Grear food and service.. we ordered 6 point chicken and ravioli and both were delicious and very well presented. We were also surprised with complimentary apetizer (cauliflower wings) because food took extra time. Highly recommended
The dishes are delicious, the color is attractive, the service is very good, and the distance is safe👍
Date night and we went to Salt. Fabulous food. Lamb was juicy and so tasty. Chicken wings amazing. Excellent service.
It was very disappointing visit, we have eaten here in the past a few times and have enjoyed the food.
This time, the execution of the dishes was poor. Wife ordered Ravioli and it was under cooked. I ordered lamb chops and they were burnt. Truffle fries were soggy unable eat them. Both dishes were poorly executed. And they were not busy.....
Food was great , service was very good . Location is nice and clean kitchen and nice people
food is poorly cooked and not at all tasty. ordered lamb chops and they literally served them burnt to black
This was our first visit to The Salt. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and look forward to going back again.
Outstanding food. Indian inspired, but is suitable for any top notch restaurant. Great cocktails.
This was my first time dining with The Salt and I am totally smitten. I had to give a bit lower score for the ambiance as we were seated outside because it was during Covid. That was the only drawback and still was an incredible dining experience.
I was meeting a girlfriend for a catch up dinner on a week night and I was early. I had brought her a bag with some Cannellini beans and had to use a small gift bag since I only had huge grocery bags. The waiter was super nice and seated me right away and brought us a jug of ice water and bottle of wine. I was reading the menu and noticed he had place a menu with Happy Birthday on her place setting - so cute!
The waiter had recommended the Cauliflower wings so we shared a plate. They were beyond, beyond outstanding. Somehow, sweet and savory, unctuous, and sexy at the same time. There was a goat cheese mousse to accompany which was so unexpectedly creamy and cooling. The presentation was sophisticated, not a pile of veggies and a ramekin of dip. We ate half the plate then remembered we should have taken a photo. Did not.
The entrees were out of this world. I had the Lamb Frites with white truffle. Let me just say this was no ordinary lamb chop. It was coated in a perfectly spicy rub then grilled to a lovely, medium rare: exactly how I requested. There was this sweet, minty and well seasoned mint sauce to accompany along with, (how can you go wrong here), crispy truffle fries.
My friend ordered the 26 point chicken and she absolutely was blown away with the flavor. It was also gorgeous to look at but alas, she did not share. Not even 1 bite!
The staff came over several times checking on our needs and someone, (possibly the owner?) came and thanked us for dining at The Salt during this period of time.
I am running out of characters here but suffice to say, this was an extraordinary dinner and I cannot wait to go back!
Thank you The SALT!
Excellent and imaginative dishes with lovely presentation. Indian spices and flavors in the dishes really were unexpected and delicious! Gracious staff with awesome recommendations. Ambiance was good too, even in the age of Covid; the patio tables are near the parking lot, but there’s good separation and we watched the sunset from our table which was very romantic. The inside decor was modern and chic. We will definitely be back soon to try the rest of the unique menu!
Very good dinner. Very personable staff. Both executive chef and owner came out to meet and speak with us. The chef gave us recommendations that were delicious. Highly recommended.
Thank you for kind words. Appreciation like this is what helping us to keep working hard to survive. Thank You!
The food was really good. Every item included Indian spices and flavors without being overly spicy or hot.
Thank you! Appreciation like this is what helping us to keep working hard to survive. Thank You!
Outstanding pork belly, cauliflower wings and lamb. Incredible flavor and perfect preparation. Disappointed in the naan but everything else was delightful.
Thank you Robert! I did talk to our chef about Naan. I personally tasted it, and yes, some thing was off. I think we found the problem and fixed it. Thanks for the feedback!
Had a thoroughly enjoyable meal to celebrate our anniversary. They had prepared special menus for our party and the wait staff and chef repeatedly came out to check on us and to answer any questions on the food, ingredients, preparation etc. We probably ordered at least half the items on the appetizer and entree menus and there was not one dish that we all did not love.
Looking forward to going back again soon.
Thank You! Appreciation like this is what fueling our energy to keep going. Thank you!
Our new favorite. I love this place so much! Looking forward to more.
Thank you Wendy! We really appreciate the support and love during this difficult times!
The Salt Is the bomb. I have frequented this place before Covid and have always wanted to come for dinner. my father lives nearby and we frequently had lunch before the pandemic which was always phenomenal. The Bento box was delucious - every little last ingredient is perfect so thoughtfully concocted. today we came out to golf and had a 5 o’clock reservation it could not have been a more fantastic dinner phenomenal all the way around. the freshest seafood , wagyu steak. the most fabulous servers who are so knowledgeable incredible cocktails the best pure flavors and presentation is amazing. this place is off the Hozzle. I really wish they would open in Marin. Love love love.
Jane, Thank YOU! A good boost of energy for us during this difficult times!
Wonderful use of Indian spices to create familiar dishes catered to Western/American palate. We had the steamed mussels and pork belly for appetizers; wagyu ribeye steak and scallops/prawns in saffron rice for the main course. Chef Kegan incorporated Indian spices in all those dishes. Service was excellent - staff was friendly and attentive. Of course, there was no ambiance because we were seated outside by the parking lot due to Covid19 but that's beyond their control.
Ruby: Thank You! We are working on the ambience part, and make it a bit more private and comfortable. Hopefully by first week of October we should have improved in this area quite a bit.
