We went for brunch in a Sunday, the brunch menu felt fairly limited and items were hit or miss. Best thing we ordered were the Jenga tater tots. Additionally, the downstairs part of the restaurant had a strong mildew/mold/sour smell and wafted upstairs once in a while. Luckily we were seated upstairs.
My first visit and I was very pleased with the entire experience. I absolutely loved the ambience, it feels like a restaurant in one of Manhattan's hippest neighborhoods. The decor is fabulous and the fact that it is located within a building that proudly proclaims it was built in 1908 makes it all the more special. I cannot wait to return with more friends so they can also have the same wonderful experience that I did. Great burger and fries!
The overall experience was good, the cocktails were great and so was the food. We made mention when booking our reservation and during the meal that one guest is celiac... Unfortunately after double checking a few items to ensure they did not contain gluten it seams likely a few did resulting in a not so great experience for one of the group.
Ambiance, cocktails and food all were good, but be warned about the potential for gluten if your celiac and maybe triple check or ask to speak with the chef so you don't ruin the rest of your weekend.
The Brisket was AMAZING! Perfect flavor. Right amount of salt and fat. Highly recommended. Think they only serve it on Tuesdays, though.
Food was really good! The staff are friendly, and the whiskey selection is one of the best in SF.
Loved the bar and ambience. The burger was exceptional and the drinks were stellar.
What a great place! The happy hour here is a must. The servers are welcoming too. Come here, you won't regret it.
just serving brewed coffee, no espresso ... otherwise I would have given 5 stars
We were in San Fran for a week and went to many top end restaurants , this was by far the best . Simple small menu featuring basic comfort food like burgers and dogs but done with flare and excellent favor. We were so impressed and happy to have a great meal in SF. Staff and service by eclectic team that was as good as you can get.
Great food, great atmosphere - traveling with our son with gluten issues and the staff knew exactly how everything was made and with what ingredients! How refreshing! Nice to see a trained, interested staff!
I believe The Saratoga is fairly new, we wish them all the luck and will be back on our next visit!
Too loud and too dark
A real gem. Great food, polished but not pretentious service and a fantastic choice of atmosphere. Good value for the overall experience.
Depends on what you want - if you want quiet and big plates this is not it. If you want cool bar scene this is it.
This lovely bar and restaurant is a great place to go and catch up with a friend or two.
This place is pretty good. An excellent assortment of cocktails on the burger was really delicious. Eating quarters are a bit cramped, they really pack you in & the prices are pretty steep for what you get. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a shot and we will probably be back if we are in the area again in the future.
I booked under Saratoga’s 5 for $5 special- I called to see what this special was snd they told me they would have five drinks and five bites for $5 each. They let me know that the special ended at 6pm but since the special showed up on opentable for that 6p window, they would honor it. This was 2 days before my reservation
When we got there we were passed through three people - one who was extremely rude and arrogant and approached us saying “so i hear there is some confusion with our bar menu” i started to explain what I was told over the phone, for the third time and he cut me off to tell me that opentable has been screwing up their bookings and that they could not honor what we booked or was told on the phone (by their employee) instead they offered us one round of drinks for $6 - which was pretty lame. I would have preferred to leave but we were celebrating a friend’s move.
I will not be back after that visit.
Nice atmosphere, food was very good. Old fashioned cocktail delicious
Great experience. Loved the service.
First server was rude, arrogant, downright obnoxious.
Manager stepped in and she was amazing.
I wish I remembered the server’s name so I could advise that you ask not to be seated with her....
overall, great place.
Will go back, but will ask not to be seated with the angry, miserable, hating server who acted as if she hated people and was annoyed we were there.
