The Rock Lodge
thyme scented Jus
Wagyu Beef Burger
candied bacon, emmenthal, crispy salad
Marinated Chargrilled Vegetables
Starters came out with the mains. But food was lovely.
Really nice restaurant, lovely big portions on the Sunday roast
Lacking atmosphere upstairs and despite asking twice the lights were not dimmed. Limited menu for a vegetarian, other dishes unavailable.
Strict Covid rules in place which was good, however the attitude of the ‘security lady’ wasn’t pleasant.
Last orders at 9pm for 10pm close was a little early.
Food was ok, nothing special.
Online ordering was confusing at first, and destroys any customer service, though the girls who served food were really friendly.
Luckily it wasn’t over priced, so not all bad!
Lovely food, very helpful staff.
Booked a table for 6 people & 1 dog Saturday evening,We were very well looked after. The decor & ambience was great as was the food. Our dog also enjoyed a generous bowl of chicken!!!! Would definitely recommend & will definitely revisit when back in whitstable.
Amazing Sunday Roast ! The best in town. We are back next week x
Good food, friendly staff, excellent value for money.
Good meal. Everyone had a good time. Food well prepared
A lovely family meal, with our dog.
Bit disappointed that Mussels weren't on the menu that evening.
Our dog was made to feel very welcome, and was even given her own chicken meal ( lovely gesture )
Amazing atmosphere, and even more amazing attentive bar staff.
Would definitely recommend The Rock Lodge.
The roast dinners were amazing massive portions and yummy food the ambience is really lovely looking forward to dining in here again very soon!
Excellent place, Sunday roast was amazing. Will be visiting again soon.
Was a really friendly place, we had a really nice relaxed evening. Would go again.
Great service and food.
Surprisingly great and good value for money.
Loved this place .. food and service great . Lovely friendly staff and great music would definitely recommend. 😊😊
Service ok , staff could do with being a bit happier, but ok
Food fantastic, especially the roast😊staff very helpful and friendly..lovely relaxed atmosphere 👍would definitely recommend
Went here on a Saturday evening with 6 friends - obviously at the moment there aren't many restaurants that will sit a table of six together, so this was our main reason for choosing the Rock Lodge.
The pictures of the restaurant also looked very inviting and reminiscent of an Alpine ski lodge - unfortunately, we were sat on the ground floor at a window table - my choice as the alternative was downstairs and the temperatures that weekend were in the 30s - but I believe - that is where you would get the real 'Alpine Ski Lodge' feel.
Sadly, there wasn't any live music due to Covid - we knew this before we went, but I imagine that really brings the place alive!
Overall, the food was good - 3 of us had 'Catch of the Day' which was mackerel - delicious, but disappointing rose wine. The staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating.
Great customer service, very attentive and helpful.. food was ok. Burger bun was too small for the burger and salad. But it tasted nice, good portions too.
Clean, tables sanitised after customers left. Good music not too loud. Nice
Most helpful and friendly staff
Nothing too much trouble
Thanks we will be back
Superb Sunday lunch. Friendly staff.
Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.
We used the app which I believe is new. There were a few teething problems nowhere to ask for a wedge of lime, couldn't order a splash of mixer or a spirit without a mixer.
The first courses were lovely. We ordered burgers for our main course, but unfortunately we couldn't cut the base of the bun, not sure if the knifes weren't sharp enough or the buns were too hard. However the plates although modern, were too small for a burger.
Staff were lovely and helped us with every issue we had.
We booked last minute for Sunday lunch. We have been before and return because the Sunday launch is second to none. From the meat to the plentiful vegetables. Superbly cooked and highly recommend. We love that we can walk our dog then eat a Sunday Lunch. A lot of restaurants could learn from the Rock Lodge. Have to say Service was great too. Will be back!
We went for Sunday Lunch which was delicious & huge portions.Unfortunately they didn't have any other Main Courses available so our wives/Partners were forced to have 2 starters instead which wasn't good. The atmosphere was fine & the service excellent! Such a shame about the lack of Main Courses.
We really did enjoy our food especially my husband dish which is mussels with Thai green curry sauce and the place is quite cozy in the upstairs dining room.
lovely time. food and music fab
Will be back again
Both wife and I decided to give The Rock Lodge a go after some great reviews and we were not disappointed, the friendliness of the staff and quality of the food and beer was exceptional followed by Blues music (Thursday night) which is not my particular taste of genre in music but it certainly got my foot tapping away to the beat.
Went for a meal with another couple and will definitely be back, loved it. Highly recommend, next time we’re going back with a bigger group of us lol. Make sure you eat upstairs rather than downstairs though, the decor and feel of the place is lovely, after you’ve eaten, go downstairs and finish off the night with a boogie!
Very enjoyable roast dinners. I had the chicken and my fellow diners had the beef. The meat in both cases was cooked beautifully. Lovely roast potatoes. Good sized portions. Only reason I didn’t give five stars was that they had run out of orange juice (not the end of the world by any means). Will definitely go again.
Both the wife and I thought The Rock Lodge is a bit different to most restaurants, starting from the decor and then the friendly and attentive staff who all seem happy and proud of their place of work. They all being good friends with the young owner really sticks out. He should be proud of his achievements. The Sunday roast dinner was fabulous and feeding our dog was a big bonus. What a good idea to have a menu for the dog - she loved your gravy. All the best to you all and when visiting again we’ll be in.
Turned up and it was closed, tried to call and no answer, was left out in the cold trying to find somewhere to eat
Excellent food, value for money and great for taking your dogs too as they will also do a doggy bowl foc, excellent!!
Very happy with everything from food to pleasant food manager
Have eaten here a couple of times previously and this time we had the Sunday roast - one beef, one chicken.
Really enjoyed it, good food, lots of it and as usual the staff were great. It’s becoming a must visit place when in Whitstable
Loved the Alpine Décor. Food was very tasty and good sized portions & good value. Enjoyed and looking forward to our next visit.
Great atmosphere, food & entertainment - Exceptional value
As long as you get upstairs for the food and drinks served at the table, before the music starts, your fine, after then if you weren't there for the music, time to go asap, food was excellent though and waitresses were brilliant
Frequented the Rock Lodge with family & friends usually for the live bands but gave a Sunday afternoon a go, so glad we did the sharing roast was superb and the atmosphere
Amazing roast dinner! We had 2 sharers between 4 of us and it was all so lovely.
Disappointing range of dishes. Don't think chef knows what Piri Piri chicken is. Never experienced what was served. Chicken was far too spicy.
This was our first time dining here, but I am sure we will definitely be back.
Amazingly friendly welcome, which continued throughout the meal.
The food was amazing and excellent value for money.
Fabulous surroundings and ambience.
Just need an excuse to go back now!
