What Insiders Are Saying
The Venice staple has been turned into an all-day play pen for Venice locals. And we're pretty into it.
Foods are really 👌🏽
The food was unique and tasty. Desserts were delicious.
Great location, service, and food. Interesting and healthy food choices.
If you’re looking for amazing food and service not fancy seating than it’s just a great spot!
The prices are definitely a little high for small plate style dining... BUT one of the most memorable, beautifully executed, innovative meals I have ever had. Still dreaming about the beef tartare and those sweet potatoes with black sesame... OMG. A lot of restaurants try to create inventive dishes. Few of them knock it out of the park like Rose.
We went for dinner. It was great for family style eating and the sommeliers there are fantastic. The best recommendations and pairings. All of the food was delicious and the portions are the perfect size. We finished everything. Make a reservation if you can. It was super packed especially for a Tuesday. I would definitely go back!
LOVEEEE this spot. LA boho-retro-funk vibe. The food is simply amazing. I enjoyed the Rock Fish tacos, highly recommend. Staff was super-friendly, cool, and authentic. All around awesome spot. You cannot go wrong.
Spent the whole day knocking out business meetings. It was excellent place for that.
Very interesting variety of food selections from which to choose. Something for everyone. Great service and very pleasant outdoor seating area. All in all, a top notch dining experience. Except: charging $14 for 2 hours parking is obscene. Get there early to try to find street parking.
We have been here many times since Rose Cafe opened, but I think the attitude has changed. Our waitress was very nice, but the managers were not. The music was so loud we had to shout across the table to hear each other, and managers were dismissive when we asked if the music could be lowered. Market salad lettuces were not washed properly (dirt), but the pastas were delicious as usual. Overall, it feels like the place has become the Google Club, which is not my scene. I will miss the food, but it's hard to enjoy the taste when the ambience is so unpalatable.
Celebrated my birthday at the Rose Cafe. The ambience was beautiful. The scene was hip & stylish. The music was pumping. Service was ok but not necessarily attentive. The Food came out and several in my party noted how their food was salty. My jidori chicken was ok... there certainly was a litany of flavors of sauces and veggies on the side but the chicken itself not too flavorful. I was disappointed in the toughness of the hush puppies too. Bottom line is that it was Too much $ for the food. If I go back, it will be for brunch or drinks only.
I've dined here many times and love it. The food as always was great, but unfortunately the overall experience was dampened by the fact that we were seated an hour and a half later than our reservation. The host kept telling me they were a bit backed up and that we'd be seated soon. I went up to check three times, and on the third time, they gave us a glass of bubbles on the house. I think after such a long wait though, more compensation was in order.
We had the best waiter most of all! The food was delicious
Food was great, little drafty outside at nite.
Need way more vegan options
Met a friend here from the east coast and requested outside table since it was winter and freezing from where she was from. We were there for 3 hours and our server was amazing-super attentive and encouraged us to stay as long as he was there, which was another few hours (haha). He also recommended items to order and we shared them (brussel sprouts, Coleman salad and the two rockfish tacos) and everything was delicious. We kept refilling our hot water for our tea and enjoyed our afternoon. And I forgot to mention the man who kept refilling our water glasses and checking in with us-he was great, too).
We brought a special bottle of Proseco for my friends birthday. They were going to charge us $60 for a
corsage fee because it was a big bottler. Outrageous. It's $35 for a regular sized bottle; still higher than any place I've been.
Food was delicious, but very pricey. We shared small plates and left hungry. My first and last time there for dinner. If you're over 50, forget it. It's all millennial there.
Exciting, celebrity sighting! Had 4 dishes, 3 outstanding and one a bit of a stretch, but interesting. Fun and lively crowd, friendly service.
The Smoked Radiatore Carbonara is DELICIOUS. The sauce itself is good enough to sell on it's own. Need some bread to finish up all the sauce once the pasta is done. Love having this place nearby.
