Really nice, food was delicious, will come again!
Tasty food. Good portions. Excellent service. Expensive.
I like the environment and everything over there. I would recommend it for any occasion
Perfect valentines date! Not sure if they had a different set menu for the night but it was delicious! Had the Brussel sprouts, pasta carbonara, the rigatoni. We will be talking about the carbonara for a long time as it was the best I’ve ever had!
Wine sommelier was extremely helpful on choice of wine. Clay, our server, very well informed and top notch.
Great selections.. everything we had was incredible.
A Rose by any other name still stinks. Had to wait a half an hour to be seated with a reservation, which is unacceptable. Our entrees took over an hour to be delivered, which was also unacceptable. They told us they would give us complimentary bread at least, but still charged us for it on the bill. With service like this, I’m surprised this place is still in business.
We have been to The Rose about 7/8 times because it was amazing- with the food, ambiance, service and vibe. It WAS our go to place to bring our friends who were visiting LA. We were just there on Saturday, and it will be the last. 4 adults each ordered a drink about 15 minutes before our order was taken. The server was good, but we received our appetizers and pasta before our first drinks were brought to the table. The waitress said the bar was just really backed up, but that is nuts!!!! the food did not taste anything like it has in the past, it was either bad or just ok. My friend had to send back her food because it smelled like fish even though it was a pasta dish without fish. Brussel sprouts are my favorite there and they were soggy. Overall it just was a bad experience. The checkin had a line out of the door and the placed was packed, so obvi still a scene but the food and service has gone way down.
Great food and drinks! But, even with reservations, we waited 40 mins for our table. Dinner served 45 mins after our appetizers. Server disappeared after our order. Too loud for group conversations. Might be better for date night.
Great decor, great food, great service and great vibes. True farm to table experience. Would come back again.
It would have been nice to have had a more affordable bottle wine selection...The list went from 1 bottle at $70 to everything in the higher price point...
But all in all it was fantastic!!!
Great but needlessly expensive
The food was good but over priced I feel. And it was impossible to hear in the rest which was difficult for a date night.
Unfortunately, this was a disappointment from start to finish. Our waitress had 0 personality and seemed like she did not even want to be there, not once did she check on us, etc.
Furthermore, my $18 arugula salad had mostly arugula and very few other items as stated on the menu. My friends meal wasn’t a lot better.
We did order a wine flight which was tasty and cool, but $101 for lunch was ridiculous.
Both my friend and myself have been to many restaurants, ranging from very nice and pricey, to your average place and obviously do not mind paying for a nice meal, but this was not worth the time or food.
Excellent food. Nice covered patio. Not too expensive for Venice. But it was painfully noisy. So much so, that in certain areas, including the bathrooms, I'm quite sure that they were violating OSHA standards. We asked for a little relief, and we were told that the chef/owner likes the music that loud, and was not interested in speaking to us about it and wouldn't allow the manager to turn the volume down at all. So why exactly are we paying to be here?
Rose Cafe is iconic, the food is exceptional, service the same. We sat on the patio, light and bright. Couldn’t be happier.
Sat in the back at a table for four after waiting 20 minutes despite having a reservation.
We have been to The Rose Venice about 10 times in the past two years, but we will not be going back. Our night started out fine...ordered wine and ordered our complete meal, as requested by our server. We also had a heater next to us as I had requested since my friend and my husband both had some medical concerns and needed the warmth. The first two starters, pastrami potstickers (not great) and cauliflower sprouts (fair) came out fairly quickly and then the long wait for our two pastas and branzino began. At this point our heater was moved without asking us because the table in the corner was cold. After about 30 minutes one of the pasta orders came and we finally got a heater back. We ate the pasta quickly since we were hungry and asked about our other food. After another 20 minutes of waiting two different "wrong" pastas were brought to us. At this point the manager came over and I said it was crazy how messed up things were and suggested we get a "free" glass of wine for our trouble. She then walked away and came back with champagne for us. Who drinks champagne in the middle of dinner? Anyway, the Branzino finally came and we paid $10 for bread since we were so hungry. We just canceled the final pasta. We were brought two desserts, both very average. So after two hours we left hungry and still had a large dinner bill. We were so VERY disappointed in the service, food and attitude of the staff. Anyway, many others have had great meals so good luck if you want to try it.
Great ambiance - pretty setting - our server was pushy and not very helpful. Single glasses of white wine were $18-20.. very pricey as was most of the menu . The octopus was mushy . The pork shoulder very tasty - main dishes were 30-60 - felt very expensive for what it was . Very meat-centric in the main categories -Would love to come back if the menu had more price friendly options . A Sunday night- casual dinner for 3 people was 100 per person.. too high.
Great food, drinks and friendly service. My one complaint is that they seated us 25 minutes after our actual reservation time and we had to follow up a few times to be seated.
Great birthday, and another great night at The Rose. The pastrami dumplings, the burrata with kumquats, and the oxtail gnocchi were standouts. This is my favorite place in LA.
Food was excellent. Only issue was their inability/reluctance to adjust dishes for our one vegetarian diner. While we agreed with our server that the meat element of each dish was important to the flavor, we were surprised at the lack of strictly vegetarian choices available.
Our service and food were excellent. The unique menu choices all looked so good. The highlight was the broccolini lemon pesto spaghetti with pine nuts. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and the smoked shoyu butter added great flavor. Wonderful gem in Venice.
I have been going to The Rose Cafe for 15 years. I have lived in Venice in that time and think the experience here has improved immeasurably. Solid food and very good service. However, as a person who can afford it, I still feel annoyed by the prices always moving up in response to the Googelies and other excuses to charge too much. Places like Chaya probably closed because of too low prices, but I just don’t see the value here. I used to go 1-2 a week, now it’s 1-2 a month maybe.
Service was terrible - inattentive and an attitude. Will not return.
We love The Rose. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a fun vibe and great food, And this visit was no exception. However, the service started off fine and then seemed to completely forget about us. It happens to be after my son woke up and I got him out of the stroller. I don’t know if that was a coincidence or not.
The pasta tasting menu is good. Delicious food. We made a mistake in eating too much bread before the official meal (I mean, they paired the bread with interesting delicious sauce, which tastes like chicken soup. Love it) The whole experience would be better if we were not way too full...
Service was not good at all...food was fair at best... noise level was terrible, couldn't hear others. Would never return.
Food was delicious, but very overpriced. Service was very poor.
Great service, fabulous food...
However, be prepared for the bill.
Rose is no longer a "neighborhood joint."
I appreciate the massive menu, everything was delicious.
However, it has become VERY upscale, especially the prices on the wine list.
Very poor service - especially considering price of food. $50 pizza on the menu! Crazy!
Ten people, two families, magical night
Yummy! Food was great
food and service was great - it's a bit loud so you keep that in mind but it's good venice vibes !
Fantastic Restaurant! Food was delicious, staff were very hospitable. Chef Jason Nern=oni is one of my favorite in the city!
Food was outstanding, wait staff was attentive. Great vibes. Good music. Great drinks.
Service was not great. Staff needs to be retrained?
Fine food and drink. Slightly loud. Seasonal menu was good and fresh.
delicious dinner, the food was very very good. The dessert was terrible, however. New pastry chef please!
The prices are too high for what you get. $35 for a medium size pasta dish seems high. It is tapas style with prices based on full portions. The owners have even shoved off their health care obligation as a surcharge. Spent $50 with tip for two drinks and a cup of coffee. Love the ambiance and location.
