The Riverhouse Nestucca
Great foods & good service! The dining room is small. The two of us were given a 4-person table so it's not a problem.
We had a great time and meal! My wife had their Salmon Burger and I had their Fish and Chips, everything was fresh and hot. Had a great view of the Nestucca River too! We will be back soon!
Food was wonderful, service felt rushed, really loud since it is such a small place.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We will definitely go back.
It took over a half hour to get our pan fried oyster appetizer but when it finally did arrive it was delicious. Then it took another half hour to get our entrees which were also delicious if a little skimpy on the portions. I expected more than 3 scallops when I ordered the pan seared scallops but again they were delicious. For $100 including tip for 2 people with no alcohol it certainly wasn't a cheap meal but those are just the kinds of prices you pay on the coast.
Our second time eating there and we look forward to our next visit. The food and ambiance is great! Riverhouse is a wonderful addition to the area.
The food was nothing special for the price. The portions we small for the price. No bread served.... every other table got theirs.... once the food was served no one checked on us again . It quite small so the drunk guy two tables away was LOUD. Won’t go back two meals and a beer cost us $100
This has become our favorite go to dinner in Pacific City. The food has never disappointed. It is small with river view. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Great food, priced fairly, prepared expertly and presented properly.
Great service, attentive but not overbearing.
A real find.
This use to be our favorite spot starting 3 decades ago. We were happy to have the option again and were not disappointed.
We were politely greeted and promptly seated. Very good sourdough bread quickly came. We each had a martini ( decent selection of gins) and then split a salad and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly cooked, tender and very tasty. The salad was abundant and a perfect pairing.
We finished off the meal with the skillet apple pie a la mode. It too was very good.
We are from the Seattle area and will be back.
Small intimate dining room with twelve tables serving the most amazing calamari, crab ravioli and fresh salmon! These first-timers will be back....again and again!
The Crab Mac & Cheese was amazing! We highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful experience all around! Food was fresh and flavorful, service was impeccable! Wish we had more time to go back for more!
Elegant, delicious food in a casual riverside setting. The crab, shrimp Mac and Cheese is absolutely addicting! Salmon was delicious with polenta etc. Friendly, efficient service was delightful! A Special treat! I'll eat there whenever I can!
This is a small restaurant that overlooks the river and has a comfortable ambiance. The food and service were excellent. We had oysters, scallops and clams, ling cod. The accompanying sides were flavorful with many subtle flavors, not overpowering but complex and very tasty. We were very impressed and wished we lived closer so we could dine there more often.
Home cooking is the best! You get quality ingredients. One the best places on the West Coast. Clam chowder is great as well. This place is always pleasant, fresh food, amazing services, great people on staff!
The owner is so friendly and nice. He even gave us a treat. Cheese cake was just perfect.
We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We'll definitely go back. Thanks
Staff is super friendly! The food was incredible! Seafood is affordable and fresh! We will definitely be going back our next visit to Pacific City!
I had reservations for two but no one showed up to open the restaurant. We ate somewhere else. Very disappointed.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of the dood we ordered. All 5 of our meals were flavorful and unique. We can’t wait to go back. Definitely the best meal we’ve had in Pacific City. The staff and owners visited with us and were very welcoming.
This was our third trip to Riverhouse this year and I can't imagine going to Pacific City, or the general area, and not making it a point to eat here.
The food is so phenomenal, and an unexpected experience I wouldn't expect out of a small coastal town. Creative dishes that always done great, that rely on local purveyors -- it's always a delight!
Do yourself a favor and skip the crowds and underwhelming food at Pelican and treat yourself to Riverhouse Nestucca. You will not be disappointed!!
We drove two hours just to try out the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese and it was well worth it! We were sold before the dish even came out by the clam chowder! Highly recommend this place! Would drive there again!
We have been many times, just the two of us or a group. It’s simply the best restaurant in town. I’ve had crab ravioli, fish and chips, chicken and dumplings and many other dishes and never been disappointed. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. We will probably be back next weekend!
Very good food! The salmon was perfect. Clam chowder is awesome.
Every single person at our table said it was ranked at one of our top five meals of all time. Simply outstanding!
