Wow.. this was an amazing experience from start to finish. I went for my birthday with my family and no one had anything that we haven't been raving about since. From the bread they brought us to dessert, everything about the Savoy was exceptional.
Excellent food. The best Prime Rib I have ever had. Just wish they had more options on the menu.
Great ambiance for a fantastically delicious dinner with family!
Always amazing food and drinks. Quiet and romantically lit atmosphere.
So glad to hear you're enjoying the experiences with us! Appreciate the positive sentiments. Best, Scott Tipton F&B Director
It was amazing!!! We had a great experience I would recommend it to anyone
Thanks, Vanessa! So happy to hear the experience was a hit. Appreciate you taking the time to post a review. Best, Scott Tipton F&B Director
One if the best meals I have had in a while. Great flavors and lots of locally sourced food.
Thanks for the review! We do love our local farms and vendors as well. We'll continue to mix up the offerings based on what's fresh and exciting from our purveyors. Hope you'll join us again soon. Best, Scott Tipton F&B Director
The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. Parking is an issue and it seems a bit much to pay $7 for valet parking for lunch.
Thanks for providing the feedback, Anthony! Glad you enjoyed the food and service. We have lowered our parking to $5 for valet, and always recommend looking around for street parking in the evening to save a few bucks. There's also a self-parking lot to the east of the building with ample parking, as well as a covered garage directly across the street for the winter months. Hope we can host you again soon. Best, Scott Tipton F&B Director
The food is delicious and the service was great. I was a little frustrated as it was my husbands birthday and no one said anything about it. I indicated this on the request. Other than that it was wonderful
Thank you for celebrating this special occasion with us. Our team is usually really eager and excited to celebrate special occasions so we are very sorry to read that we didn't recognize your husband's birthday during your dining experience. We are glad to see that you enjoyed your meal otherwise and will do better next time! Thank you, Muncher1 and we will hope to see you again soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
We enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. Definitely one of my favorite places to go.
We are so very thrilled to be one of your favorite places to go, Jessika! Thank you for your recommendation and kudos. We will absolutely look forward to your next visit! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Our dining experience at 21c was wonderful. The food was delicious and our waiter,Nick, was fabulous.
We are so happy to see that you had a wonderful experience. Thank you for taking the time to recognize NIck's service too. We will look forward to your next visit with us! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
World class! I live in Europe-the Savoy blends European quality with K.C. home-town flair!
What accolades, SherylB! Thank you for dining with us here at The Savoy and we sincerely appreciate your patronage and praise. Please come back again soon. -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Although not an inexpensive restaurant, The Savoy is definitely great for special occasions. My husband and I had a drink at the bar, which has a nice selection of craft cocktails, prepared in an elegant style. The dinner menu was unusual and inventive. We both enjoyed our choices but agreed that the chocolate dessert was most impressive and delicious. The cotton candy at the end was an unexpected surprise.
Thank you very much, meredechats! We are so very happy to see that you and your husband enjoyed your experience with us and particularly dessert. Thank you for dining with us and we hope to see you again for the next special occasion! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Beautiful dining room. Very attentive service. Great bar selection. Creative food menu. Gnoochi starter star of meal. Lamb a little too salty for my taste. Spiced not quite balanced.
Thank you for this review, Sqush! We are pleased to see that you enjoyed such attentive service and the gnocchi. We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding your lamb entree and will be sharing your comments with the team. We will absolutely look forward to your next visit and hope to see you soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Overall a nice experience. Lobster needs to go back on the menu. Don't know who decided on the art that was on display but it was limp. Dark and depressing for the most part. "Murder Dollhouse" set the mood, and it was not a pleasant one. Pretty sick bunch of artists. If I recommend it to friends I will suggest they skip the art display.
Greetings, Davidg! We are happy to see that overall you had a nice experience. The piece to which you refer recreates the horror made famous by Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" and the artist's intent is to show how public response to such tragedies has transformed with the expansion of mass media. The piece is part of the rotating exhibit and we sincerely hope you will find one more to your liking during your next visit! Thank you for your honest feedback and we hope to see you again!
