The Rosebud Ratings and Reviews
The main problem we had is my girl friend ordered the muscles linguini and every bite was filled with sand. I realize you will get that occasionally with shellfish but it was so overwhelming throughout I gave her my food. For 100$ it was very disappointing.
Was visiting Chicago for the weekend with my boyfriend for our anniversary. Food was incredible, portions were large, wine list was nice. Cool ambiance, can be romantic, but you could also celebrate your birthday there. We got free dessert for our anniversary.
Upon entering the restaurant my group was recognized, greeted by name and seated immediately. The waiter explained the days specials, gave us time to absorb the menu, came back with our drinks. The specials price range from $45 and up, also there were no menus for today's specials. Their regular menu was plentiful but no description of their specials. Otherwise, food was delicious. My party had the steak, ziti, ribs, Italian wedding soup, Caesar salad with anchovies and lasagna.
We visited Rosebud recently for a late night meal after a basketball game. We were warmly received even though only an hour before closing. Our server was very attentive and personable. Two of us had the salmon which was excellent and one had the Chilean Sea Bass and one had lobster ravioli. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I highly recommend The Rosebud Restaurant.
My wife and I haven't been to Rosebud in years. We stopped there after the Blackhawks game and were surprised that are food wasn't as good as we expected. The Calamari was good, but our entries weren't
She had the "Taylor Street" ribs and I had chicken Vesuvio.
I guess we should have went with pasta.
The waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive
My boyfriend and I were happy overall except that we were seated next to large parties and it was difficult for us to talk. I was surprised we were seated there as there were tons of open tables near the back where we were seated and also our reservation was later at 8 and none of the other empty tables were used. Also our table was really busy with traffic, it was close quarters and the space for people to walk in between the tables was tight and very narrow. I found myself moving over every time someone walked by. Every time the waitress come to our table, people had to wait until she was done before they could get by.
Our New Year’s Eve dinner was incredible! My husband and I used to go to Rosebud all the time whenever we lived nearby. Now we make it there about once or twice a year. I almost always have the chicken vesuvio and it’s never disappoints. The other couple we were with and my husband ordered from the specials menu. It was a delicious and amazing night.
Brought visiting family member from Michigan to the best Italian restaurant. Patrick was awesome, as always! We all had the specials. The sea bass was phenomenal! I’m miserable because I had to finish it.
Patrick recommended a great wine to compliment both the sea bass and the lobster risotto.
A wonderful experience, as always.
Recently dined with the family at Rosebud for my wife's birthday. The food and ambiance were very good. Our table was excellent, supposedly the Sinatra table. Our waiter was generally good but neglected either to give us a printed list of the the specials (with prices) or tell us that the specials are significantly more expensive than the rest of the menu. Consequently, one of our party inadvertently ordered a $70 entree which was more than twice as expensive as the rest of the orders. Rosebud needs to get with the times and give out a printed menu for specials or their waiters need to do a better job of informing their customers about the specials and their cost.
We went for dinner with a group that included family and close friends. There were 3 children in our group and the waiter took extra time to explain some of the dishes to them. This was not our first time here and, as always, it was delicious and a memorable experience.
The atmosphere and service were great but the food was just ok.
Appetizers were good, first course soup was good, first course salads were way over dressed,
Four of our ten guests complained that their entrees were not as good as they have had at comparable restaurants and said they might have complained if not at a hosted event.
The deserts were good. The total cost was not bad. We might have been even more disappointed if the price was higher due to the low satisfaction with the entrees.
So some hits and some semi big misses.
