What Insiders Are Saying
The Venice staple has been turned into an all-day play pen for Venice locals. And we're pretty into it.
I sent a note and asked our waitress about a candle in the dessert for my friend's birthday. I asked the waitress if we order dessert, is she able to bring it out with a candle, which she confirmed yes. When the dessert came out, there was no candle. I had to ask her about it, which created an awkward moment around my friend. She brings out a candle on a plate. I was disappointed with this botched amateur service and surprise, especially when I support Rose a lot.
The food, the ambiance, and the service were great. The prices for the food portions did not match. Pretty overpriced, but we still had a great time. Our party of four met for dinner.
Extremely expensive. Ok dishes. Small sized, even tough they tell you they’re to share.
Love the place, been there many times but tonight the service was really slow- it took forever for our stuff to come. And I feel like we picked the wrong things because the food was a little disappointing. That being said, we will still give it another chance because we have good memories
My fiancé and I decided to check out the dinner experience at The Rose because we loved their breakfast. We were a bit disappointed due to the food being salty and taking a long time to come out. It was a pretty good restaurant, and their service was great, but at that price point, they need to pay a little bit more attention to detail.
Consistently good food and service.
I would if it wasn’t so expensive . Service was spectacular and they really helped to accommodate my disabled son.
Fabulous service, amazing food and excellent value
Very nice evening and meal. Initial greeter was very welcoming and service was excellent inside. Raviolis were eclectic and delicious
Charming door staff, gorgeous dining spaces, excellent and thoughtful food. One of my favs when I visits.
We had a lovely time at the Rose for a late breakfast. I was a little leery after reading some of the negative reviews about the service since great customer service is critical to the success of any business and a must for me to return or recommend a restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was 100% impressed with the service from everyone from the hostess, to the waitstaff to the chef. The only reason I did not give five stars across the board is the table setting and decor was just so so and the seating could be more comfortable. Food was great. Will definitely return.
The best, most innovative food we’ve had for years - and not only creative, but tasty too!
Service was good - not exceptional, but fine.
Great food. Every dish was unique and full of flavor. The chicken was the best I’ve ever had. Also a great atmosphere. Good wine. Loved it!
The food’s great 😊
The servers’ so polite
The place is okay but kind of noisy
I had been here once before and really enjoyed it. Came back two years later and the service was absolutely and unapologetically terrible. We had to wait 20 mins despite a reservation, Our waitress was AWOL-she forgot our drink orders and then never fired them, she never came to take our order, we ordered with a random other waitress who didn’t know anything about the menu, and our small plates then all came at the same time which was super annoying. Food was great but for the price and the fixed service fee it was not worth a visit for a Saturday night. Maybe it’s better during the Week. Def recommend the uni pasta and the grilled figs
It was my 25th birthday and I was going out with a few friends to celebrate. The staff specifically the manager was extremely rude and condescending and made our experience miserable. We ended up leaving due to the way she spoke with us. Really disappointing.
Awesome place great ambiance
It was an intimate setting and a wonderful place to connect with family or friends.
The food was delicious. The server could not be bothered with us. And we ordered cocktails, and appetizers, and an entree, and a dessert. We had to beg for attention every time. It was very disappointing.
Great food, great vibe, great patio scene. It's loud unless you are in the back patio which we were. I will definitely come back.
Teenie tiny servings and wine pours, not one bit of garnish on the tiny plate, just a sandwich, no pickle, no garnish , nothing
Drinks are overpriced at 17+ per drink. Reserved a table for two and was seated at a table of 16 where one person was at the head of the table, my boyriend on the side. It was very uncomfortable to share the table with several other strangers and at an awkward angle. Vibe was such a mood however, very aesthetically pleasing and staff is very friendly and courteous.
It is honestly too loud. Beyond possible to have a reasonable conversation. It is also over priced.
Awesome place for a date and make sure you get the Yellow Tail. Oh and the Açaí cocktail!
Our food was prepared perfectly. The best huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. Our waiter Nicolas was wonderful.
nice ambient, cool place and nice people but extremely expensive for the food you get..
Ian the sommelier was amazing
I was late 5 minutes to my reservation and they refused to give me a table ,back and forth to the manager, then simply they say go to the takeout area ! So rude.
this was a really uneven-mixed review experience.
the location and design and ambiance of this restaurant is fab.
The menu as well is really good. (Although the wine list is totally unnecessarily expensive!)
the service was totally- totally unorganized. mains came first. Appetizers were incomplete.
we were told certain items were sold out for the night - only to have that dish arrive 35 mins later.
The staff were tried their best to work around the errors - and TBH it felt like they were extremely accustomed to these kinds of fiasco.
Our waitress was amazing :) we had her place our order for us and her selection was impressive. It was a business dinner with 2 folks who hadn’t gone to the Rose before and they loved it 😁
Please let he know she did an amazing job.!
we started dinner with the crispy broccoli di Ciccio, which was tasty but stringy and difficult to eat. I struggled with a fork while my friend ate it with his hands. Not a date night dish. We then split the gnocchi dish and the saffron pappardelle. The gnocchi was rubbery and tasteless. The pappardelle was tasty. When the waiter came by at the end of dinner and asked how everything was I mentioned that the gnocchi was rubbery (we only ate half the dish) , he told us we should have sent it back and asked if we would then like a replacement dish. We declined a replacement and he voluntarily removed the gnocchi from the bill. This was my third time in the "new" Rose Café and in none of my visits was I impressed with the food. There are many restaurants in Venice and Santa Monica which are far better in my opinion. So, in summary the food was so-so but the service excellent. The place is very noisy so we had our table moved to the rear outside patio which was less noisy.
Ok and nice setting but not a great menu and poor selection for Vegetarians. Brunch looked better
Great friends meet up place.
Small Shared plates could get a tad pricey for some guests.
Outdoor area is pleasant & bustling.
Being near the coast makes it a Great spot for summer in Cali.
Great ambiance and delicious food. As usual with a “shared plates” restaurant, the server recommends way too much food. Luckily one of the dishes never arrived, but we were still full.
Wine was expensive and mediocre, even with recommendations from the sommelier. Stolpman Sangiovese was served ice cold and did not taste good. Chenin Blanc was put on ice somewhere away from our table and we had to keep asking for it.
Great ambience. Good fresh food, excellent wine list. Super loud though, so go with your biggest voice.
Fantastic farm to table food, wonderful garden ambiance and friendly service
I’ve been to The Rose a few times over the years and have always enjoyed my experience here. This visit stood out in particular, as we came to celebrate my girlfriend’s promotion and I wanted to do something nice for her. I let our waitress know the occasion when I had a moment to speak with her alone and her service was top notch. The main goal was to have a nice drink, some apps, and dessert. But, it caught me off guard when they brought out additional apps on the house to make the night more special. I liked coming to The Rose before, but now I’ll always remember this dinner as a special place to come back to.
Everything about this place was great the service is wonderful the food was fresh and original. Patio is very noisy that’s probably the only downfall but it was really really great
Food was a little bit on the pricier side, but worth every dime! Portion sizes were larger, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. BEAUTIFUL ambiance both inside and out. Would highly recommend this little gem and cannot wait to come back!
