The Rock Wood Fired Pizza - Renton
We opened our doors in 1995 as a gritty, local pizza joint in Tacoma with gourmet pizzas, special microbrews and Rocktails, and a unique atmosphere that quickly gained recognition as a venue for everyone. After 20 years of business, we are proud to have numerous locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Texas.
Well, depends. Maybe for a small group (4 or less) but not for more than 5 people. We asked for a table and had 7 people and they had all 7 adults shoved into a booth for 6 people. We did not even have enough room move much less eat. After about 10 requests, they finally moved 2 tables and then it was ok. We should not have had to beg to get seated in a proper seating place for 7 people. Will go where we can sit comfortably next time.
I was visiting from California but my nephew and son mentioned they had been there before and the reviews were still good! I loved the garlic bread with brown sugar!!! I had the pear walnut salad and it was fantastic!
The noise level is very high, making it difficult to hold a conversation. Pizza was very tasty. Service was slow.. little things like having to ask for ice in drinks was irritating
Went with a group of friends this weekend and had a terrible experience. The server accidentally dumped another table’s open container of cheese dip in my friend’s open backpack. It was literally covering everything in her backpack and he just handed her a rag and walked away and continued to ignore us and serve other tables. Didn’t apologize and didn’t help clean up the mess everywhere. When another server came up to drop off plates at our table we told her what happened and she went and got the manager. Manager gave my friend more towels to clean her stuff with and offered to comp her meal and pay for dry cleaning for the bag. Original server then delivered my friend her full bill not comped. Other bills at the table had mixed up orders from across the group. Had to go get the manager to get my friends meal comped as promised. Overall very poor experience though we appreciated the manager comping the meal and paying for cleaning the bag. In addition the pizza was mediocre and the drinks were terrible.
Pizza was so yummy and my bucket too! I highly recommend.
Authentic stone oven cooked pizza. The kids meals are a lot
Normally it's a good experience, but this time around was not. We ordered a kids cheeseburger and regular bacon cheeseburger, all plain. The kids meal was fine, but the bacon burger came out with all of the toppings on it and. O bacon, so we asked for it to be fixed. The waitress offered to scrape the sauce off and bring a side of bacon...what a joke! No we want yo remade. The new burger never came back, my daughter was finished eating
and the new bacon burger never came. We left after that and went somewhere else so my husband could eat. Very disappointing!
Made a reservation, was seated promptly. Get to the table waitress comes and takes the drink order. Waited a while for drinks to be delivered and refills took forever. We order our apps and pizza all at once. First the mozzarella bread sticks came, they were okay. ( not what we expected ) the after we finish the bread stick she says let me check on your other app. Then brings our other app chips and dip. Chips where stale and some were soggy. Then our pizza came after the waitress stated the kids meals should arrive before the pizzas. Pizza was good, but definitely not worth the dollar amount they charge. We had to ask for our kids meals then also ask for the drinks for the kids too. Overall it’s was okay.
Went to a reliable location after leaving another location because of the WA state liquor laws about minors. Rock Wood Fire Pizza comes thru.
Decided to come here on Fathers Day - ordered food for my daughters bc we were waiting for the rest of our party. Food took forever, finally had to ask and they came right back with it and it was clear by the dried out bread the food had been sitting in the window for a long time. We didn't get napkins or silverware either. Sadly, the other part of our group didn't end up joining us so that was annoying as well.
When asked if the food was ok I said no and explained why. Manager came by and I told him the same and asked if we wanted it right, by this time I'm over it and just want the check. Another 15-20mins goes by and get my bill and they took off the girls meals which was nice but still a truly regrettable time.
The wait staff was so friendly and helpful. She was very patient with my children even going above and beyond by getting them some small pieces of dough to play with while we waited for our food. We enjoyed the food and the beverages. We will be returning again.
The food was HORRIBLE! The Brussels sprouts were barely cooked and nasty sauce! The salad was a joke. 2 pieces of chicken in a 1/2 salad and hardly any of the other ingredients. Very small portion. Worst salad I have ever had! Caparese appetizer was gross. Tomatoes were old and 4 slices yet 2basil leaves for entire app....? I would NEVER GO BACK!
We made our reservation at the last minute when staying overnight in Renton. Our server and the food were very good. We sat in the bar area which was a little quieter than the large restaurant area.
Terrific restaurant to take the family or hangout with friends. Service is always friendly and food keeps us eating too much!
