The cornerstone of our bar program is American Whiskey, particularly Bourbon and Rye. For those with different tastes, we also focus on craft Midwestern Breweries. With a large outdoor patio, two different private event spaces and a large sit-down bar, The Rookery can accommodate Chicago's four seasons of food and drink.
The ambiance is wonderful - fancy but with a big Lebowski theme. However - no White Russians on the menu. Which makes no sense. The food was pretty poor. Just basic bar food, for an upscale food price. They were out of many things on a Saturday at 6pm (wasn’t busy) and failed to warn us one of our orders was only partially plated due to missing an ingredient. Would go back, but only for drinks.
It took over 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. They only had 1 server for the entire restaurant during brunch. They were out of everything we asked for. Food was bland and mediocre. Avocado toast was completely burnt. We won’t come back.
They forgot a lot of food with each persons meal and didn’t put an order in. A good value for food though
I didn’t eat just drinks but unfortunately I didn’t have a N/A option. That being said I could not give it an unfavorable rating because the entire experience was wonderful. Drink we’re delicious, ambience was enjoyable, and the service was top notch. Our server was kind enough to get us into The Dude’s Abode (Big Lebowski pop up bar) which is a must visit for any Lebowski aficionado
Great food and service. Fried dessert sort of tasted like French fries.
Food was good but lacked flavor. Wait service was inattentive, but bar staff were excellent, especially Bryn! Great atmosphere and very cozy by the fireside.
Average experience - The place was dead at 9pm on a Thursday and the buffalo cauliflower was not good. Otherwise, average.
I was a little disappointed. There really isn't a lot to chose from the menu. It was not crowded at all but it took long to get a drink. Then ordered goat cheese selection for an appetizer and that took very long to get it to the table. Overall the staff were friendly but can't say its a place I would return to.
I specifically went for the Rhiannon Pop Up bar. Advertised as free tarot card reader but it actually was $15. She was terrible, very fake and a waste of money. It would have been very cool if you actually had a professional tarot card reader there. Drinks were cool but very pricey.
Really enjoyed date night dinner at the Rookery! We arrived in time for Happy Hour, ate a tasty and reasonably priced meal and were well-attended to by all staff members. The cocktails were nice and boozy 👌
We had a wonderful experience. We needed to add 3 people to our reservation at the last minute and the customer service we received was excellent. Every loved the beers, cocktails, and their meals. Highly recommend!
Great food! We ordered the fish and chips and fried chicken sandwich with Brussels sprouts the side. Fish was delicious. Chicken sandwich was HUGE and also tasty. Brussel sprouts were just okay... nothing fancy. Service was great and the ambiance was casual and cool.
Atmosphere was great. Music was great. The rhiannon pop up was perfect. Food was good and service was prompt. Could not have been better
Loved this spot! I went here with a friend while out in West Town and it was ideal for an outdoor, casual environment. They were running a drink special where benefits went to help separated families - awesome!
I have been here twice for brunch on the patio and it's been great both times. This time I had the black bean breakfast option and it was great. The patio is perfect and $4 mimosas/bellinis are always a hit. Will definitely come back for brunching! (and the pop up Fleetwood Mac bar upstairs...I can't wait for that!)
I like the outside area. It was great to spend time outside in the nice weather.
Netting with out of town family
They had no non-dairy milk options, and the food was just average. The fruit bowl was mostly cantaloupe and honeydew.
Food was good but service was pretty slow overall. Thirty minutes for our drinks. Were warned the food would take some time so no worries there, but thirty for drinks was a bit much.
I’ve been to this local neighborhood spot twice in a week now- hoping my first experience was a fluke. It wasn’t. Awful and rude service. Unapologetically slow. Two separate occasions two different waitresses forgot to put our orders in. Management was equally as unapologetic.
Sunday brunch was great! and the hostess (which I think was the owner) was INCREDIBLY nice with us (even with two noisy kids!). Food was good, service very nice, and cool atmosphere.
Understaffed, awful service. Management and waitstaff took NO steps to communicate the shortage with diners or to apologize for the unbelievable wait, instead they rushed past us. Got 1 drink in the hour and a half we were there. The kicker was that they were STILL accepting online orders despite the fact the restaurant was full of waiting customers. Canceled our order and left.
Got together with a group of girlfriends to eat dinner at The Rookery and then go to the Fleetwood Mac pop up upstairs. We loved it! The food was great and the outdoor seating area was fantastic. I was surprised it wasn't packed. We really liked the bird-themed decor as well. The Fleetwood Mac pop up was wonderful and just what I needed. Will definitely be going back!
First time here. Really enjoyed our dinner and had fun playing trivia! Food was excellent and our server was awesome. We will return on our next visit!
+-the menu is not the same as their web menu so trying to decide on our choices was a little confusing. since the restaurant is a little loud we had to tell our server that we needed all of the table to hear the presentation and to hear every ones questions. I also had to find him to pay the bill.
The food on the other hand was very good and plentiful. The cheese for the pretzels was delicious but too thick to put on the soft pretzel.
both the Reuben and the pork belly sandwiches were excellent
Food was great. 4 people ate and drank plus two appetizers for less than $150. Fireplace was nice, too. Waitress was very nice and attentive.
Wee loved it... would go back
The Rookery was great for our group. The service and food were both fantastic, and the overall ambiance was nice even though it was a holiday. I'll definitely bring another group there to try some of the other menu items.
We went for brunch and stayed for brunch. It was a good brunch
Great place , staff and food!
Horrible overall experience and customer service that started from the moment my party walked in. We live in the area and was looking to support a local restaurant that appeared to be kid-friendly since they have a specific kid menu. The hostess was extremely rude about our seating time and was giving us attitude that we were a few minutes early. Our food order was deliberately put in after another large party sat down after us and waitress was also very rude about this. Will never go back and will tell friends/neighbors not to either.
It was great!
First time in. It was good food, and I liked the way the place was set up. It was pretty slow this morning but made for quick service.
Food was great, but place was a bit drafty. Would be back in the warmer months though as it's got a great vibe.
We came here for a Saturday brunch with a big group and it turned out to be a gorgeous October day so we got to sit out on the patio. This place is adorable and all the staff we so friendly. I had a great bloody and we shared a few cinnamon rolls for the table to start. My friend and I were feeling lunch so we split the fish and chips and the black bean burger. I wouldn't normally choose a bb burger but saw someone else order it and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. Also - we had a 1 year old with us and it's kid friendly (kids menu, high chairs). So glad I finally got to try this place!
The service was great love their craft cocktails, my favorite is the Marmor Falcon. The chicken tortilla soup was delicious . Will definitely be back.
The patio at Rookery is awesome! Large and comfortable and good for groups if you get there early.
The food is good, not great but tasty. The service was slow, confused, cumbersome. We had to ask multiple times for coffee refills and our waitress clearly had too many tables - it looked like she was trying to man both the inside and outside so was not able to provide anything close to service.
Cute patio, decent food, awesome mimosa deal, poor service (our waitress had an attitude) I would definitely come back, everyone has off days
The steak salad, grilled cheese and brussel sprouts were all really good. We sat outside and it was very pleasant. We went there before a concert at the UC. I would highly recommend this restaurant for that purpose. Good food at reasonable prices.
Everybody else was sitting outside so we had the place to ourselves. Good food, perfect portions, funky decor. We really enjoyed it.
Stopped here before a hawks game. Very easy drive to United center from here. My wife and I got two appetizers, bacon hush puppies and chili shrimp, both very good. We also had the warm squash salad that was delicious! Beer and wine selections were good. We will go back.
