The Ribaut Social Club - Anchorage 1770
Our aim is to capture the incorrigible spirit and convivial atmosphere of the original Ribaut Club, established at the Anchorage in 1891. In its heyday, the Club hosted performances, grand parties, dances and even gambling—a raucous getaway from buttoned-up social strictures of the time. Today, guests can cocktails and dinner with unrivaled water views or a sophisticated brunch surrounded by 300 years of Beaufort history.
Food and service Great...
Dining room was hot, need more ac and music...
The perfect complement to a stay at the Anchorage 1770. Absolutely the best crab cakes you’ll find outside Maryland! Personal touch from the chef made this a wonderful dinner.
Everything was superb!
Best fresh vegetables lamb chops and veal chops we ever had! Only disappointment was they ran out of dessert! Will order that first next time!
The best meal we've had in Beaufort. Our complements to the chef for a creatively crafted, delicious meal. We had the roasted two-rib pork chop and the veal chop, both very large and excellent. Their wine list is good (but they could do with a better selection of Italian reds), and the setting is upscale and classy. The cost is correct for a meal of this quality. We will definitely be back.
Excellent food... Dishes were well put together and tasted great. Drink menu is limited but the menu rotates often which keeps everything fresh.
Enjoyed the porch and the food was amazing, although expensive. My pork was overcooked the first time, but it was promptly corrected and was terrific the second try. Staff was friendly and attentive. Good for a special occasion or special treat.
This is southern hospitality at its best. ALL of the staff here are adorable. The veal chop was the best I have had, anywhere in the world. Sitting on the front porch of the Anchorage Inn with the bay breeze blowing through the massive columns was divine. All of the guests were friendly with conversation shared all around. Frank and Amy (owners) displayed tirelessness through their dedication to making their guests happy. The only slight negative would be the roadway immediately in front of the inn. I could be noisy, especially with some of the trucks and motorcycles passing by. We will definitely be making a return visit, including the restaurant.
The food was very good with size and taste, just a little pricey but it was worth it.
We are so glad you enjoyed your dinner!
We showed up for brunch in the middle of Covid on the last Sunday in July. We had asked for a table outside and we were the only patrons (it was about noon when we showed up). The staff was super friendly, and the food was great. The ground level porch was nice, breezy and cool, although the ceiling fan was broken. We enjoyed our lunch very much.
a little expensive but worth it
Nice, historic B&B. We ate outside on the porch that was very nice. This was a very expensive dinner for a special celebration but the food was outstanding. However, for that price I would have expected a small plate of bread or crackers while having a cocktail. I can't imagine the cost for some minor munchies would cause the owners to take a loss. Also, maybe it's just our older age group, and maybe it is the style in the younger crowds, but the hostess and waitresses were not dressed very nicely-in fact one was wearing her half slip on the outside. Not a very elegant atmosphere to a seemingly elegant facility and planned celebration, which was not acknowledged even though the question was asked when making a reservation. For $40 entry a little attention to minor details would go a long way.
It was our 44th anniversary and one by one all staff canes to table with congratulations and stayed for conversation
Best restaurant in Beaufort
Despite the accolades on their website, this was our most disappointing dining experience in the Beaufort area during our vacation. We received terrible service that was extremely subpar for what this restaurant touts itself to be. The waiter didn't introduce himself, we had to ask about the special, and he forgot various items multiple times throughout our meal. He never refilled our waters (despite sitting outside in July), and another table of guests had to go inside to request coffee refills. Additionally the menu was incredibly misleading, and we got charged for sides of fruit that appeared to be included with our brunch selections. The food was quite good, but the overall experience was very uncomfortable and poor. We found out through another guest that the restaurant had an employee fail to show up to work, prompting the poor service. We won't be back and I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wonderful service, food, drinks and views, from the cocktails up on the high porch, to all of our meals served out in the front porch. It’s quickly become our favorite restaurant here in Beaufort and we plan on returning on a regular basis. 😊
Dr. and Mrs. Rich Serianni
Perfect place for having dinner on the porch of a gorgeous home with an incredible view! The food was just as special as the view. We each tried a different appetizer and entree, and all were delicious. We felt very safe, as tables were spaced nicely and all staff were careful with contact and wore proper masks.
Loved it! Good service with COVID procedures respected. Harper was a great server and the porch was divine. Food excellent!