Charming spot with views of the river. Locally sourced menu, pretty well done. Only downside was that the tap water that is generously poured and backed up with a quart more is heavily chlorinated and really just about ruined my dinner. I have managed and owned restaurants before and the quality of each part of the dining experience should be considered. A filter added to the tap would be a small investment or having Earth 2O deliver would be pennies per customer to ensure a fine dining experience. Oh, maybe there were two downsides... When I mentioned this to the hostess she was snarky about it and said "tastes fine to me!" I tend to hold food service grudges so I probably will not return. Even though the food was pretty tasty.
I don't write too many reviews but thought I'd add one here. Wasn't sure about this place but we're so glad we went. We were there on a very busy Saturday with our 2 kids. First of all, the service was fantastic -- they were really on it, super friendly and knowledgable even though it was so busy and a little frenetic. The food was also really great. Highly recommend the seafood lasagna and the cod dish -- both would make any Portland foodie very happy. Steamer clams were also wonderful. The restaurant is fairly small and decor and tables are a little haphazard which only adds to the charm of the place.
The clam chowder was amazing! Would definitely go back next time I'm in PC!
We had brunch with friends this past weekend at The Riverhouse Nestucca. An absolutely outstanding meal. The best Crab Eggs Benedict EVER!! Wonderful and attentive service along with a beautiful view of the river. Can't wait to go back!
Wow! Over a 10 day vacation traveling from San Jose to Portland, The Riverhouse was our very best meal! I enjoyed the crab stuffed ravioli - it was incredible. The combination of cherry tomatoes, corn, avocado with the crab and pasta goodness was out of this world. My husband had the pan seared salmon. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Honestly the best salmon we have ever had. We enjoy upscale dining in New Orleans regularly and another one of our favorite cities to eat is Charleston, SC. We are shocked a chef of this caliber is in such a small town. The service was excellent as well.
Always great food and service. We go often and have never been disappointed. The food is the best quality in the area. The owners and staff are super friendly.
Also, chicken and dumplings coming soon!! Can’t wait!
Love going there. The food is nicely prepared and the service is good.
Our food was excellent and the service was great! A good find in Pacific City
We found this restaurant doing a search of the area while vacationing at the Oregon coast. What a find!!! Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. The food was excellent, each entree was unique and delicious. A diamond in the rough....you will not be disappointed!!!
We ordered fried oysters and were shocked to see crispy deep fried oysters arrive at our table. They looked like deep fried gizzards sold at roadside convenience deli counters. The oysters were dry with little to no Oyster liquor.
Sharon Montoya Welsh writes in her book, OYSTER COOKERY, "Perfectly fried oysters are plump and juicy with a lovely coating....".
Montoya also writes, "... there are but four ways to eat oysters- fried, stewed, baked and raw on the half shell." The fried oysters served to us at The Riverhouse were DEEP fried, not gently and lovingly fried so that the oyster feels soft and juicy on the roof of the mouth before incising into a plump juicy explosion of oyster tastes.
Had an early dinner with my two brothers for a birthday celebration and at 5:15 we were lucky and got a table by the window overlooking the river. After driving by the building a couple of times and not being impressed with the outside appearance, I was happy to see how warm and inviting the upstairs dining experience was. Don't be fooled by the buildings appearance. We had wait-staff that was knowledgeable and fun, attentive and efficient. The fried oysters were some of the best I have had, and I loooove oysters! Thin crispy cornmeal on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside and perfectly fried. Chinook was excellently grilled leaving it moist rich, crab raviolis with quinoa salad were delicate and enhanced by sweet cherry tomatoes and corn. But the bread pudding!!! We split one and I savored every warm, sweet, brandy and caramel topped bite.
Beer and wine selections minimal, but some good options.
I will be returning to have the Paella (takes an extra 20 minutes).
Small restaurant overlooking the river. Wonderful meal...all of it! Bread, clam chowder, crab ravioli just awesome. A loud table of tipsy females ruined the ambiance — they belonged in a bar — but we loved it and strongly recommend it!
Very good clam chowder and salmon also. Lori really enjoyed the crab Mac and Cheese
Tried 4 chowders on the Coast and Riverhouse's won hands down!
Extremely nice people!
Go and try it out, it’s a must :-)!
Small but Mighty: Sensational food in cozy riverside setting. The salmon was cooked to perfection as was the steak. Do not miss the light bread pudding.
