   Amazing food, it is my local pub and recently visited 2 times after a long break, and oh my God, what a surprise. New chef and what an amazing food. Thank you

   Very Covid safe-drinks, cutlery etc brought to your table on a tray for you to remove avoiding additional handling by staff. Tables spaced out really well. Lots of hand sanitizer available. Food was excellent (Sunday lunch), well cooked and presented. Professional and friendly staff who have obviously been well trained.

   A bit expensive for pub food Plus wine is very expensive but overall a very please at evening Food was lovely service was very good

   We thought the food was really good and imaginative, that's why we made the trip to Backwell as normally go to the Bear and Swan as closer to home. Service was fair, although a bit slow. Many people came in to the restaurant without wearing a mask and were not challenged about it which was a shame.

We do actively ask customers to wear a mask and every guest that books are informed they will need to wear a face mask. I know we have had some guests that have informed us when booking that they are medically exempt from wearing a mask and so it's possible these were the guests you noticed. We are ensuring we are strictly following all Covid safety guidelines.

   The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service of everything but food was slow. Having said that I would go back in a heartbeat.

   I have eaten many times at the restaurant. Always been superb. On this occasion there were insufficient staff and the service was very slow. My pie was a little overcooked as was my wife’s chicken and chips. She advised the waiter of this issue and left most of the chips. On the positive side the staff were extremely pleasant and the pub clean and well spaced for Covid. Hate to criticise in these difficult times but was very disappointed.

I know we had some technical challenges that meant that things took a little longer to sort and the manager was pulled away for some time to try and fix the problem leaving the team a little short of hands.     Breakfast was very disappointing. Completely missed the notes on the booking as it was a special occasion. It is our local pub but could be so much better.
