Love the place vibe, and waiter. I probably should of gotten the specials, but I played it safe with the fettuccine Alfredo, which was eh, maybe next time in town I’ll be adventurous
The food was amazing and the service was first class!!! Everything from start to finish was superb and will definitely be recommending. Look forward to visiting Chicago again and dining at The Rosebud
great food excellent service.
the shrimp scampi was excellent.
the veal and the seafood dishes were excellent as well
We had a fantastic experience, the food was out of this world. Our family got an assortment of food from salads, pastas, and chicken. I personally had the Tortellini Carbonara and the stuffed mushrooms. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Our waitress could have not been any more attentive and caring. Great birthday night!
Never disappointed. As a former Chicagoan. The Rosebud is always a must for me and my friends who still work the medical district.
Completely overrated. Prices expensive - would rather go to Wildfire.
My wife and I went into Chicago for an overnight trip on a Tuesday/Wednesday. It was her first time visiting Chicago, and I made sure to put the Rosebud on our "to do" list. It is my favorite Italian restaurant, and I'd previously eaten at another location, but wanted to take her to the original Rosebud on Taylor Street in Little Italy.
I made the reservation for 7:30 and we arrived just after 7pm. We walked in and seating was available, so they sat us right away. Ambiance was great and it was pretty quiet the whole time we were there.
To say in the least, it was an awesome dining experience. Our waiter, Marvin, was excellent, the additional wait staff kept our glasses filled. We didn't go there to hurry through dinner or go in and leave quickly, and I'd say the timing of everything was perfect.
We each had soups- Minestrone for me, Italian White Wedding for her. Both soups were great!
For dinner, I had the Chicken Parmesan (my favorite meal), and it was phenomenal as usual. Two MASSIVE chicken pieces plus a side of pasta for $27- I have yet to find better quality AND pricing. My wife had the Special Short Rib stuffed Tortellini with mashed potatoes/gravy and absolutely loved it.
If you REALLY want to experience the quality of this restaurant, I would recommend planning $35+/person for dinner. It is my favorite Italian restaurant, and my wife's first visit there, so I had no intention of trying to cut corners on the experience just to "save a buck".
Enjoy this awesome restaurant!
Recommended appetizer: Calamari
Recommended soups: Minestrone, Italian White Wedding
Recommended dishes: Chicken Parmesan, Veal Parmesan, Stuffed Short Rib Tortellini
The meal was excellent, the service impeccable. Best veal I've ever had. Can't wait to return.
We've been making the hour drive down from Wisconsin to this location for over 25 years. Food and service are always impeccable! Highly recommended.
Outstanding. Simply put ... the best!!! Food, service, and music.
Amazing service provided by Michael and the food, hands down was amazing and flavorful. Compliments to the chef!!!!!
The food at Rosebud is absolutely delicious! It hasn’t changed in the 30 years I’ve lived here. The service is outstanding as well.
We went at the last minute before a concert and were able to get in at 5:30 on a week night. Great service and food. A little loud but we didn't mind as we figured most of the people that were there were heading to the same show. The only thing we thought would be helpful was descriptions of the meals on the menu. Many were styles of classic Italian meals but unless you know what they are you have to ask a lot of questions. The server was very helpful.
One of the best Italian restaurants we’ve visited.. Gem in Chicago‘s little Italy!! We will definitely visit again.
Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and did not steer us wrong on specials. Mussels appetizers was wonderful as was shrimp dejong. Very large portions & food was delicious. There were 6 people at our table & we had a variety of entrees. Veal parmigiana, veal Marsala, lamb shank special, & ribeye steak was wonderful. Chilean Sea Bass special was outstanding! We would definitely return again.
A classic Italian restaurant. My first time there since 1987 and its still the same if not better. Take the time to head down to Taylor street.
Fabulous food and service 👌
Great food, lots of flavor. I liked how the sauce alone on dishes want where the flavor was, you really had to combine sauce with the food to get full taste, delicious. I felt the app. And main dishes were served close together. I had the lamb chops and the cooking was inconsistent but none were well done which was okay with me and the potatoes were a little rough. The lobster rigatoni was really good though and no issues with it.
Patrick provided excellent service and recommendations. He was very attentive to and tolerant of the 7 year old that accompanied us. The meal was absolutely amazing and we had a very enjoyable time. I will definitely make The Rosebud a return location for future trips.
Been 20years since I visited this Rosebud location. Still Awesome??
overpriced with rude service. food was excellent, but, portions could be cut in half along with the prices. bartender was rude and waiter tried to rush us into ordering. when we wanted to have appetizers first before ordering our entrees, he conveniently forgot about us and we waited too long for the appetizers. there are much better Italian restaurants to go to with less expensive prices and nicer services.
I ordered the veal piccata and I've had better at other restaurants - a little leaner - but the pasta was great and the bread and olive oil was great. The calamari was not great - it was rubbery and much too thick. We all ordered drinks and they were all fantastic and our deserts were terrific as well. I don't get into the City much, but I do hope to get back sometime over the summer.
Amazing food served in an old-school atmosphere.
Great ambiance, great food and great service! Also, it is not too hard to get reservations on a weekday!
We frequently dine at The Rosebud before Blackhawks games. Been here a lot and have never been disappointed. Both the food and old school service are consistently awesome. Not the fanciest place, but very comfortable. Staff is always very cordial and we always appreciate their attention to their customers.
Everything we ordered was excellent especially the pasta. I had a simple papardelle in marinara and it exceeded expectations. The servings are huge so I made 3 meals from 1. Of course the service was great as well. I will definitely be back.
Absolutely the BEST Frutti de Mare ever!! Service was outstanding!
A random Saturday adventure led us to The Rosebud...everything was great!
Food and service exceeded my expectations.
Birthday great service and food
Dinner before Hawks game- enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Large portions of food - service was top notch-
Food was excellent. Will be back there again!
Food was excellent. Pasta is handmade, sauces were delicious. One of the best Italian meals I've had in a long time. Great, fresh cocktail as well. Server was perfect.
My boyfriend and I always come for special occasions! He LOVES the chicken vesuvio. I love the seafood.
The Rosebud was seriously the best Italian food I've ever had (and I lived in Brooklyn for 10 years.) The bar service and maitre'd were great. Our waiter was all business, but you could see other waiters hugging their regular customers and engaging in conversation. My daughter's first authentic Italian food and it was a BIG hit!
Anniversary dinner. It was very good. Yummy food and good atmosphere. Enjoyed our waiter.
The Rosebud is our Special occasion place to replace the one we had when we lived in Michigan. Patrick was outstanding, as always. He asked if we had special plans that required us to leave at at certain time (tickets to a musical) and he was able to accommodate our time frame without feeling rushed. We even had time to enjoy a cappuccino at the end of the meal. Tried something new, the tortellini carbonara and it's making a mushroom lover out of my husband.
We always go here before the black hawks games. This visit was very disappointing. Our waiter was very disengaged with our table. My sister felt that was because we did not have a man at our table. We never received a refill on our drinks; and the worst part was that we watched about seven employees and twenty guests walk by our food for five minutes before it was served to us. We bet on if it would get knocked to the floor or not. I almost wished it would have because eating it after so much exposure was hardly appealing. Oh, the best part of the meal was the $22 butter noodles. Not sure if we will be back.....
Went there before a Hawk's game. Food was excellent, service was great. Staff asked us up front what time we wanted to leave for the game and they did an excellent job of watching the clock for us and making sure everything was timed perfectly.
Eldest daughter birthday by her choice.
