About

For over four decades the Saucy Noodle Restaurante has been a Denver landmark at the same location at 727 South University Boulevard. The little spot, known to locals throughout the Washington Park, Cherry Creek and Bonnie Brae districts was originally known as Jim Sano's when it was purchased by the Badis family in 1964. Sam Badis, a former Big Band Leader and Denver entrepreneur, held court with a gregarious smile and warm welcome and served up what is arguably the best pizza and pasta in town. Traveling the country in the '60's and 70's Sam would frequently buy unique antiques in small towns and haul them back to the Saucy Noodle to adorn the restaurant's, now famous, red velvet walls.

Silverware and dishes were still dirty. Hot appetizer special was served cold.

Great service and traditional Italian look/feel restaurant. The salad and appetizers were great! The meals varied from overcooked to frozen so hard to recommend. Lots of potential but the mains need to be good!

The food here is always good ... hearty, well-prepared and generous portions. In fact, a lot of times my husband and I each order a salad and then share an entrée. When we both order an entrée we know that we'll each have enough for a nice lunch the following day. We both love the gorgonzola salad dressing and the lasagna, although the sausage and peppers is excellent, as well.

The restaurant was very out of date and not very clean or inviting . Staff was cleaning while there were still people dining. Chairs were put on tables before closing. Staff also eating and drinking alcohol at bar rather than waiting on Customers. Food tasted old as if were from previous day. Bread tasted stale and meatball was cold when served. Not a good first impression at all. Service was not very attentive.

The food was expensive for what you got. I will not be back. The restaurant inside is cute, but the food and service is not worth if.

We went here on a week night around 8 pm. They were just busy enough to make things feel energetic. The menu had many choices. Salads were good, wine was very decent and our meals were excellent. The red sauce is excellent.
Will be back to try more options on the menu.

Hadn't been here in years....and it is the same great place I remember. Food , staff, and ambience was fantastic. I even saw a friend that I haven't see in 30 years. I brought my kids to see and experience good Italian, in our old neighborhood.

Being quite the chef herself my wife is not often impressed with qualty and authenticity of Italian Restaurants. This evening was an exception! Everything was delicious and we enjoyed the antipasta well into the next day. Can't wait to go back!

Toasted cheese raviolis with spicy marinara were excellent.

Portions are large, best to take family style share approach.

Chicken parm was excellent, gives our North End in Boston a run for its money.

Went to the Saucy Noodle with my husband for an impromptu date. Was delicious! Portion sizes were great and they had more than just your typical Italian Fare. Pretty good variety. Parking is a nightmare though, there does not appear to be any public parking for the resto itself, except for a few spots out front that fill quickly. We had to park about a block away on a residential street and walk over. But still totally worth it!

We decided to dine at one of our favorite Denver Italian eats before a Saturday night concert performance in the area. We were promptly seated upon arrival. We waited a bit longer than usual for our waiter to acknowledge us, there apparently was a "kitchen issue" with another order. But once we put in our drink and dinner order, the rest of the evening was terrific. Our waiter was very attentive but not hovering. I had the Spinach Salad with Smoked Salmon and my wife had the Polenta with Meatball and Marinara. Both were fantastic. Portions were large enough for a doggie bag to take home for another meal. We will return again soon, I promise.

Just happened to find this local gem after a Friday night game at DU. The atmosphere was fun and felt like I was in a little village restaurant in Italy. The pizza was delicious as was the side salad I ordered. The homemade dressing for the salad was very good. My girls ordered Ravioli and said it was very good. We will go be and enjoyed this neighborhood family place.

Heard the lasagna was a favorite - I hated it. My wife's spaghetti was good and our server was great considering how busy he was able to keep up wand th drink refills and checking on us. I will try something else other than the lasagna next time.

Great value for the money. We actually ended up ordering way too much food. Probably could have split a single entree in addition to an appetizer.

We frequent this spot because it is kid friendly and food is decent for price. We made reservations for 6:15pm through open table a week in advance for 6 . Table was not ready until 6:30. Water/waitress first greeted us at 6:45. No customary bread delivered. Drink orders were taken. Drinks did not arrive until 7. Orders not taken. No bread delivered. Orders taken 7:15, complimentary bread asked for. Menu had changed, so two entrees had to be re-ordered. No bread delivered. 7:25 told that one of the re-ordered entrees was no longer available, second substitute order placed. No bread delivered, asked for water refills, no offers to refill alcoholic beverages. 7:30, dinner salads delivered. Bread not delivered, waters not filled. 7:45 dinners delivered. Salad plates and empty alcohol glasses never taken away. Prices in menu have increased and customer service has decreased. No value in pricing now.

Been coming for literally decades and while I might have changed a bit over those years, always happy to say that The Saucy Noodle has not. That's not to say the menu hasn't slightly evolved or that it's dated. No, it's just a great comfortable place with tremendous value-for-money portions on great-tasting, often homemade, food. Service this time, a first (never saw this server before) was somewhat absent. Sat for ages at the end needing some extra sauce for a "doggie" bag before finally getting up and asking someone else. Otherwise, great as always.

The Saucy Noodle is an old school Italian restaurant. The polenta was excellent, the eggplant parmigiana was good, the shells were just okay. The spaghetti was terrific. You just have to know what to get. I love the place.
