The Rosebud Ratings and Reviews
Buyer be ware. I checked out the rating and prices on their menu, seemed high end but good looking food. I arranged my birthday dinner with 3 other people and we sat down, had a few drinks and a wonderful meal: thankfully I didn't check the bill in detail before leaving otherwise it would have absolutely ruined my birthday. When the server told us about the specials he neglected to mentioned the price, I wasn't worried because it was a special occasion and we were all chatting and having a good time. Based on the prices on menu for entrees I wasn't concerned . To my HORROR I was filing my slip today and saw my husbands entree for the shank was $110!!!!! It had to be a mistake, I looked again and did the math ... again. Yup $110 for a "special " ... very super special I would say. I am really disgusted that someone would be so devious as to present an entree special and at least not caution you as to the price, it was significantly more than anything else in the menu. I have emailed a complaint in and will wait for a response and will submit that here once received .
This location is in Little Italy & is the original. The place is so quaint!!! Very relaxed & homey atmosphere. Waiter was very informative, knowledgeable & engaging. Meals were all delicious- baked lasagna, veal Parmesan, Steak Marsala & Caesar salad. Ended with a cannoli brought to table with a candle for mom’s birthday!
Lived in Chicago all my life - always heard fabulous things about Rosebud on Taylor, never been there. From the moment we walked in there was a warm friendly atmosphere. Our server, Pat, not only was attentive but added quite a bit of theatrics to the visit as well as some excellent recommendations. Everything we ate, from the oil and fresh warm bread to the delightfully fluffy and scrumptious cannoli- top notch (and then some). Will I go back? Most definitely and hopefully very soon
the menu was very broad and there were seasonal specials to choose from as well. The restaurant gets very crowded so make sure to place a reservation. The service was excellent as was the food. The portion size is huge so there will definitely be leftovers. The only complaint is that they put my date's salad in a to go box when she said she only wanted the pasta, and then proceeded to just throw the pasta away. Would definitely go back for another meal!
Rosebud in Little Italy is in my opinion an experience not to be missed...the food is impeccably cooked, presented and served....I don't care what you order it's the best you have ever had anywhere in the city or USA.....JUST TO DIE FOR!!! CALAMARI IS CRAZY GOOD!
As always, it was outstanding. Patrick was wonderful. He offered an option for our son that made him happy, and making a 6 year old happy can be hard sometimes.
I tried linguine with clam sauce, which I've never had, and he recommended both the traditional style and paired a great wine to compliment it.
Patrick is an asset to the restaurant.
Besides the food, he is what makes our visit great.
I have been visiting Rosebud for years. Food is always terrific. Service attentive. This meal, the waiter forgot to bring the appetizer; barely apologized. I ordered chicken without the bone, got with the bone. It was great, just not what I ordered. The casualness of the mistake bothers me. Will I go back yes. Will I be a more demanding customer, yes.
From the moment we walked in to the time we left we were treated royally. Greeted immediately, our reservation honored. We were walked to our table, seated promptly. Our server, Jay, a longtime employee, told us the water, bread and menus would be arriving shortly. He took our drink order then. Soon he stopped back to describe the specials. He was amazing, very attentive but respectful of our conversations. The bread was warm, fragrant...hard to pass up. Next was the appetizer we ordered, shrimp d’jonge. Flipping outstanding! We never saw huge shrimp like that and the sauce was delicious, not too garlicky or buttery, simply Devine. After a while we ordered the specialty, a perfectly cooked ribeye, very flavorful with a reduction you couldn’t stop eating. The Osso bucco was so tender, served over mushroom risotto. the veal chop parmigiana was butterflied, dressed with cheese, over fresh pasta marinara. Wow! We did not have room for dessert. We were there about 2 hours, great conversation, friendly atmosphere. You’re treated respectfully, it’s a pleasure to be treated so well, and your time there is honored.
A for sure return, can’t wait to try the other specials. We’ve been going there for decades and it has the same authentic feeling of being home in Little Italy.
This was my first time stopping in, and I was very pleased with the meal and the overall vibe in the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly, and he did an excellent job describing the specials. The prices were reasonable, so I will definitely be stopping back in!
Really enjoyed the Rosebud. Our waiter was terrific. Knowledgeable and an expert server. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Husband had the sausage and marinara and I has the mussels with red sauce and linguine. Large portions. We split an ice cream (spumoni) and it was delicious.
The muscles were huge and chewy, the minestrone soup was full of peas, the shrimp Dejeong was breaded, fried and hard. Main courses were pretty good but overall, dissatisfying and very expensive. We don't mind spending a lot of money on good food but this wasn't it.
