Fried Chicken Sandwich
Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Blue Ribbon Sauce
Had martinis and the best fried chicken sandwich on the planet! date was loving her shroomburger, Will be back. Service was terrific
Very mediocre food
Surprisingly good food, good service, sitting in the back is quieter. The front of the restaurant is super loud. We really enjoyed our dinner!
Had the Restaurant Week special dinner of shrimp scampi, hanger steak, and scoop of cream. All was tasty, though the steak came out before we'd finished our appetizers.
Very good neighborhood restaurant. Excellent tasty food.
Our waiter was very pleasant but not so attentive. The A/C wasn’t working properly so we sweat thru dinner (as someone who is 9months pregnant this was less than ideal) but the food, ambience and conversation was good so we had a nice time! Will certainly return but hope it’s a more comfortable experience next time.
We all ordered different dishes and enjoyed them.
Key lime pie for dessert, why put ice cream on the plate?
Wanted something all American for July 4 dinner (before fireworks). Chose the Ribbon and ate outside. The burger was amazing - med rare as ordered, juicy. Yum! Fries were better than average and pickled cucumbers were delicious.
Thank you for supporting your local business
The waiter was attentive without being too intrusive. The food was outstanding from start to finish. And we didn’t wait long but weren’t rushed.
Food was mediocre, AC was out and they were fixing it in front of us - pretty revolting. Oh, and they got part of the food order wrong.
service was not what I have experienced in the past. The waiter was pleasant, but did only what he had to do and no more .It was a Monday night and the restaurant was less than half full .After the dinner was served no one reappeared until it was time for desert.
While the food was good as usual, the service was quite underwhelming. We had six (yes, SIX) different people serve our table, but none committed to us. As we were sat in the larger (but empty) room, no one remembered we existed, so we'd try and flag whoever happened to walk past us on their way to the kitchen. Initial greeting and water took 15 min. Fast forward a very slow meal, when we finally ordered dessert, it came 25 min later (the waiter came to check if we'd finished but then realized dessert had never come). Even the check wasn't charged correctly at first. Our anniversary obviously went unacknowledged and we did not feel appreciated. We understand that, as the city reopens, many new hires need to be better trained. But if we are paying full prices (and yes, we did), it would not hurt to get better attention, for as imperfect as it could be.
Food is tired
We were seated right away. Waiter had too many tables - he was terrific when we could find him, but long waits in between.
(We were amused by sign at entrance encouraging us limit time at table to 75 or 90 minutes. Were that only possible).
Food came quickly from kitchen, and was tasty if unremarkable. Same with cocktails. Lots of variety, but the simpler (like burgers, chicken sandwich) the better. Deserts were generous for sharing and delicious.
This is a very good casual restaurant and we will return.
Wait staff was almost nonexistent!. The food was ok, but way overpriced. The bus boys were good in bringing food once we were able to order. I would not go back.
Service was super slow - couldn’t find the waiter for a check.
Delay in getting silverware once the food was served etc.
A very nice restaurant that I have been to half a dozen times and always enjoyed.
In summary, mediocre food, poor service and very overpriced. Loud and crowded as well. So many better choices on the UWS.
Food was only okay. My husband snd I shared the butter lettuce salad and spare ribs. Salad was good. Spare ribs were not as tender as we have had them before. We also shared the key lime pie which was good but not fabulous. The no decaf coffee was a shame as we wanted coffee wuth our pie. Have never been to a restaurant that didn’t serve decaf coffee!!! Seems very odd.
Drinks were good.
Service was very slow and part of our dinner never came so we canceled it.
Food is excellent. It is very pleasant to eat outdoors but indoors is noisy and a bit too dark. A bar area is always on the loud side and the music added nothing to the ambience.
Friendly staff, tasty food. Elegant back dining room.

Very good food. Pretty fully priced but fair. Good service. Music can be a little loud if you have hearing issues.
Waiter clearly didn’t like his job.
The Ribbon epitomizes the restaurant that is "just OK." The menu looks interesting, but the food is just OK. The beer list looks good, but they are out of the one you want. The service is just OK. The prices are a bit steep, but this is the UWS.
One waiter 5 tables scattered in different parts of the room no service
It was 73 degrees on a Saturday in the city and this restaurant was empty, which is a bit telling. The hostesses were so kind, sat us next to the Knicks game as we asked and remained friendly throughout. But it seemed as if the waiter didn’t even want to be there as he was incredibly dry. We were hoping to do brunch but since we weren’t loving the overall ambience and they closed at 3pm for sanitation (which is awesome for health purposes), we decided to leave and go to The Smith about 10 mins away.
Really loved the live music on a Saturday and the vibe inside. It was mad chilly though because they kept the doors open. I absolutely loved my quinoa salad, even though they put celery in it when I asked my server to please not put celery... otherwise, a great experience!
Hot chicken and pancake amazing. Better than expected
I always really enjoy the Ribbon- great menu, good service, great atmosphere and above all- a decent whiskey selection. Thanks for all of the great specials!
We do love our whiskey here! Thank you for supporting your local business during these tough times.
Great place for a good meal. Not rushed, good service and pleasant atomsphere
The service here was friendly and prompt, but the overall atmosphere was a bit of a let down. I had read reviews that called it "lively," but when we went for dinner on a Tuesday night, it was pretty dead. The food was good but the price point felt very high for what it is. The beer/wine/spirits offerings were great, our waiter was awesome, but I don't see any urgent need to go back unfortunately.
We have been several times and have had very good meals and 3 or the party of 4 did not like their entrees. Maybe it was a miss on the restaurant or the orders would not be something we would like at the Ribbon.
Our server was wonderful! And the food was so delicious...could not have been better!
Glad you had a good time Susan. Thank you for supporting your local restaurant!
The food is nothing spectacular. It was overpriced for what it was.
The Ribbon is always a perfect choice. The atmosphere, environment, service and food and drink always rise to the occasion and is one of our local favorites.
Thank you for supporting your local restaurant!
Had higher expectations of this place. Lovely ambience and terrific service but the food was just ok. Black bean burger was dry and not very flavorful. Fried chicken would have been the way to go if I were
Our dinners were exceptional. The lobster and shrimp curry dish was perfect, the oysters were perfect and the braised short ribs were...perfect. First time back since the pandemic started and now that the city is rebooting, I will be resuming enjoying this spot. Excellent!
Poor service. Cold food. Not an enjoyable experience. Ribbon was the last restaurant I went to just before Covid, and it was great—service, food, ambiance. Now one of the first I’ve been to post Covid and they have not adopted well. I hope they can turn things around since this used to be a regular favorite.
For the second year in a row, Passover was saved by The Ribbon. Their service and quality always remind us why it is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC!
We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday with us, even if remotely. Thank you for supporting your local business