Too dark where we were seated. (Truman booth) Could’t See the food well particularly the beef. Had the crab pasta appetizer and crab was overwhelmed by seasoning particularly heavy with salt and it was tasteless. Same with lobster pasta side. Service was mediocre at best.
Robert, we are sorry to see that the lighting detracted from your experience in our beloved Truman booth. Thank you for giving us this feedback regarding your meal so that we can share it with our team. We hate that you didn't enjoy your meal and that service wasn't up to par. We sincerely appreciate your comments and hope to impress you at your next visit, RobertB! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
The food was both delicious and interesting! Questions about the menu were explained well by our waitress, who was polite, professional and knowledgeable.
Thank you for the shout out, WilliamH! We are so happy to see that you enjoyed your food and that your server provided such great hospitality. We hope you'll be back to The Savoy soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
We enjoyed it so much on Thursday that we returned on Friday. The menu was limited, but provided a range of choices ranging from standard to unusual fare creatively prepared and plated. The dining room was a wonderful restoration of space that has been used for a restaurant for a century or more. A restaurant worthy of its location in a 21c Museum Hotel.
We are so very thrilled to see that your experience on Thursday prompted your visit with us again on Friday! It's what we love to hear. Thank you for complimenting our restoration as we love The Savoy's rich history and charm. Thank you again and we will sincerely look forward to your next visit! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Awesome setting for an anniversary dinner!
Thank you for celebrating your anniversary with us! We are so happy to see that you enjoyed your dining experience and hope you'll be back soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Got to sit in the special booth with a penguin.. what else can you ask for??
There is no better way to experience The Savoy! Our penguins love to keep you company and will be eagerly awaiting your return! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Had the walleye with oysters. Very good. Oysters were excellent. I would like to see a dinner with them.
Service was somewhat slow and took a wile for the waiter to get our drink order.
Good afternoon, NancyP! Thank you for your review and for providing us with this feedback. We are happy to see that you enjoyed your oysters and do want to apologize for service taking longer than we'd like. We hope you'll be back soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
The Savoy is now serving only in their much beloved heavy dark wood and stained glass historic dining room. I have eaten there twice for lunch in the last two weeks and the food was outstanding both times. I loved the open-faced BLT special, the egg tartine and the unusual and delicious chicken noodle soup. In addition, I got to sample friends' charred broccoli salad and pasta verde, both interesting and delicious. I would definitely go again and soon! The 21C Hotel's art exhibit is a big bonus.
Lizzie, thank you for this great review! You can't go wrong with a BLT and we are so happy to see that you have enjoyed your lunches with us. We will look forward to your next visit and don't forget to bring a friend so you can get another sampling! Thanks again, Lizzie! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Let me say we have recently been to the 21c in Bentonville and had a great experience. We enjoy the concept of restaurant/hotel with art and were looking forward to this one in our home town. As past patrons of The Savoy which we LOVED, we were happy to see they kept as much of the historic interior of the restaurant as they did. It has so many memories. That is about where the nostalgia left off. The bartenders are not friendly and kinda snooty. The drinks are unique and fun but remarkably small for the price. The food was very disappointing - we travel extensively in the US and in Europe and this is the first time I was unable to eat my meal. It was SO salty!! I understand the brining thing but this was just overboard. They did offer to replace my choice with something else, but then I would be eating a half an hour after my husband, so I passed. They did take it off the bill and gave us a free dessert (which we also did not like). Unfortunate! So, on to the artwork. If my arteries were slamming shut from the salt intake, they were opened back up by the shocking mass murder display in the first room....Not one of our better experiences.
