LOVED their food! And our server Christian was so personable and nice.
I love the Ribbon on 72nd St and was excited to have a good place to go pre-theater. However, this location place bears no resemblance to the other restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and WAY overpriced. At least a 30% markup over the other restaurant...which I could’ve accepted, given the location, except that the food was not great. Our service was excellent though.
The midtown location is closed on Mondays for the summer! We showed up thanks to your app and it was closed. Thought you might want to know! I was super bummed (because I had already decided what I was going to order) but luckily there are plenty of other options in the neighborhood.
I never write reviews, but after my experience at The Ribbon I had to. The food was excellent and we were seated right away. The issue was our waitress. The other wait staff was amazing, but our waitress had an attitude from the start.
At the end of the meal, our waitress brought the bill and I checked it. It was accurate, so we put our credit card down. When she came back with the receipt to sign, I realized that it was $10 more than the check she first brought. When bringing this to her attention, our waitress said that she was sorry, but someone put a beer on our tab even though we had already paid and closed out the tab. I have never heard of this happening before. She then said she could void the charge and re-run our credit card with the accurate amount. She seemed annoyed that we caught the price difference and that she had to cancel the charge and put the correct amount on the card. She was hesitate to void the charge though because “it would show up twice on the statement” (which i’ve also never heard of before). After asking her to change it a third time, we gave up as we had a show to catch. When leaving, we tried to talk to the manager about the whole situation, but he did not acknowledge our story and we left with a bad taste in our mouth.
Big upgrade for the theater district!! Highly recommend
While the food is good and the ambiance if very cool. The price is way too high. I eat at plenty of expensive restaurants, but this was ridiculous.
The food wasn't good and the service was subpar. the drinks were fine.
Outstanding experience for our 25th Wedding Anniversary!
We flew over 3000 miles to be at this restaurant experience and combined with the “OMG Moulin Rouge Theatre show it was a dream night.
In particular the plateau starter was outstanding and the signature roast steak joint was an explosion of cordon bleu derived French experience of fine dining combined with traditional American love of beef.... load n proud!
Thank you for a great experience it lived up to all expectations.
Limited menu. Three waiters came to our table asking about water and drinks.
Service was disappointing (had to ask at least twice for several oversights). Food was not memorable, however the price points for everything implied that it would be a very positive experience, which it was not. There are too many very nice options close to Times Square to waste your time and money at The Ribbon.
Although they were unusually slow , especially for a Friday ( albeit my reservation was 9:00), I experienced great service and the food was delicious. I had the braised short rib, which came with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts, perfectly combined and all were amazing!
I would highly recommended this if you’re in the area close to Times Square to see a show.
Phenomenal customer service, ...clean, courteous, gorgeous, and delicious! All you could ask for in a dining experience. I felt very comfortable and taken care of while the background music (low-key, provided by a very skilled DJ) kept the conversation fun and the energy high and vibrant. Everyone there seemed to be having a good time. The raw bar was amazing and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Well !, I was celebrating my birthday, reserved a table for 6pp , the minute we got there hostess was nice and attentive she took us to our table nice booth in the corner. Our server Janice very nice and attentive too she offered us drinks, wine or beer from the bar . We ordered couple drinks and bottle wine to start the night . Drinks and wine arrived. My whisky smash was very good so I drank all night . We ordered some appetizer for the table , everything was so good and delicious, buffalo style cauliflower so good , the tuna tartar special was delicious bbq ribs yummy . For dinner we only ordered two entrees the king cut prime rib and the bronzino , with three side dishes broccolini, mashed potatoes and the roasted mushrooms and to finish the night off Alexandra send us a huge desert the monkey bread that was so good and we also try the key lime pie and the famous blue ribbon chocolate chip bread pudding , everything was so good !! . Thank you for a great night !!.
We had a great experience and would definitely recommend.
This is a wonderful place with unique dining options like pate platters and cheese and meat tastings. It has excellent dinners and desserts and it’s ambience is a slice of Old World NYC even though it’s a new restaurant. My champagne came in an old fashioned champagne glass. They even give you your Cheques in books and you can keep the book if you like.
Excellent lobster shrimp curry but very pricey. Excellent service and cool ambience.
Very nice spot for a lite meal before theatre -- food is good, not great. Service is good; ambiance is above average. It's a lovely restaurant. Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about and we would re-visit if looking for a restaurant in the Times Square area.
