The Ribbon was a disappointment. My friend ordered a soda and never received it. She told the waitress before getting the check as we didn’t want to be charged for it. The waitress did apologize, but then lamely blamed it on the restaurant getting busy. I ordered a French dip sandwich. The meat was tender but not very tasty. The fries were tasty and crisp but room temperature. There was no time to send it back as we were going to a show after lunch. My friend ordered a black bean burger which she deemed to be just OK. She said the side salad was good. Either of these dishes would have been much better at the neighborhood diner for less money.
I would not recommend eating at The Ribbon. We went for brunch and were very disappointed in the quality of the food, particularly given the price. We had the "famous" Dip sandwich, which contained tough, overcooked beef with nothing to dip it in. The Mojito was made with very cheap rum. Although we eat in NYC fairly often, we will never go back here again.
SUPER minor complaint, the speaker sound system has a buzz in it that was a little hard to ignore. Otherwise extremely pleasant experience and meal!
WOW & WOW...As soon as we walked in the hostess greeted us with a warm smile, then Jay walked us to our table, sat us and delivered with the best introduction to The Ribbon. He was so funny & acknowledgable! Then Kaylyn G gave us superb service throughout. The food was top notch...Oysters shucked to perfection (I'm picky), deviled eggs with fried oysters delicious (I LOVE spice but suggest asking for light jalapeno), steamed clams amazeballs (ask for bread for dipping because of the sauce), lobster & shrimp curry was fantastic, short rib OMG (almost 0 fat), to top off the night my hubby got to have monkey bread for the 1st time & he said OMG how have I never had this!!! FYI they have a individual size that is perfect for sharing.
I made a reservation specifically for a celebration and wrote it on the app reservation. When we got there, there were multiple large parties just standing in the small entrance waiting to be seated. After 10 minutes of waiting, we were rudely shown an awful table (middle of kitchen traffic) so we just left. Never actually dined. Awful experience
Pre theater. All good except the waitress couldn’t seem to hear us well and initially got the order wrong. They corrected it quickly and were very friendly.
Great pre theater spot.
A nice, convenient place for a pre-theater meal. Servers are friendly and helpful. There’s a nice three-course prix fixe menu.
Went for my birthday with my boyfriend. Was a Sunday night and not too many people inside. The service was great and the food was delicious. They gave me a hot fudge sundae too! Would definitely recommend!
Food here is really top notch, maybe a touch below SoHo but not far off. Wait staff was trying but they seemed pretty raw and lacking some of the charm you find in other locations. Space was maybe a third full on a Sunday night so a bit concerning but I'd encourage you to check it out if you need a last minute res. Prices in general are a bit high for TS but rent is prob too damn high anyway. My party enjoyed the less crowded experience and happy to pay a bit more for far superior food but sadly I'm afraid this location might be doomed unless more BR fans start showing this spot some love.
Here's to hoping one review can make a difference!
Lovely different space. Love all the books and the history. Brunch menu on Saturday limited however will return.
Excellent, cool, fun space. Very good food and service. Fun menu. Look forward to coming again soon.
I’ll keep it short. 2 of us ordered prime rib. About the time our dinner should have arrived, our waiter told us he was told the kitchen was out of prime rib??? I had noticed that 15 minutes earlier a large party of young men had entered. I asked the waiter if our prime rib was given to that party.
He said yes!!!!!!
Even tho I had a reservation for 6:45, we weren’t seated until 7:10. Given we had theatre tickets for 8 pm, this did not make for a relaxing meal. A burger was served by a bus boy with no ketchup, amd despite asking several people, I got finally got up and got it myself, burger now cold. $60, with no drinks was beyond expensive for such an unsatisfactory meal.
The Ribbon is a gem in the middle of Times Square. We had a lovely, delicious and most memorable evening at The Ribbon!! From the moment we were greeted and seated we were welcomed with a lovely serenade. The food is amazing just like the original outpost in the village and save room for the chocolate chip bread pudding!! The dining room is cozy and filled with soft lighting from the beautiful crystal chandeliers. It was my friend's birthday and they made it so special with a huge sparkler on her dessert, crown on her head and a sweet take home gift. All of these details made the evening very special. We will most definitely be back!! Thank you for the wonderful evening!! Cannot recommend The Ribbon enough!!
This restaurant is very poor quality. Sat for most of the meal with no water in our glasses, never offered a second round of drinks and the food - the food was below par quality. We had to return the Butchers Salad - it was just wet mush. The replacement Bronzino was incredibly salty. Our waiter was nice and he tried to be friendly. However, the clincher came when the bill arrived - over $100 for two fish and one glass of wine. Outrageous! And I’ve lived in NYC for many years. Low quality food, subpar service.