Went to Rose for breakfast. Absolutely loved it, so thought we would go back to try dinner. Was not as impressed. Everything was very salty and nothing memorable except that hanger steak that was overdone and tough as leather. Try breakfast first. Those lattes, fresh juice, egg white omelette with turkey sausage, baby spinach and sautéed yam, and brioche French toast that we shared were amazing.
Great food. Great ambiance! Great service! Had a fun night with people visiting from Mallorca.
High prices, very poor service and the wait person was more concerned about her closing the check and bailing than the guests; this is rude and crude and without graciousness.
First stop after arriving from LAX, luggage and all! We made reservations ahead of time, and got seated right away when we arrived. The restaurant and patio absolutely gorgeous! Wait staff was very attentive and the drinks were some of the best I had in LA all weekend! If you love mezcal you must try Black Sails. Perfection! We can't wait to come back!
The Rose is my daughter’s favorite place in her area and she has been looking forward to taking me there. She is a real foodie and works in media specifically dealing with food and travel, so she knows great food.
I had her order for the table and we started with the yellowfin Crudo and the chicken liver mousse. Both were outstanding. She was careful to cut the bread for the mousse into small pieces, but we still ran out of bread, so I just ate a few forkfuls with some onion marmalade. It was great. Then we had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. If we had spoons we would have dipped into the jalapeño-dashi broth. We finished up with the smoked Bucatini Carbonara. It was incredible. There were three of us and we were very satisfied with our meal.
Next time I’m out for a visit, we will definitely be going back to Rose Cafe.
Great food …and outstanding service! Can’t wait to go back!
Manager rude, service sucked and we got sick afterward
Always love the changing menu! Pasta is a classic. Service this time around was sort of slow, but still love Rose Cafe and will definitely come back!
Despite early made online reservation we were seated in the furthest away corner near a backdoor on the outside patio. Weather was windy and very cool but the patio heater wasn’t on. After requesting to have it switched on waiter said he would get someone to do that. it took another reminder and at least 30 minutes to get someone to come switch it on. heater apparently was low gas and stopped working after about half an hour. Someone came and rolled it away and we were never given an apology or explanation. In short experience was too cold and staff not very attentive to our basic needs.
Service failed to mention this was a family style restaurant. Entrees came out before the drinks. One entree arrived 30 minutes after the entire party was done eating. Server did not apologize, manager was rude and announced scattered service is due to family style restaurant. Did not make it a special night for 8 out of towners celebrating a milestone birthday. No dessert, merely even an acknowledgement. Disappointing overall.
The server wasn’t good or knew about the menus well, and everything was as a joke to him
There’s something for everyone at this restaurant. Food is consistently good. I only wish it was closer to where we live. Otherwise this would be a our regular place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
All was great at the restaurant but the parking was a bad experience. They offer one hour free parking and charged us $10 for parking because we were three minutes past the one hour mark. Terrible customer service at the valet
Great food, although we had to wait 20 minutes after our reservation time. Had asked for a table outside, but were unfortunately unable to be accommodated. Good drinks, nice service. Overall, quality experience
Our meal was interrupted by the constant expletives of the person at the next table-- f*n great this, f*n that, and so with the late 20's & early 30's crowd that may be super cool, but for those of us wanting to wind down after a day full of work, it did not create a decent or respectable ambience. The restaurant is on the pricey side, and simply put, I am a minimalist when it comes to food, and the dishes here are complex, and not my style. Perfect place for the young professionals. The service was excellent.
The noise level made it impossible to hear the waiter or to have a conversation with my friends. My husband is vegetarian and, from what I could see, even most of the salads had meat, so the choice was very limited. I will not be going to Rose again, not will I recommend it to friends ( or foes).
It was my Birthday. I’ve eaten here many times but this evening the reservation was an hour late.
We felt the portions were small and overpriced. We really thought the food was not very good either.
We had excellent service and the food was great