Nice place but we were disappointed with the food. Would not mind the price if the food is good
Delicious Sunday brunch with beautiful views! Will definitely return!
Dinner was wonderful! The food was very flavorful and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It was perfect choice for a special evening revisiting Beaufort area after 15 years. Gives a feel for Beaufort history. Great unique menu, Bison was delicious. We definitely hit the mark in reconnecting w/Beaufort.
We decided this ranks as one of our top 5 meals ever! Our compliments to the Chef! The view was spectacular and we loved eating in the porch soaking up the history of the home. We cannot wait to return the next time we are in the area! This is a true gem.
Fantastic flavors, attention to detail. Duck was perfect. Bison filet amazing. Sauce for bison a little too sweet and thick but close to perfection. We will be back.
My daughters 21st birthday dinner with her and her friend. We waited 2 hours for our food. The sirloin was excellent, but a little heavy with mayonnaise for the grab on top. Couscous sauce was a bit salty, and my daughter shared the bacon wrapped tenderloin with her friend. Tenderloin was excellent. I had the carrot salad and it was very good, and we were so hungry. The staff was kind and kept apologizing. I had to pay metered parking - they should have free parking. The view on the porch was beautiful of low country, but military base nearby had planes flying over quite often.
We enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day brunch out on the porch. The menu while short had something for everyone. We all order something different and each of us had an outstanding meal. All of the servers were very attentive and we will definitely be back.
The scallop dinner was phenomenal. It was a beautiful evening to sit on the front porch at such a lovely inn.
Everything was great except the rudeness of another customer. It was a party of 4. Their excessive complaining on top of their baby crying was unpleasant for sure. The staff tried their best to work with them, however, they were nothing but Rude!!
Most amazing chocolate hazelnut cake EVER! Actually beat dessert EVER! Did NOT like the Black Chicken at all. Even it’s presentation was disgusting. Black chicken skin is....simply gross.
Wow! What a dinner! We were a little nervous at first, as the restaurant did not have Open Table's confirmation for our reservation, and they were full that evening. They worked very hard to seat and serve us anyway - even though they did not expect us.
There was not room on the porch (which has a beautiful view) so they created a dining area for us just inside (which was our own private room). They invited us to visit the third floor to see the spectacular view and take photos before our meal. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu, the manager was helpful and also great help with our selections, and the meal was unbelievable! Our family enjoyed the steak tenderloin, the black bass, and the ostrich. They also were most accommodating to our daughters' allergies (two with pine nuts and one with shellfish). The chef came to visit with us after the meal and even shared other recommendations for good food in the area. We were thrilled with our experience - especially after driving 30 minutes from our beach vacation. This was, hands down, the best meal all week. Highly recommend, but book early!
Intriguing choices, excellent combination of flavors, and an unbearable view of the bay off the deep front porch
Excellent food. I currently live in downtown Beaufort and this has been my go-to when individuals come to visit. You can tell they truly care about the product they bring out to the table. The chef came out to everyone's tables individually and asked how our meals were.
If the weather is agreeable, eat outside on the porch for a unique and pleasant dining experience. Great place for a special occasion.
Everything was perfect especially the meal. Would highly recommend.
This venue is a must on a visit to Beaufort. Before dinner the deck on the 4th floor offer some of the finest views of the Beaufort River. Food and service are the best in Beaufort.
Such an amazing evening on the porch. Perfect weather, perfectly prepared food, and great wines.
We had brunch on Sunday. Creative menu with reasonable price given quality of food. Servers were attentive and you can’t beat the view onto the marsh.
Best food in town!!
What a beautiful place to experience fine dining. The sunset was remarkable on my husbands 40th birthday. The food was exquisite and the rich history of the building just made it more special. The staff were friendly. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful bison meal with special attention from all the staff. Our question were answered with great detail. When we asked for wine pairing with the bison we were given excellent advice. Great anniversary meal and desert, thanks to all the staff!
Food was delicious but service very slow.
We went for a special occasion coupled with Valentine's Day. Too many tables crammed in. We were in the foyer and froze every time the door opened. Too few staff for the crowd. Service poor and when the main course arrived, it was cold. Dessert came while dinner was still on the table. Staff was breaking down tables before we were finished. With wine, $120 per person. No prices on the menu! Expensive, horrible experience, especially for a special occasion.