I brought all of this to the attention of the Manager (after we already paid the check and we’re leaving the restaurant). He said “well, at least we were accommodating by switching out the bad salad with another dish; and generally sorry the evening wasn’t better.”
If I could give it zero stars for service, I would. (The food was fair.) The only people who seemed to be working were the busboys. The waiters disappeared for the entire duration of our meal. Oh and the kicker? I had to request they pick up our credit cards so we could PAY & LEAVE and subsequently REQUEST TWICE to get our credit cards back.
We ate at The Ribbon prior to our show. The food was delicios and our waiter was courteous, friendly, quick and just the best!
Great brunch spot in midtown. A bit over priced but delicious.
Food was fine but very noisy.
Went for a pre-show brunch. The food was pretty good, but the prices were way too high for the small amount of food that you get (10 dollars for a bottle of still water). The bigger problem was that our service was terrible. We had to wait close to 45 minutes after finishing our meal to finally receive our check from someone who was not our waitress. Our waitress never came back to check on us and was impossible to get the attention of. She walked by several times, but ignored us to focus on a larger party which had just been seated. Based on the service, I wouldn’t go here again and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone else, especially if you are a smaller party.
This is becoming our “go to” pre-theater destination. Good quality, wide variety of choices, attentive service, and reasonably priced for the Theater District.
It was my partner’s birthday. Ribbon made it very special! I was impressed!! They did an outstanding job! Great food, excellent service and super serving!
Thank you to everyone at the Ribbon for an awesome experience. We arrived for a pre theater dinner at 6:15 and were seated immediately. We ordered one appetizer and our entrees by 6:25 and then realized we had a 7:00 curtain. Our waiter was amazing and brought out everything within minutes and had an excellent meal and made our curtain time with a few minutes to spare. It was our second time dining at the Ribbon and will definitely be back again.
Four of us had lunch before the theater. We had the cheddar cheese bacon burger and prime rib dip. Both were excellent, and the accompanying fries were cooked perfectly. My watermelon/Prosecco/basil cocktail was wonderful. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly, and very attentive. We all enjoyed The Ribbon.
Delicous 3-course prix fixe menu! Friendly staff and my waiter was really good at advising me in my choices.
Great location, food was very good , fun place to be
Great new find!! Loved the food, decor, accommodating staff.
Great food, great service, great space. Well done!
great location, great food and service. NYC prices
We came into the city on Thursday with no reservations for a place to eat. Walked in and was greeted
by your lovely host. They both were very nice nice. Was seated right away. Our weaiter was very understanding that we had a show and would like to get in and out. And in and out on time is what he did. The food was GREAT and so was the service. So good we came back Friday before the second part of our show. Was running late on Friday , called to tell them and they held our table. Was so happy. Can't wait to go back on our next trip to the city.
Chicken, Avocado, Tomatoes, Radishes, Hearts of Palm, Celery, Corn,Quinoa
Very good quick meal - with wine and sorbet - perfect pre theater - and across the street from the Shubert - would definitely go there again
more extensive menu selections available but this was perfect for me
It was lovely. The service was very attentive. Food was delicious. I had the buffalo cauliflower, shrimp and lobster curry, and monkey bread dessert, my daughter had the homemade pretzel appetizer and a cheeseburger. We enjoyed it very much.
The decor is funky, haunted house like, entertaining. An all i all great experience. I would come again.
Had a pre-theater meal here on Wednesday. Got 50% of what we ordered. The salmon and lamb chop entrees were fantastic but unfortunately, they came before our appetizer. We had to flag down a random waiter to let them know we were near finishing our entrees and no longer wanted the appetizer, if it were ever to appear. Lovely waitress but uneven service.
Definitely a tourist trap as prices are way too high for what you get. Over $90 for two entrees and a $10 bottle of sparkling water. Will not be returning anytime soon.
A good pick to take unadventurous out-of-towners for pre- or post-show meal. Staff was very considerate and helpful.
Our party of six found The Ribbon to be the perfect setting for a pre-theater meal. The decor matched its theater district location with pictures and memorabilia from theater history. We enjoyed seasonal offerings on the menu and found the food delicious with reasonable New York prices. No room for dessert! The wait-staff provided excellent service. We will be back. Thank you to all for making our dining experience great!
We went between parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and we were in quickly and efficiently and served perfectly.
The ribbon accommodated my large group of 10 girls celebrating my bachelorette party! We were seated promptly and the service was great. Awesome ambiance.
The space is fun, service and food excellent. This is a perfect place for before/after/between shows on Broadway! It is sophisticated, yet great for families. Hangar Steak and Seasonal Butternut Squash soup were delicious! Service was outstanding as well, we felt very well taken care of!
It is a wonderful new option for pre theatre dinner.
The menu is appealing, the food was very good.
There is a large bar area, and upstairs a more peaceful dining area.
I will return.