We went here on Saturday July 6th. Drinks, ambiance and service were as good as it gets. Food was fine. We particularly liked the Chicken sliders and will order them again. Tater tots and hoho desert were quite good but we will try something else next time. It was a bit pricey. Our next trip will be for happy hour. 🥃🍹🍸🥂
Came here for my birthday dinner tonight. The Cuban Frank was delicious, as well as the scotch pudding. Great cocktails and great vibe!
pretzel bites with green chile queso is a MUST!! we ordered two! Scotch pudding was a little too sweet. Beautiful restaurant. I plan to visit again!
Nice appetizer but not many choices for dessert
Our first time brunching at The Saratoga was amazing! Since I mentined our anniversary when I booked, they were kind enough to start off our brunch with a lovely glass of champagne on the house. The service was friendly and attentitive, but not overly so. They have a brunch bingo game that gets you a stamp for completing certain things or ordering specific items. It was fun and silly and will ensure our return on another Sunday soon. The brunch fare was delectable and well prepared. Billionaire's Bacon is a huge slab of pork belly which was fantastic. Get the Happy Meal - their homemade version of the egg McMuffin with oyur choise of meat. The Happy Meal version comes with a tiny Miller Highlife and some really amazing hashbrown cakes. The benedict comes on a pretzel roll with really delicious ham and homemade sauce (not hollendaise, but I can't recall which sauce) and was very tasty. Highly recommend this place!
The cheese on the burger was off putting. It smelled so bad my friend wouldn’t eat it and that got into my head so I couldn’t eat mine. Everything else was 👍🏽
We were seated downstairs as I had requested on my open table reservation. The downstairs seating is so classy and quiet enough for a leisurely birthday dinner with friends.
The food is also very fun and festive for a special occasion meal.
When we got home from dinner my husband thought he had left an item there at the restaurant. When I called them they were very kind to look of it and called me back with a response.
Everything about the restaurant is first class.
We ordered the buffalo chicken sliders, the pretzels with green chili queso, pulled pork sliders, chicken liver pate, and the house tater tots. For dessert we had the ho hos. Everything was excellent. We will definitely be coming back.
Best brunch ever! The food, drinks, and service were all great. I highly recommend the brunch.
Horrible service- 25 mins from sitting down to a drink. Food took forever and server inattentive with too many tables to manage. Food very mediocre.
Great food, and always creative. I'm never disappointed eating there.
Everything was simple and great. Sometimes simple is great than with all the jazz
We are huge fans of Spruce and their entire selection of restaurants. The Saratoga was as special as any of them. It was no surprise the cocktails were creative and yummy!! The barrel aged Negroni was my fav. The food was yummy too.. especially the Parker House Rolls... off the hook. Congratulations Brandon, Tim, Mark et all!
We loved this "old" new restaurant. Establishment was founded over 100 years ago, yet this incarnation has been operating about 3 years. Cocktails were great, food very creative and nicely prepared. The dining room was a bit dark so we older folks required iPhones to read the menu. Definitely will return.
Overrated! Drinks were fantastic though.
Great experience. Amazing service. Super friendly waitress!
Food and drinks were delicious though drinks were on the small side for the price. Upstairs is a better area in which to be seated. Menus is limited but everything is delicious. Easy walk to Great Amer Music Hall.
The menu is so bland, I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend. It is on a corner that is not so nice I am sure you could find a nicer place. We were going to the theater, but it would be worth the time to look around and maybe uber to a restaurant before the show.
Service was pretty sketchy. We got our food, I asked for ketchup for my burger. The person who brought it never came back with the ketchup. Saw the manager, asked for wine list by the glass and ketchup, she brought wines by the bottle list and she said will be back with the ketchup. She never did. My BF at this time was waiting to eat his omelette while we have been waiting for the ketchup. I told him to just go ahead and eat. After 20 mins, I asked the busboy and he brought the ketchup right away. We ordered a glass of wine. The bartender kept forgetting. When he finally remembered, we were done eating, so we cancelled it. I don't know if they were just shorthanded or service is just bad at this place. I would not come back. There are so many restaurants in San Francisco in a better neighborhood with better service.