With kids-great server! Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx50 timesxxxxxxxxx
The food was good but received poor customer service. I’m not sure if someone called off but there only seemed to be one waiter. She was nice but she was the only waiter for 5 or 6 tables.
We went in for a date night close to home. We enjoyed the pizza and especially the crust! The half salad was on the smaller side. The manager went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience.
Our server was friendly at first then forgot our drinks, I said no to the play pizza dough for my children and she brought it anyway. Our appetizer was delicious, but cold. Our water was never refilled and she ignored 4 requests for the check, we finally got it and then she rang the wrong bill on our card. She came back with an attitude and tried to SNATCH my credit card out of my hand. Food was great, service on this particular day was TRASH.
We were there on a Sunday around 130. Very quiet. Not many patrons. But the service was slow. Several employees standing around as we waited to be acknowledged. Food was ok. I’ve been to this location before and food and service was better. I’ll consider this a one off.
Always seems to be understaffed. No one greeting for over 5 minutes, then another 20 min before we had to track down a server. Then our order for 7 took another 30 min so we were there an hour before we got our food. Seems to be the norm as this is the third time I’ve come in a year and it’s been super slow. Food is always good however.
Great food, really loud
It was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Service was good, but pretty slow for how few people were in the restaurant.
Absolutely terrible. It was a birthday dinner and the food wasn’t right, it came out in waves and the birthday girl got her food last and it was cold. Extremely disappointed. We couldn’t get drinks refilled and when we asked for something the girl got irritated and just stopped checking on us. We had 15 very unhappy people.
The service was decent. The food was very good and was served hot. I appreciate that they accept reservations. There are usually 6 to 10 people in our group and not having to wait for a table is great.
It's definitely notnthe best pizza I've ever had. The bucket drinks are nice but I've never been fully satisfied with their food menu.
Food at The Rock is always delicious but be prepared to wait. We had a 7:15pm reservation and were not sat until 7:35. The service was very slow and our server was not super friendly. You can't beat the Garlic Mozz Bread or the Crazy Train Pizza. They are our favorites.
My Mac & Cheese w/Meatballs was great. Her burger and fries were blah. Drinks were great and our service was outstanding.
Our waitress was outstanding, food was good. We were a large party, with a reservation, celebrating a coworkers' achievement. Only problem was they asked us to leave when another large party arrived, because they needed the space. Mind you we were still ordering drinks at the time. So we tipped our waitress generously, and took our business elsewhere.
Waiter was friendly, attentive and did an excellent job ... it seemed like he was suffering from a slow kitchen and his duties spreading him too thin for a party of 8 though.
This was a birthday celebration, the service was good at the beginning but we had to ask 3 times for water before we actually got it. The pizzas were just ok. Overall the entire dinner was a bit overpriced. When we got the check it was not an itemized check just the total which I found out after we'd left. This was my daughters choice but I would think twice about coming again.
Lots of open tables, but had to wait to be seated for some reason. Not sure what the point of a reservation was when we had to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time to get a table. The staff didn't seem to realize I had a reservation even though I told them upon checking in.
Very loud music playing inside. Not great for families or if you want to be able to carry on a conversation.
Loud. Crowded 6 adults (with a reservation) into a booth. The bench cushion was busted so we pretty much sat in each other's laps. It was ok, but I've paid less and had better.
We were visiting from out of town and ventured to the Landings for dinner. This was our first time in The Rock and we loved it! The menu had a lot of variety. The atmosphere was great! Our server for the evening was AMAZING!!
To noisy. Way to loud I would of loved to enjoy my conversations at the table but due to the noise I wasn't able. That would keep me from returning.
Loud, non conducive for an important business meeting.
Quality of food - fair. Presentation - good. Service - fair
We chose Th Rock because of the wide variety of food choices beyond the delicious pizza.
Terrible service as far as food service. The food was left on the warming counter too long so the food was dry and over cooked. The waitress was slammed and we were out of water most of the dinner and she was no where in sight.
Service appeared to be lacking, several tables had issues, one waited 80 minutes for their pizza. We ordered nacho app. but received our entrees first, then asked what happened to nachos, they seemed to not know. The manager comped our nachos, and apologized. Would say to them, if you know Friday, Saturday nights are slammed, staff for it and be ready. Other than that it has always been a go to place for us. :)
This place is always a great time. Perfect location (the patio for people watching is the bomb), cool crowd, great food and drinks. Easy pick for location to meets friends.
Though they had no record of our OpenTable reservation they were quick to get us seated.
