    Second time there. They were out of salads and hot dogs. My steak and eggs was poor - taste and quality both were poor. My wife’s shrimp and grits were good.

    We love dining at The Retreat. The food is exceptional, elevated American food. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, yet very nice. The service is wonderful, attentive, yet respectful of our space. So thankful to have such a nice eating establishment at Lake Wateree to enjoy when we're at the lake.

    The Retreat is the only show in town for fine dining on Lake Wateree. Always clean, always fresh and excellently prepared. It does tend to get loud, but it is one of our favorites anywhere.

    Our first Summer Sessions 3 course meal. I had the Red Snapper, which really had very little flavor. Next time and yes there will be a next time, I'll try the the blackened meatloaf which seemed to be a popular choice. Overall a very good experience.

    Pork chop and CAB steak were delicious. Appetizers were great. Drinks were good. Service seemed to be a little slow as the waitress seem to be doing double duty serving, setting tables, and making the drinks at the bar. The pasta on kids menu was very bland and the kids option seemed limited. No Parmesan cheese available. Also, the menu online reflected a 3 course special that was not offered. My bill was over $300 but felt some key things were missing at this price point. Employees didn’t seem very happy or enthusiastic. Thomas

    The service and ambiance were good. Steak, Shrimp and Scallops were excellent. Still a bit pricey but getting better. Red Snapper looked amazing but was mushy.

    Pros: great service, clean, family friendly, excellent views Jambalaya was yummy, and the wedge salads are immense!!! Cons: don’t order the oysters, no flavor at all. Don’t bother with coffee either, it’s essentially coffee-flavored tea. First time there, was giving it a chance as another local go to place. I’ll come back, but maybe for lunch, not dinner.

    Have visited The Retreat about three times and was pretty much satisfied with the whole experience. This time, Father’s Day, was absolutely below par. Dry chicken, cold shrimp and grits and just a below average selection and quality of food. But the $11.00 Bloody Marys, that had one olive and a slice of lime, was absolutely over priced. Chairs that need to be repaired and hand rails missing on the walk up to the entry. Not sure we will return.

    The Retreat brunch was a perfect Fathers Day meal. The staff is great and welcoming, the selection is very good. For those who would enjoy a cocktail and look for the mighty eagle this is the spot!

    The overall experience was good. I do agree with past reviews that more seafood should be offered. Our evening started with drinks. We ordered the fried oyster appetizer which was followed by the mixed green salad. The appetizer was excellent and the salad was huge, so we shared it . For entrees, my husband ordered the black grouper and I the shrimp & grits. The presentation of both was nice and portion size good. My husband stated the grouper was tasty despite the temp. On the other hand, the shrimp and grits tasted void of seasoning and the fact that it was served lukewarm didn't help. It was just okay. The mixed drinks and wine choice were good. The service was good and waitress attentive. Overall, it was an okay experience. The farm to table concept works, however the lack of menu choices and seafood will prevent us from returning.

    Dining at The ReTreat is always fabulous - It is awesome to have such personalized service by the staff, the food was phenomenal (RibEye and Fettucine), the Tuna Nachos were delicious and of course the Buffalo Cauliflower was to die for !!!     $24.99 Mother's Day Buffet. The smoked salmon alone was well worth the $24.99. High quality, freshly prepared food. Great variety. Only thing I was slightly disappointed about was my wife not being able to order a Diet Coke or Diet Beverage. No worries though, I was able to purchase a Coke Zero at the gas station a stone's throw away, plus picked up some new fishing lures in the process. Our 10 year old son ordered the burger and fries and he gave the burger an 11 out of 10, he thought it was out of this world. Everything was fantastic, the drop biscuits were a tad bit under in the middle, but the peach cobbler more than made up for it, not to mention the cat head sized cookies. Great Mother's Day thanks to you and your staff for making it a great day for our family! God Bless!
