Mussels in spicy red sauce was outstanding. Very generous portion, cooked just right, Great flavor. Both veal dishes were cooked to perfection (this is a meat that is easy to over-cook).
Took my husband here for his birthday because he’s always wanted to go and it did not disappoint. We arrived early and they were able to seat us. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic and there is a lot of it! We took leftovers of everything.
Overall experience was great, but both of us had some stomach pains and think it might have been the calamari. It did taste fresh , so perhaps the salad. Something wasn’t right but I’ll be back just skip those two items
My wife didn’t eat her pasta with muscles. The taste was off and the muscles were quite small.
I had a Mediterranean salad. It was passable, I wouldn’t call it good.
Good service though.
Awesome as always!
Made a reservation to come eat before the Blackhawks game. As usual, wonderful food and service.
Rosebud is an Italian restaurant located on Taylor Street in Chicago, in a neighborhood traditionally known as Little Italy. So, there are numerous Italian restaurants to choose from in the area. The ambiance was nice, lots of dark wood paneling and accents, really nice bar area. However, it is very overpriced. Dinner for two, one glass of wine each, one shared salad, a whitefish entrée and a pasta entrée, one shared dessert. Tab north of $125.00 not including tax and tip. Food was average to pretty good, but there are several other nearby spots where we would have enjoyed dinner for two featuring better food for half the price. Maître d', waiter, bus staff were very friendly, very attentive, excellent all around, but I doubt we'll be back.
Love this place. Classic Italian, always consistently good , and great service .
The food was very fresh and absolutely amazing!
The manager (has think is name was Marco) was the best! He made sure our family had everything we needed- including the perfect table for my elderly parents! He and his staff were so entertaining and made us feel like family. The food was delicious and felt like our grandmothers from Italy made it for us. You can see that the staff loves working there. We can’t wait to go back!
Perfect evening to celebrate our son’s birthday. The food was excellent, the ambiance was cozy and the service was exceptional.
Quiet place, server was extremely helpful and very attentive. Ordered bruschetta , sausage and peppers and calamari for appetizers for the table. The sausage and peppers were delicious but the rest was just ok and not much flavor. Server suggested a the filet which we ordered medium and it was EXTREMELY dry and very overdone. It came with broccoli that was just steamed and served. For the price of this meal I expected so much more not worth it in my opinion, somewhat of a disappointment.
My daughter has Celiac and must be gluten free. We told the waiter and explained her entire order must be gluten free. There was some real wheat pasta in the bottom of her bowl of gluten free pasta . She has been quite sick now for days .
This was a tremendous disappointment and quite disturbing experience
I have been a Rosebud regular for decades and will now be cautious about returning .
Excellent from arrivals to departures. Can’t beat it!
You are treated very special!!
As always, everything was perfect
This is our go to place when we want a great meal. We've been coming to The Rosebud for years and we'll continue for more. The appetizer that was new to us was the scallops, they were amazing even with the $6.00 per piece price tag. They made our Christmas Eve dinner very enjoyable!
Very good as always. food was excellent. service was very good. We every Christmas eve. its a tradition.
We are longtime fans of Rosebuds and went for Christmas Eve at 4:00. We did this same thing last year and it was wonderful!! This year was a bit disappointing. The waiter was overwhelmed and took a long time to take our order. This was problematic because we had 4 brick chicken orders which take time to cook. There were two mistakes in the order and we had to send both plates back. One in particular was distressing because the individual couldn’t have spicy food, specifically asked if the food was spicy, was told it wasn’t, and then it was. The waiter was apologetic and I know it was a tough night for him. The thing is we made the reservations a month in advance and were really looking forward to the evening. I’m not sure we will be back for Christmas Eve again. One positive note—coconut cake was awesome:)
Food was not cooked.
An old classic restaurant with truly great dishes, old school great service, great drinks, we were a party of 8 and they took fabulous care of us n everyone loved their dinner choices.
Rosebud's on Taylor always delivers the best food. The quality of the food is excellent as is the preparation. We ordered seafood pasta with muscles and the seafood and pasta were cooked to perfection. We also ordered filet mignon and it was cooked as ordered and beautifully seasoned.
We are periodic customers of Rosebud's on Taylor and drive almost 40 miles to eat there. We are accustomed to their experienced waiters/waitresses so when we were serviced by one of the newer waiters, it was a good meal but not as excellent as with the experienced, long-term waiters that make it a great evening.
Awesome service and food! Great for any occasion fairly priced.
We had a lovely evening. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Love Chicago and the old landmark restaurants!! Love the older and nostalgic places to eat!
Waiter was rude but overall it's a very good restaurant.
My husband and I were greatly pleased with everything the Rose had to offer. Our server, Jose, went out of his way, offering custom options and quality service. Portions here are huge. We easily could have split an entree. As it was, we took leftovers home and enjoyed an extra meal. Would highly recommend for an authentic Italian experience.
Excellent service and food!!
Always, NEVER disappoints!!
Our waiter was amazing!!!!!
The Rosebud is a must stop if you're traveling through Chicago. Best Italian meal in Chicago. Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely our favorite restaurant in Chicago.
Our food was outstanding, but the service was relatively poor. The waiter was brusk, lacked knowledge of the menu, had poor English, and failed to bring a side item.
Our waiter, Nick was excellent! And the food was fantastic.
Seating and service was Amazing. Food was so Good and more than what any of us could finish. We were able to sit and enjoy conversation without constantly having someone ask if we needed anything and that was Great. Our server was beyond Great.
We were disappointed in the meal overall, went for a true Italian experience and felt very rushed (meal came out immediately after our appetizer and then we were immediately asked if we would like to box our leftovers). Food was good but for the price we should never have felt like we needed to stuff it down and then head out immediately. Were never asked about dessert, went down the street and had another glass of wine and cheesecake there. Disappointing!
This was our absolutely favorite restaurant in Chicago for years. Then “little things” started changing ... Focaccia Bread, was excellent, but no longer available; their Spumoni ice cream was very good always, but has been replaced by a lesser quality product. Staff is excellent, dinners are still very good, and location and ambiance are top rate. Disappointed that corner cutting on relatively low cost items is impacting the overall experience.
The Rosebud provides by far the best Traditional Italian dining experience in Chicago! Such a great variety of dining choices, beautiful dining ambiance, and excellent attentive service. We love going here every chance we can!
The food and service were good, but the place is old and run down and needs a face lift. In fact it was depressing. I was disappointed.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My boyfriend and I got to sit at the Sinatra table because there weren’t many people that night.
Always go here and always get great food and great service! A+
They gave me dessert on the house for my birthday. Great service.
Jose, our Waiter was excellent. Food was outstanding. Italian wedding soup was delicious. 8 finger cavatelli arriabatta wasn’t outstanding.