Good afternoon, LesliS! First, thank you for your continued patronage of 21c. Second, we sincerely appreciate your loyalty and are so very sorry that you were disappointed in your recent experience at The Savoy. We take pride in hospitality and we clearly missed the mark with our service, the seasoning of your entree and again with the dessert we gifted you. I will be sharing your feedback with the team and we hope you will give us another try. -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Great service and the food was great but overpriced.
Thank you for your rating and feedback. We are happy to see that service was great. I will make sure to share your comments with our food and beverage director. We hope to see you again soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
One of the best dining experiences we had in Kansas City! The menu was innovative and humorous, the food was tasty and refreshing, the service was personable and attentive. We had really good time having dinner here!
The art gallery visit after the dinner was an icing on the cake!
Kaihui, what high praises! Thank you so very much for these compliments. We are so very pleased to see that you enjoyed a delicious meal paired with such great service. Thank you for checking out the art! It's the perfect way to end a meal. We hope you'll be back soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Everything was amazing. Great service and wonderful food.
We are so very happy to see that everything was amazing! It's what we love to hear. Thank you for your review and we hope you'll be back to The Savoy soon! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
Service was superb! Love being at the Savoy again!
Gabrielle, We are so glad you came back! Our service team will be over the moon to know you found them to be superb. Please don't hesitate to reach out for any special requests before your next reservation. We love personalizing your experience! BIG THANKS! Damon Bailey - Manager
Everything was enjoyable; friendly staff, tasty unique food, nice art gallery. What was really nice was that we could actually hear each other and have a nice conversation. We were in a booth so I don’t know how loud it is at a table.
Jim, BIG thanks for the 5 star review! Our team will be overjoyed to know that you thought them friendly and your overall experience enjoyable. The six historic booths are part of the restaurants original furnishings and provide great cover for intimate conversations, romantic celebrations, or top secret business deals ;) Please let us know before your next visit and we will be sure to reserve one in your name. Until then... Best Wishes, Damon Bailey - Manager
The food was amazing. Every dish from appetizer to side to cocktails was a study in balance among contrasting elements: salty/sweet/bitter, soft/firm/crunchy, etc. I recommend that you get an interesting cocktail - we got a martinez in a classic style and as a modern interpretation. The staff was attentive and helpful. The ambiance is more like a pub than a fine dining establishment, but the food is not your typical pub food (though you can get a burger). Prices aren't cheap, but within the window I would expect for food of this quality.
Since we stayed at the hotel, we also had breakfast at the Savoy, and it also did not disappoint.
Phil, Thank you so much for your visit and your review! We are pleased beyond measure to know that you found the food and service to be of high quality. Our team spends serious time getting playful with ingredient, technique and presentation and its a great feeling to know when they are appreciated and acknowledged. Should you find yourself in our neck of the woods in the future, don't hesitate to call ahead with any needs or wants. Cheers to you, friend! Best, Damon Bailey - Manager
Had a prefix menu before going to see Hamilton. All of the food was very good, service excellent and a cool atmosphere. They timed our meal perfectly and we made it to the show on time. Overall, great experience!
Austin, Thank you for choosing us! Our management team really put their heads together to create the pre-theater menu as a quick, hassle-free way for guests to get a great dining experience and be still be show-bound by 6:30. You are one of many to voice your appreciation and because of that we plan on continuing this menu for other similar shows and events. So keep us in mind as your event calendar rolls through the rest of the summer and the holidays. Regards, Damon Bailey - Manager
The service, food, and cocktails were impeccable. I really enjoyed the amuse bouche, great flavors there. Tia in the bakery made a special chocolate birthday card and drew a kitty on the dessert plate for the birthday gal. The hotel staff offered our trio a tour of the penthouse and that was a great experience. Thanks for making my friend’s birthday so wonderful.
