the other hand, was quite tasty.
It was my birthday and I was thrilled to see that the table was already set for us.
The food is beyond delicious. I had the mac and cheese with crab! Yum!!
Worst restaurant ever! The service is beyond slow! Even kids burger took an hour to show up!!
Delicious food, great presentation, fantastic location just off the water!
I hit the Schooner at least once every time I go to Netarts. The food is great, and I love that they get their ingredients from local farmers and fishers. The menu is always outstanding, the food and drinks are delicious, and the staff is friendly and helpful. And it's fun to watch the kitchen staff work in the kitchen and cook in the wood oven. For me dinner at the Schooner is always a special occasion treat, but it's perfect for that. The bar adjoining is also a chill place to grab a beer and a snack, which is a plus if you need a break from the more family-friendly din that can sometimes occur in the main restaurant.
What a true and utter disappointment. I don’t them on Instagram and then was so excited to check it out from what I had heard. We made 7:00 reservations and arrived on time. We were seated and I swear to you not, not addressed until 17 minutes of sitting there and countless staff walking by. I finally went back to the hostess and asked if we could be greeted. She sent someone over who told us hi but that she was not our waitress and that Tenetia would be! Well then tenetia came by( we had been here now we’ll over 20 minutes). Without saying hello she said “are you guys ready to order?”. We hadn’t even been given a drink menu. Long story short the waitress ended up being the first person and this place DESERVES ZERO STARS FOR BOTH FOOD AND THE QUALITY OF. CUSTOMER SERVICE! Do yourself a favor and skip it, it’s not cheap and the food is of Red Robin!
Great food & friendly service. Shrimp & grits , crab cakes & bananas foster were delicious! Open fire pit tables & view of the bay
Enjoy the Cioppino, lots of calamari and clams. Although it was MIranda's 2nd day on the job she did an excellent job in being our server. Did not get the name of her "Shadow" but she taught Miranda well. Great view of Bay. The only thing I wish they had was Dungeness crab. they had the crab cakes but was looking forward to Dungeness crab. Otherwise great dinner with my wife.
Terrible experience. We waited 25+ minutes without a sever coming to our table. We finally decided to leave. I do not recommend.
Couldn’t ask for a better location.
We've been impressed with The Schooner for some time. The freshness of the salads in particular is wonderful. Fish & Chips outstanding as is their clam chowder. Although it was a tad thicker than usual last night. (we're in the thin clam chowder school) . The service is casual, I'd say but the vibe is very friendly.
Food was amazing. Sat outside it was a little chilly they pulled out a outdoor heater and we warmed right up.
The restaurant has a small but interesting menu. Great seafood, generous portions. We made a reservation at the last moment, but got a phone call saying that the restaurant is very busy and the spot may not be available at our preferred time. Came 15 min earlier and were seated. Very pleased with the service.
Good food but so expensive!!! The service was good tho we had to wait 30 minutes for drinks. I wish there were more vegan choices and non sea food choices...but, it is the Schooner!!
Family of four. Arrived with a reservation. Seated promptly. Lady was seated next to us around 10 minutes after us and got her food and drink order in before we were waited on. Said "excuse me" as three employees were nearby and asked if someone would be waiting on us soon and the gentleman said he would be with us soon. Took another 5 minutes or so. Ordered food with beverage for fear of getting overlooked and waiting longer. Waited another 15 minutes, no drinks. How long does it take to pop the top on a bottle of beer and pour a pint? Lady next to us is getting her dessert about now. Walked to front and said "look I'm trying hard to be patient here but we've been here AT LEAST a half hour and don't even have our drinks yet!" Ten minutes later drinks arrive. Ten minutes later food arrives. We're at an hour by this point. Two kids meals, a salad, bowl of chowder and some wings...nothing too involved to take that long, especially when the restaurant was less than half full. Food was delicious as expected from a recommendation we had received. We were asked if we wanted dessert to which I replied, "if we're getting charged for everything that we waited so long for, I would ask for a complimentary dessert" which was readily granted. Dessert was delicious too. Look, I know everyone has bad days and I'm not sure if it was just our server or a more involved series of missteps that resulted in such a ridiculously long wait but something needed to be communicated to justify the experience. Many would never return but based on the food and ambiance I would give it another try. If I waited anything like 30 minutes again for a simple drink order of two beers and two milks I think you could steam clams by holding them next to my ears and I would not be returning.
Sorry to say the crab cakes were udercooked and the dinner salad was almost weird. Service was uneven. Not a pleasant experience.
I love this place. The seafood is always fresh! My favorite is the trout and toast which they now only have sometimes, bring it back, please! The Garden Vowl is also delicious. Sometimes the service is a little slow but I always come back and bring my friends. When the waitstaff is on it's a great experience. Really love the place and it's one of the two or three best places to eat in this area. If it's chilly they will bring you a blanket! I love that. And they are quite friendly!
