Our service and food were excellent. The unique menu choices all looked so good. The highlight was the broccolini lemon pesto spaghetti with pine nuts. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and the smoked shoyu butter added great flavor. Wonderful gem in Venice.
I have been going to The Rose Cafe for 15 years. I have lived in Venice in that time and think the experience here has improved immeasurably. Solid food and very good service. However, as a person who can afford it, I still feel annoyed by the prices always moving up in response to the Googelies and other excuses to charge too much. Places like Chaya probably closed because of too low prices, but I just don’t see the value here. I used to go 1-2 a week, now it’s 1-2 a month maybe.
Service was terrible - inattentive and an attitude. Will not return.
We love The Rose. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a fun vibe and great food, And this visit was no exception. However, the service started off fine and then seemed to completely forget about us. It happens to be after my son woke up and I got him out of the stroller. I don’t know if that was a coincidence or not.
The pasta tasting menu is good. Delicious food. We made a mistake in eating too much bread before the official meal (I mean, they paired the bread with interesting delicious sauce, which tastes like chicken soup. Love it) The whole experience would be better if we were not way too full...
Service was not good at all...food was fair at best... noise level was terrible, couldn't hear others. Would never return.
Food was delicious, but very overpriced. Service was very poor.
Great service, fabulous food...
However, be prepared for the bill.
Rose is no longer a "neighborhood joint."
I appreciate the massive menu, everything was delicious.
However, it has become VERY upscale, especially the prices on the wine list.
Very poor service - especially considering price of food. $50 pizza on the menu! Crazy!
Ten people, two families, magical night
Yummy! Food was great
food and service was great - it's a bit loud so you keep that in mind but it's good venice vibes !
Fantastic Restaurant! Food was delicious, staff were very hospitable. Chef Jason Nern=oni is one of my favorite in the city!
Food was outstanding, wait staff was attentive. Great vibes. Good music. Great drinks.
Service was not great. Staff needs to be retrained?
Fine food and drink. Slightly loud. Seasonal menu was good and fresh.
delicious dinner, the food was very very good. The dessert was terrible, however. New pastry chef please!
The prices are too high for what you get. $35 for a medium size pasta dish seems high. It is tapas style with prices based on full portions. The owners have even shoved off their health care obligation as a surcharge. Spent $50 with tip for two drinks and a cup of coffee. Love the ambiance and location.
Lovely setting and delicious food & drink for a special evening. Service: regularly replaced cutlery and checked in, however both the entrees were delivered simultaneously instead of coursing out with our wine pairing
I still can't figure out how a dinner for 2 people, only ordering 3 dishes to share, with 3 drinks was $170.00. The salads are extremely overpriced. The whole Branzino (it was very small) is overpriced (check out other restaurants in town, it's $10.00 more). The drinks are overpriced. That's how. And, they also add on the % for health care. They served the one hot vegetable dish 10 minutes before they served the Branzino, which meant the hot dish was no longer hot when the only main dish arrived. The overall service seems inexperienced to a good dining experience, just a trail of people placing dishes on your table without thought of why or when, and with no announcement. You may as well hire robots. It will not be my first choice for another meal.
Great food but the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. We had to ask where our server was multiple times because she was MIA the whole night. We bugged her to take our order, bring out dessert, give us the check, etc. Not once did she check on us, she was trash. BUT the bus boys serving us water were great! Our glasses were never empty and they cleared dishes so quickly, wish they got the 100% of the tip instead of the horrible server. I would go again because everything else was great!
Food was small portioned for the price. One dish was mediocre and they removed it from our bill without question. Very loud for my older ears to hear people. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Server was completely absent. The chopped salad and burrata were great.
Place was big but still felt small enough with great service and food was outstanding as well as coffee and power juices
Great place for breakfast but stay away for dinner. The Chef is too eclectic for anyone watching what they eat.
Service was very poor, we had to track down our server to order our food; literally had to wave our arms up in the air to get attention to ask for serving utensils that did not come with our dishes, two busboys ignored our attempt to get their attention, walked right past us. When I finally said really loudly “am I invisible?” The server from the next zone asked how he could help. There was a really long period between second and third course, no one came to check on us or say sorry for the wait. But I’d barely had a chance to sign the bill before our server came to collect the checks.
Some of the food was great and some left a lot to be desired. Considering what we had, the small portion sizes, and a couple items that weren’t very good, the final bill was quite expensive. We did order a great bottle of wine, though so that was a treat!
Good evening.... a bit cold given the weather. Love the service and vibe
My go-to for good friend meet-n-eat occasions. Excellent menu: inventive and delicious. Very cool scene and vibe. Have been patronizing since the old days, when the place was more casual. But the update to the look and menu is solid and I still love meeting people here for special lunches.
Love this restaurant - great food and a nice atmosphere.
It was morning so the noise level was good. I had the avocado toast per my servers suggestion and it was great. I asked if the eggs were fresh and local because I hadn’t seen such orange yolks since I left Italy. The response was yes and they were free range and only fed corn. I love that the staff know about what they are serving as well. Coffee very nice. Server outstanding unfortunately I forgot her name. Overall great experience, I will try to go back in the evening next time.
It was amazing
Service was either absent for a while then when server did come attend and took our drink order tried to rush us on making a dinner choice. We ended up w/two appetizer ( bread, olive oil and chicken liver pate) skipped the meal!
Food isn't worth it! They say their portions are to share. That isn't true. You'd need to orded 5+ items to share.
Wonderful re-discovery of my college favorite!
top 5 favorite restaurants, including international, of all time.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Everything got to us quick and fresh! Will go back!
I dine out regularly, and have worked in the Restaurant business for years. With that being said, the price points for this place are an absolute joke, especially considering all the homeless camps surrounding Rose Venice that you need to walk through if you don't valet park. Service and atmosphere were fine, but honestly, $50 for a piece of Cod with grits? Such a joke, I will never recommend this place to any of my friends or clients.
Very expensive for super small portions, the food is trying to be sophisticated and missed the point by being too flavorful to the point where you can’t taste anything. Pasta was raw instead of aldente.. not our thing !
Food and vibe was very good!