We took advantage of the Hamilton pretheater dinner menu. 3 courses and complimentary valet for $42. Hard to beat. The service was a bit slow to start off, but picked up. The manager checked in on us throughout the meal. We sat in a booth which was more private and nice for a date night. Had we been at a table, the ambience may have been lacking. The food was definitely the star of the show! A surprise amuse Bouche, then A gazpacho crudo to start had us wanting more. Perfect for summer. Main course included halibut with vegetables in a nice broth and prime rib. Just the right amount and delicious. We finished by splitting the chocolate dessert. Overall, I would definitely go back. Servers need some fine tuning for a restaurant of this level
Great venue and vibe. Menu is quite limited, and items do sell out, unfortunately. Drinks were meh, and one would have thought that this area would have been crushed, but no.
We were really looking forward to our Brunch outing for our group of 7. Very disappointed!
Bloody Mary’s were so so... would not order them again.
They were out of 3 of our choices. Service was slow- tho they were not busy at all.
We loved our dinner experience- but Brunch is sadly on our Never Repeat list.
We waited over 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us or take drink orders. Thankfully we were not in a rush and that was the only hiccup in our evening.
Food and service was great, but moved restaurant into bar of hotel and ambiance was lackluster.
Anonymous, Thanks for your visit! We consider all guest feedback as we continue to evolve. We have always offered dinner service in the historic 'Savoy Grille' room as well as in the adjacent brighter contemporary space. Due to guest demand we've added seating in the historic room and converted the adjacent space into a gallery. Stay tuned this summer as we undergo a few more exciting changes that should make for an even better dining experience. Thanks again, Damon Bailey - Manager
Our son lives in Kansas City, and we were in town for Father's Day weekend. We always stay at 21c and usually like to have dinner at The Savoy while we're there. Note that the hotel has moved The Savoy from its previous space near the lobby to the Bar (which was originally the Savoy Grill). I like the restaurant in the Bar much better, and am happy to see that the hotel has returned that space "to its roots." The space in which The Savoy was previously located is being redesigned as an event space.
Always great food and great service, and this visit was no exception. Excellent cocktails. My husband and son ordered the Slow Roasted Prime Rib (their favorite), and I ordered the Great Lakes Walleye Fish. Everyone's entrees were superb, the service was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Highly recommended!
Walleye and Halibut was delicious
highenddiner, Thanks for the 5 star review and for coming in for dinner! Our Great Lakes Walleye is quickly becoming a favorite around here. Our chef team will love to know that you enjoyed it! My personal favorite part is the fried oyster topper. We are almost always bringing in fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients. Feel free to reach out at any time if you have questions about our menu or a reservation. Best Wishes, Damon Bailey - Manager
We actually ate at The Savoy for brunch and dinner in one day! We had a lovely experience and everything was very good. My only comment is that you need to consider keeping some gluten-free bread/bun options on hand. I'm not celiac but I become very unwell when I eat wheat. That is becoming so common now that having some options for us is much appreciated!
LauraW, Thank you so much for your double patronage! I'm sending this review to our team because I know they will be happy to hear you loved everything. Great feedback on Gluten-Free bread options. Look forward to better availability in the near future. Please keep us in mind for future outings whether its breakfast, dinner or a late-night snack. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact our management team. Best, Damon Bailey - Manager
it was a thrill to see the historic Savoy back in action and again serving some of the best food in Kansas City. They even had my favorite - the walleye - back on the menu. I first went to the Savoy when I first moved to KC in '79, and truthfully, I thought it was forever dead once 21C hotels took it over. I figured they would make it all modern and hip. Instead, they kept it historic . . . and hip. Many people new to the old Savoy ambiance likely will find it dark and loud. The tile floors acoustically make it seem so. But it is great. Resurrected in wonderful form.
Robert, We're thrilled that you enjoyed the experience and are able to appreciate the history of the space while taking in the contemporary updates. It's truly an honor for us to be able to bring those two worlds together. Happy to hear you enjoyed the walleye - our seafood selections, and the menu as a whole, will continue to change regularly to reflect the Chefs' inspiration and the freshest items available. We'll look forward to seeing you back again soon. Best, Scott Tipton F&B Director
