Message from John & Thu Ha:

"The Richmond" is a small family owned restaurant.

We offer two tasting menus: a 3-course menu for $50.00 and a 5-course menu for $79.00. Both menus come with optional wine pairings.

At "The Richmond" our goal is to put a premium on individual diners rather than volume. Each night we take a limited number of reservations. Our mission is to provide personalized food and service.

Please come and be part of our restaurant family.

The food are good, except we took 3 hours to finish the dinner, but it's a French dinner we understand

Wonderful food and service, fantastic neighborhood gem. Chef’s one-man vision of what he wants his restaurant to be and the results always lead to a fun and delicious night.

John, owner and chef, is extremely friendly, treats you as a dear friend, goes extra mile (and extra hour ) to make your visit exceptional. He is big on good vines and excellent food. Everything was really very good, but the apple and goat cheese tart was out of this world. It is a pity, I cannot stop just for the tart and a cup of coffee...

I really enjoyed my experience at The Richmond. Would have never known it was there if I didn't discover it on Yelp first. Chef John and his niece Thanh are so hospitable and friendly. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, with partitions separating each table so each party has plenty of privacy. The food is incredible and portions are generous! it is clear Chef John puts a lot of thought into each course. Loved the duck and the apple and goat cheese tart.

The Chef, Johh, greeted us at the door and showed us to our table. The way The Richmond operate is quite unique: Chef John was not only the Chef but he also is your server. He took some time to chat with us, pour our wine and explained each dish. The ambiance: small and cozy, very few table, such a great idea to use a big long red curtain to separate our dining area right by the door. It gave privacy but also didn't feel box in. The staff: this is for other staff and not the Chef, one of the staff brought out our appetizer and just walked away. Although the presentation was quite beautiful, we didn't know what exactly in it. Chef John came out and we told him, he apologized and explained the ingredients and how the way it was cooked. He then personally brought out each dish after that for us. The staff was also talking loudly in Vietnamese that we could hear their conversations (we are Vietnamese) in the kitchen. But they quieted down when more people came into the restaurant. This was the only thing we didn't enjoy that night. The food: outstanding and in unique flavor. We chose the Three Course Tasting Menu -Shrimp Fritters in Shrimp Bisque served with carrot-cabbage salad & shrimp chip -Red Wine Braised Short Rib & Maine Diver Scallop with creamy polenta - Braised Duck & Fettuccine in mushroom port wine sauce & baby spinach -Seared New York Steak with potato hash & Swiss chard -Apple Tart: cinnamon vanilla ice cream -Coffee Semifreddo: coffee ice cream, coffee granite & almond brittle

Sensational experience. Gracious personal service from the chef himself. Small place seating only 24, I think. Each table has its own private space. Limited menu, but creative choices. They offer only tasting menus, a three course ($50) and a five course, each with a wine option for I think $40 additional, but worth it. I never order pork chops or roast in a restaurant because they tend to be dry, but I ordered the pork roast and it was so flavorful and delectably tender -- more like a prime rib than a pork roast. Prices may be somewhat high on the face of it, but more than worth it for the quality of the food and the experience. Highly recommended. Street parking.

Very good, how many places do you go now days where the chef and owner is also your waiter?! John is a character and definitely wants you to relax and take it easy....if you are in a hurry this is not the place.