Super friendly service d, intentional food and drinks plated well and delicious.
Very Interesting Menu of "fusion" foods. Interestingly spiced foods with Indian flair. Very good service. Chef and owner came to our table to greet us during the meal.
Thanks You Susan!
Amazing food and service
Outdoor dining only since this was July during the pandemic. We got to meet the owner, the chef, the bartender. The menu and food was extraordinary. For small plates we had the mango bruschetta, the cauliflower spears in amazing spices, and the buttermilk fried chicken wings—-all three of these were just outstanding. We split a main dish, the risotto made with the best scallops and prawns with again extraordinary spices. The Cocktails’ menu is off the charts and highly creative and oh so delicious. The entire staff were very cordial and accommodating....
Came here during COVID and staff was very respectful of social distancing. Outdoor tables were well spaced. Staff was very nice and the food was excellent. I had lamb and my date had ribeye, both were very well cooked. Nice cocktails also.
Great food and cocktails along with terrific service and view.
It was our anniversary and we made reservations last minute and they prepared a r wonderful table, with our names on the menu and gave us great attention. The food was creative and delicious especially shrimp and grits! A wonderful experience and we will be back
All the dishes are excessively rich. Sides of green veggies are not on the menu. The wait staff consists of young inexperienced girls.
It is over priced. This is not a top cap
Arrived to our Valentine’s reservation, were seated, and sat for 15 to 20 minutes until anyone approached us. We felt like they were avoiding us so they didn’t have to take on the responsibility of another angry table, as those were the faces of the rest of the diners. Ended up leaving as we heard it was taking the kitchen over an hour to bring out food.
The restaurant was not at all prepared for the Valentine’s Dinner crowd. It took them 15 minutes to take our order and 2.5 hours to serve four courses. The diners around us all seemed disappointed at the poor planning (one customer asked for chili peppers and got the wrong side after waiting 20 minutes for the server to return). All in all, a completely forgettable experience.
Too much butter in one dish and no salt and pepper on the other. We were also rushed into next cource while we were finishing off one. Loved the Dessert and the ambiance. But it was not worth $50 buffet each
The place is casual with a nice bar. Food is good but ion small portion. Service needs to improve. We saw our waitress 2x in 90 minutes we were there. Once, when we ordered our food and next when we ask for the check. Not once did anyone from the establishment asked how’s the food considering this is our first time and their pretty new restaurant.
I recommend just to try once, but not a go to place.
One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to — and I have been to many! Amazing potato chaat, shrimp curry, and garlic naan!! Going back again soon..
This was my second visit to The Salt. The food is always surprising, with flavors combined in new ways, and new flavors to experience. The Tamarind Sour non-alcoholic refresher I tried was outstanding! The top edge of the glass was sprinkled with hot spices - an unusual (for me) but extremely enticing accompaniment to the drink itself. The scallop appetizer was so delicious! I just wish it had had more than 3 small scallops to share with my husband. Both of us enjoyed our main dishes, and were quite full when we finished every bite of our food, but - since we were celebrating Valentine’s Day 2 days early and were up for a feast - we were a bit disappointed not to have been offered a look at a dessert menu; our waitress brought our bill right after taking away our empty dishes.
I will definitely be returning to The Salt to try other dishes that I haven’t sampled yet.
Great evening. It was our first time visiting this restaurant
This was my 4th time dining at The Salt. I keep coming back because the food is creative and delicious from the original cocktails to the delectable desserts. So happy to have this new and imaginative restaurant in our neighborhood.
This was our second time dining at The Salt. We are very happy to have an exceptional restaurant in San Ramon. The food is incredible.
Modern, edgy flavors, truly Indian inspired.
The salmon was amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try another entree from the creative menu.
One of the best Indian Californian American fusion restaurants. The service was outstanding & the food was equality good. We can cardamom lemonade & tamarind sour to drink & both were good. They have a nice non-alcoholic drink selection. We had the onion rings, cauliflower wings & cream of celery for appetizers & they were all good. The cream of celery was incredible. For our main courses we had korma curry, velvet makhani, maharaja rice & garlic naan. Their naan is vegetarian (has no egg). The portions are reasonable. The food is creative & tasty. This is a high end restaurant & it was worth it. The service staff are professional & familiar with ingredients. Parking is in the shopping center. Great to have the owner come by to meet us.
Great food. Very creative Indian-fusion dishes. It seems to be family-run which adds a lot of warmth to the experience. Creative cocktails and nice that they have a few good beers on tap!
This is the second time we have been to the salt. The last time we just had items off the shared and starter menu. This time we ordered off the dinner menu and we're surprised at how small the food quality was. This was noted in other reviews we were had and we experienced it ourselves on this visit. Additionally, the restaurant was about half-full and the food delivery was extremely slow. In fact the waiter came and offered us another glass of wine because everything was taking so long to get out of the kitchen. While the food was fairly good the price the quantity and the wait will mean that we probably will not return.
Although I liked our waitress, she was not very good. Calamari was rubber, Korma was a little too spiced. Naan was the best I've ever had!
Ate there with another couple on New Years eve 2019. Food was very creative, thought they nailed it when it came to american/Indian fusion. Tried 8 different appetizers and entrees and all were very good and well presented. Would definitely eat here again and have already recommended The Salt to other friends in family that live in the Tri-Valley area.
