We had reservations for 5 pm outside for 6, and we were seated on the side of the building. It was perfect because we had a 4 and an 8 year old. There were other tables with children as well, so perfectly situated. Our server was Cheryl and she was absolutely great. The scallops were great, the soft shell crab was great. The crispy fish sandwich and lobster roll were also delicious. The kids loved their hotdogs. Because the service from the seating to our server was so great, our family get together was wonderful.
The Salt Line fully deserves my Outstanding rating. Each staff member we interacted with was welcoming, efficient and helpful. Great job all! The two of us tried 5 dishes (including appetizer and sides). All five were delicious! Food was well-presented, well-prepared and excellent. Nice setting and location. All-around winner!
Our favorite spot to stop in on a DC bike ride! Superb experience with prompt seating to match my OpenTable request. The Manager also offered to reseat us as he realized our spot may have been just bit too sunny for us! Fantastic service, good food and fun drinks! We'll be back soon!
We went to the Salt Line for Sunday brunch to celebrate my birthday - our waiter was fantastic, the drinks were excellent, and the oysters were delicious. All around a perfect experience!
It would have been perfect brunch had my meal not arrived cold (eggs Benedict)
Despite having a reservation the restaurant wasn’t prepared to give us a table inside on a cold and rainy night. They eventually accommodated us but the waiter while competent was not particularly friendly. The lobster rolls were chewy and over-cooked. It was a milestone birthday celebration and the restaurant was slightly disappointing.
The servers are always amazing here. Knowledgeable about the drinks and food. It makes the dining experience really enjoyable.
What a lovely dinner! It was my grandmothers birthday and the waiter saw the wrapping paper from her present and brought her a birthday suprise
The initial table assigned wasn’t acceptable. Requested a different table that appeared to be an unpleasant request. After personally visiting Host, new table was eventually allowed.
Food was plentiful and great.
Wonderful meal with equally wonderful service!
We were unable to complete our plans because the only parking available was $48!!!! We considered that outrageous so we left and had our oysters at Union Market.
The meal was unrushed and tasty. The service from Chis was pleasant and helpful. Great cocktail and delicious oysters.
So happy to have the soft shell crabs back! They are among my favorite foods and I have been trying them all over town and Saltline’s are the absolute BEST!
Top notch service and high quality food, as always!
Had a great server. Was with a group and she didn’t rush us out after dinner, and even split the check up without asking. Very happy
Love this place...
Lovely outdoor setting, great food and service, but a bit hard on your wallet.
The service was exceptional. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The rocky road dessert was to die for. We loved the suggestions and explanations of the menu items. Waterfront seating. Doesn’t get better than that!
First-time visitor. Booked ahead, so chose indoor, just in case of weather. Turned out to be a beautiful evening, so we were seated by a window and open door. So cozy...felt like we were outside. Food was terrific: Maine Cthulhu Deeps oysters were delicious, especially with a splash of house-made hot sauce. For mains, I had Rockfish Tartare and onion rings. Tartare was outstandingly fresh and flavorful; onion rings crispy and just lightly breaded. Daughter had excellent seared Rockfish and side of delicious brussel sprouts. Gerardo our server was just perfect...informative, prompt but not the least bit invasive.
Bathroom was very clean!
Will definitely be back.
Great location along the Anacostia River. At the bar, everything was ordered and paid for via QR Code On your phone. Very handy once we figured it out.
Great place to eat. I enjoyed it. Me and a few friends visited for the first time.
While the service was very good and the outdoor ambiance very nice on a beautiful spring day, the food was very disappointing and, as a result, high priced for the lack of quality. "Full belly" fried clams were over-fried and meager in number (4?) and size (quite small). The french fries tasted frozen, were limp, and not hot. The onion rings were awful.
Having been to the restaurant in the past, they have done much better. Not up to their old standards.
We'd been there a couple times before, but honestly it didn't live up to prior experiences. The rockfish and black bass were small portions and just average in taste. The orange dessert was bland and the taste was off. The service was great, our server was attentive and informative. Given I've had a couple of other good experiences, I'm going to chalk this up to the challenges of ramping up in the early post-covid period.
We had family down and it was a delicious meal and great service as always!
Fair Service. The waiter spilled beer all over my husband. The food was okay but did not satisfy my taste buds.
Great service, nice venue, some dishes were great, but the fish tendies were gross.
Need to expand menu. The lobster rolls were maine quality
The restaurant must be very well managed because service was excellent. We lunched before a game at Nationals' Park, and that can be a challenge. They served us a very nice meal, promptly, so that it worked out perfectly.
This is so rewarding to read- we do work very hard with our team to make sure our guests have this type of seamless experience so very happy that was your experience and have shared your kind feedback with our entire management team.
We love The Salt Line and dine there often.
Our service yesterday was top notch...our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, she had a fantastic personality, and was very attentive!
Outdoor seating under tent in rain was actually comfortable with heat lamp beside us. Hosts were accommodating to party of 5. Most of us had lobster rolls with butter - excellent and good portion! Bar Drink service was very slow. Only major complaint were with the Ipswich Clams that should never have been served. We ordered two for table and they were not presentable much less edible! Anyone who has had these type of clams knows they are a hearty clam. These were tiny strand with small belly I wish I took a photo! If not been with group where I didn’t want to ruin the festive mood, I would have returned them. I’m very surprised the chef allowed these to leave the kitchen. These were not Ipswich Clams!
Crazy weather night with torrential downpour, thunder and lightning as we sat out on the patio underneath the covered tents which made for an interesting time. The post ball game atmosphere was fun with good food and nice staff even though they were getting drenched as they tried to accommodate the tables. Would love to come back on a sunny day.
They were super sweet and brought out a free desert for the birthday boy. Completely unexpected but definitely put a smile on everyone’s face.
We were within the 15 min late window but they had given away our table.
The decor, atmosphere and service were terrific. The food was very good especially the scallops. The oysters were small but good, some not as plump as others. The Saltline is always a pleasure.
I went last night with two friends. A lovely evening, but the service was terrible. We ordered and paid through the APP at 8:28... at 9:10pm someone came to tell us that two minutes earlier their system had crashed, thus our order was impacted .... therefore only at 9:30 we started to receive our food ... well quite disappointing because the oysters that we had ordered to come as appetizers arrived as dessert ... terrible ! In addition the person who brought the oysters messed up the “order” we were supposed to taste them ... in any event they were tasteless and already detached from the shell (that’s not the way oysters are served !6
finally a manager arrived and offered us a dessert for the confusion without apologizing though ... when I said I was allergic to chocolate he rolled up his eyes ... but was kind enough to bring me some ice cream ... in any event after the mishap I would have expected someone to come and apologize and nobody did It. Other than the oysters that I won’t recommend the rest was ok though on the sweeter side
Food was just ok this time around. Value has been down but I guess these are the new COVID prices.
MBA graduation night. One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Service was not as good as normal, possibly due to graduation crowd and recent restriction changes.
Thank you for the making our experience special.
A lot of construction going on around the area. Good food. Good drinks. Great service. We’d go back.
Great outdoor venue. Outstanding seafood and drinks.
The swordfish was overcooked and the vegetables were undercooked. The brussels sprouts were really good.
