The food seemed a little over priced.
The portions were way too big (although we are from the UK).
Although the venue was not due to close for another 3 hours the background music switched off at 9pm killing the ambiance.
At this time people also started stacking chairs around us where we were seated down the back. I assume this area gets closed off earlier, however I would have expected them to wait until the last guests were done there.
It’s a very good neighborhood restaurant. The decor reflects the neighborhood including old pictures.
It was Father's Day so it was kind of chaotic. Our server seemed somewhat abrupt. I guess that's why.
The service was good. The food was mediocre. It was not super expensive, but over priced for what you got. It was ridiculous to pay $7.00 per bottle for sodastream 'bubbly water'.
We liked the Ribbon so much on our first visit that we went again just 6 days later. We got a table close to the window and it was great for people watching. The food and service were excellent as well.
A very lively, loud, crowded restaurant with amazing comfort food including the best fried chicken on the UWS. It it a little overpriced, and there really should be a side included with the fried chicken. Keep in mind that the "dressed eggs" may appear to be Deviled, but the are just hard boiled eggs with toppings. Delicious - just make sure you have a reservation or you may have to wait a while.
There was a party of 28 that was making so much noise that it was impossible to talk.
Mac and cheese fritters are DELICIOUS!! Great selection of happy hour cocktails. Best Old Fashion! Staff were very friendly and do not rush you out. Can’t wait to go again.
Excellent meal better service
The food is excellent. I had branzino, and my guest had risotto, and we were both very happy.
I really hate the noise level (random pop music) and that there are TV screens everywhere. It is so tacky, and seriously detracts from an otherwise very pleasant lunch. I could barely hear my dining partner's conversation. The food is far better than the ambiance, in my opinion, and the atmosphere detracts from the value. They need to figure out if they are offering a real dining experience (which according to the food and the prices, is what they are going for) , or just good meals in an ok setting. I don't think I'll be back.
Excellent service and food. There were numerous choices fro brunch which made making a decision extremely difficult.
We celebrated my niece’s high school graduation there.
We love everything about the Ribbon! Ambiance, service and good. It is the best restaurant in my neighborhood. Special occasions, regular dining perfect for everything!
The food is ok. Seems expensive for what it is, but the service is absolutely terrible. Waiter was flustered, never came back, dishes were dirty, had to keep flagging people down.
Always a great brunch at The Ribbon! Yesterday was particularly nice as it was a post-race (NYMini 10K) celebration with my newest and bestest friend and running partner! The Pineapple Mule is FIRE! And as always the Avocado Toast with poached egg is the absolute BEST!
Family visit to NY Museum of Natural History.
Service was outstanding, but food was below average. Would not recommend the fried chicken sandwich.
Enjoyed our quick dinner - stuck with salads and sandwiches. The PIG club was very taste but not as meaty as I would have liked. The French Dip was svery good and the arugula salad came with almost no dressing but oil and balsamic was provided on request. Still cost $20 each despite no drinks.
Great food with a nice ambiance. The waiter was funny and really knew the food. Nice brunch spot on a beautiful day with the open walls looking out onto 72nd, or any day for that matter.
We had an early brunch reservation and were surprised at how empty the restaurant was when we arrived. They sat us in the bar area...which was quite dark and not really an inviting space.
The food was quite good: crispy eggs and polenta was innovative and quite tasty. The buffalo cauliflower was tender and just spicy enough. I had the strawberry basil mimosa, which sounded better than it was....it kept separating and needed to be stirred frequently to keep it mixed to drink.
The service was just ok...hard to get our waiters attention for drinks or condiments and then the check. Expected much better.
I had moderate hopes for The Ribbon and was not expecting anything amazing but they managed to lower my very reasonable expectations. They dont know how to cook a steak, they dont represent the Blue Ribbon group well. By far the worst meal that Ive ever had at a Blue Ribbon establishment. Two Thumbs Down, don't go here.
A perfect spot
We dined in the early evening, in the back room when the restaurant was not crowded and the noise level just fine.
Biscuits and Banana Bread are juts two of the many reasons to go here for brunch!
Awesome service and great food. I’ll definitely be back to watch the nba finals
Our waiter was really cold from the get-go. Our food was just OK. The oysters were outstanding, deviled eggs were tasty, but both of our main courses missed the mark by a lot. My chicken was overdone, and my hot date’s trout salad wasn’t much, mostly because there was barely any trout. We were both hungry and underwhelmed after our mains that we ordered more deviled eggs and oysters.
We found The Ribbon through The Infatuation. The restaurant has really high reviews and sparkling recommendations, but we wouldn’t recommend The Ribbon to anyone.
We called in advance and were told the brunch was open until 4 pm. When we arrived, the waiter told us it was only until 3 pm. This waiter was not friendly and did not make us feel like we were welcome. We asked for mashed potatoes at 2:45 and were declined, telling us that they could not serve them until 23 pm. These are the idiotic rules, to be honest. All would be forgiven if the food was excellent. It was not. The fried chicken tasted, for lack of a better word, funky. The fries were tiny for the price and the $15 salad was the size of an $8 salad. This is the second time I was here, the first was substantially better at least because that waiter smiled. Too bad ours had a bad day and extended that courtesy to us.
Great place for brunch!
Had a great time at The Ribbon starting with Happy Hour flowing into dinner before our show at The Beacon Theater. The happy hour fried chicken was really tasty and good value for only $25.
Because of the proximity of where I was staying, I made a reservation at Ribbon. What a fantastic place. all three of us enjoyed the atmosphere and each of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. Definitely will return!!
The food here is always very good and, despite that the place is perpetually crowded, we were seated on time and did not wait long to order or receive our food. Friendly staff and a lively atmosphere.
exceptional oxtail burger. One of the best burgers i've ever had. Also the beet salad. Amazing! Whiskey apricot smash cocktail. Loved it.
great service and fun atmosphere.
Good spot for visiting uws. Convenient parking lot. Good range of main dish choices. Solid service
This place made my Mother's Day bad. I made reservations for brunch and was looking forward to having a nice meal and drinks with my children. The drinks we ordered never came. I reminded the server after the food was served and still we didn't get our drinks. The server said that we would get complimentary desserts to make up for the mix-up with the drinks. What we got was a tiny bite size cake that hardly made up for anything. It was a big disappointment. Next Mother's Day I will find a place that can give us a better experience.
Pretty solid food. Very comfortable. The Amish chicken definitely exceeded my expectations. A bit pricey for what you get. Service was impeccable though.
Great service and ambiance. Prices were fair. Food was above average but not great.
The food was boring. I felt like I was eating in a Ramada Inn somewhere in Middle America. The place was buzzing but we wondered why. Maybe everyone was drinking instead of eating.
Dimly lit place designed to hide the decor from previous restaurant. Prices are on the high side for a really short menu with few healthy choices. Overall all I can say is a decent burger.
The experience was outstanding and as always the food was excellent
Great menu, nice booth table. Enjoyed our food. It was very busy so service wasn't perfect but it's easy and the atmosphere is nice and the menu covers everyone's tastes.
Awesome food - the devil eggs were outstanding