As a big fan of the UWS location, I was very disappointed. Food was mediocre and service was spotty. Seemed like a tourist trap.
Dinner and a show in NYC for my wife’s birthday. Place has a cool retro feel with style and classy decor. Table was ready at scheduled time, no issue whatsoever. That was a prime consideration as we had a show to catch after dinner. Menu was not extensive but met our needs nicely. Bar and wine menu was very good. Service was very attentive and always smiling. Price and value is subjective as it is NYC and everything is expensive but I thought they were in line with other restaurants near them.
Overall I would say yes I would eat there again no hesitation. Wife enjoyed her experience as well and the whole night went off without a hitch and would recommend this place to others.
Great service, great food, great ambiance. We started with oysters which here huge and delicious. Fried chicken was tasty. Short rib was outbid this world. Gave us a great surprise for our anniversary. Will consider again.
Had dinner with some girlfriends before a play. Deceptively large space. Great food. Wonderful service. It’s not cheap but it’s worth the price. Not overrun with tourists either.
Very curate and elegant atmosphere two steps from Time Square. Amazing food, healthy and delicious. Great service. I’d highly recommend it when in NYC
Great addition to the theater district... will definitely be back!
Food was great and our server was pleasant but not quick to refill our water or bring the check. We had to make a Show and cut the timing close
I enjoy your restarant and have been 3 x recently while going to theater. Love the food drinks etc meatballs salad chicken soup lamb chops but a bit pricey
Excellent service, great ambience, perfect for pre-theatre dining. Two of us had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly (one rare and one well). Would highly recommend.
Fabulous restaurant! Loved the decor, having a DJ with excellent music, great food and wonderful fun ambiance! One of our best meals while in NYC! Would highly recommend to others!
Great place, will definitely be on our list of must goes.
The braised short ribs fell short. It was like a bad pot roast. Our waitress was awesome which was about the only positive thing I have to say about The Ribbon. Food was mediocre and I wouldn’t return.
We reviewed the menu on line prior to arrival. When we were ordering our lunch the menu was limited and different than the online menu. The waiter, who was awesome said that the restaurant had not updated the limited lunch menu online yet. I felt that this was a bait and switch scenario. I would have left but we had already ordered drinks. Overall the food and atmosphere were great. We saw To kill a mockingbird which was playing at the Shubert theatre across the street.
We came early for our reservation and were seated promptly.. waiter took my drink order and not my husbands. It wasn’t very good and asked to have it remade.. still not good but let it slide. They never brought any bread to the table nor did they to the table next to us and they asked 3 times. Food was mediocre at best and service was kind of iffy. We’ve eaten at the upper west side room and it was far superior with food and service and price. Won’t go back
What a fantastic addition to the area! Our neighborhood Ribbon is on the UWS, but the minute we walked in the the midtown/Times Sq location, we knew we wouldn't be let down. Service was exceptional, by the front staff, servers and manager. The staff went above and beyond, making our dining experience truly lovely. The space is beautiful and the location can't be beat for pre/post theatre dining. Food was always of excellent quality and reasonably priced for the area. A much needed and welcome addition. Will definitely be back.
Convenient location to many theaters. First time there and will return with my theater group often.
Excellent choice for pre-theatre lunch/dinner. Super convenient location with great drinks and food options.
very tasty and near the theater district in new york
The service was impeccable; friendly but not overbearing. The manager approached us to assure that we were having a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, with large portions. I had the short ribs and my sister had the lobster curry. We will definitely return. Timing of food and drinks was perfect.
a little pricey for what you get but the food was very tasty
We went to The Ribbon before a late show. The restaurant was lovely inside, with beautiful chandeliers and very New York decor. I ordered the lobster and shrimp curry which was delicious and very filling along with a well served glass of Pinot Grigio. I liked that my curry came with a generous amount of lobster yet it was the perfect amount! My date ordered roast chicken with Mac and cheese. He was definitely jealous of my order.
Overall the food was good and I enjoyed my tasty curry and wine. I would recommend for a good bite near the theatre and Times Square area.
Waiter was epic
Visited with a family of 4. All 4 meals were great. Rated value lower as the restaurant dings you $4 each for soda refills for kids. At $30-40 per plate seems a little petty to try and squeeze out an extra $8 for two 12oz fountain sodas
