   I love Saint Austere because they have the best polenta that I have ever tasted. We tried the pasta night this time around and it did not disappoint. I recommend trying all the pasta options and sharing it with a partner. Having a reservation helped tremendously. We were seated almost immediately! The staff was quick, friendly and accommodating. It is a great culinary and dining experience!

   The Saint Austere not only has a distinctive name; this little restaurant in Williamsburg offers well-prepared, reasonably priced & mainly Southern Italian food in a menu of small plates, pasta, and larger plates. Our party of three shared (and enjoyed) everything -- the tagliata, polenta board, pollo tonnato, sunchoke salad, butternut squash, and especially the cavatelli with pork ragu and meatballs, which we liked so much we ordered two portions. The wine list is a bit skimpy (but we enjoyed a good nero d'avola) and there were only 2 desserts available the night we went. I finished my meal with a very nice amaro; we left contented and agreed we'd come back. I recommend reservations, as the Saint Austere is a small space, with only a few tables (raised, wood rectangles with stools) in the rear and more seating at the bar.

   My neighbour recommended this place to me and he wasn't wrong when he said the food was outstanding. Lots of lovely char going on with the octopus and fish dishes. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The pasta was outstanding. Perfect place for a date night or catch up with friends if you can manage to snag yourself a booking. Between the loud rap music and the tall stool seating arrangements it's probably not a place I'd bring anyone over the age of 70. Unless your grandma's more rock n roll than mine.

    The best homemade pasta in Brooklyn! The polenta is life-changing, as is the wine list and the latest menu by their new chef Michael Pirolo. Great reggae and hip-hop playlist plus an art wall featuring Brooklyn artists. Thanks for the charming, fun, delicious meals!
